Guest
im wondering, for the sake of lag, should i have frame limiter on or off? and also, i actually like the game better with frame limiter off, yet sometimes im driving along and things wont draw, is there a way to have it off and have things load right? running winxp pro with sp1. Guardians Proper
Fix for your texture problem when the frame limiter is off: Find gta-vc.exe Right click it "Properties" "Compatibility" Tab Set it for "Windows 98" Compatibility. You can play with it on or off, whichever you like. Many people consider it cheating, but it's a question of morals. Technically, you speed up your game when it's off, causing you to move slightly faster. If you think it's a lame cheat method; don't use it. Link to comment
Dgtadude
I noticed that when its off , the textures take WAY more time to load . When ur like driffing down a round . then might not even load while ur going by them . Link to comment

Guest
ok when i do that, the regular game works fine, but when i start MTA as a client of my own server, a little goes in the progress bar and then DING, i get this: any ideas? Link to comment
Guardians Proper
Someone had this problem recently... (That exact same error ... ) There's a thread around here somewhere with a solution... Link to comment
MAD_BOY
just don't set it to win98 mode, it wont work for much people Link to comment

DrEaM4D
MTA is created for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Please remember that the client only works on Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP That's enough Link to comment
Guardians Proper
Buh, well, I've been playing in 98 Compatibility for months now and it works great! If I play in regular XP Compatibility the whole game is screwed up. Textures/sounds, etc. Link to comment

At the moment you (nor we) can do anything about the texture problems popping up when you disable the frame limiter, since it's actually Rockstar's fault (thats why they've put it in probably, cause of the problems) MTA might lag a bit atm.. but that'll change with one of the next releases. Prokopis
Cool. Will you be handing out free BB connections with every installer then? Link to comment
Guardians Proper
Just because MTA isn't designed for Windows 98 doesn't mean 98 Compatibility doesn't work. I've installed MTA for many of my friends, set them to 98 Compatibility, and disabled the limiter and it works fine... Link to comment

Prokopis
Blimey Hadn't realized MTA contributed to GFX lag enough to make a difference on top of everything else (CPU, GPU and AGP multiplier, RAM speed and OS memory state, game settings, etc). Anyway, with good enough results you just miiiiiight get that grant to keep your research going for another 5 years Dr. IJs. I'm only kidding folks . Good luck with your next version. Link to comment

It may not be proper, but it's always solved my texture problems when the frame limiter is off. And I have yet to see any side effects... Link to comment
