xhispage Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 I downloaded MTA VC , I started the server config tool , it says , starting server now , NOTHING HAPPENS . I manualy start server , says registering with ase if posible ... does nothing.... My question is : is this normal? My second question is , I want to host and play at the same time: I have 2 pc's , connected trough an router with eachother. Is it possible to play MTA VC trough that router ( Eminent ) ? ALL I WANT IS HOST AN GAME < AND JOIN IT < TO PLAY IT AGAINST MY FRIEND ON THE OTHER PC. Please help

Please help Nothing happens at first because no one is on the server so just start the Client and enter your local IP adress (beginning with 192.168.* or 10.*) Your friend should enter your IP adress as well (assuming you have a local network through that router, like me
petebog Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 If you don't know your local IP addess, just use 127.0.0.1 It's the loopback address and will always work to connect to a prog running on the same PC. www.petebog.com a.k.a Pagnell
Madd Dog Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 well i knoew for sure you can run the server and client on the same machine, just connect as said before or connect with the ip addy 'localhost' $100 to the man who can find the manual to women
Dgtadude Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 OK the ASE thing is NORMAL !!!!!!! And YOU DO NOT NEED 2 PC'S TO PLAY ON YOUR OWN SERVER !!!!!! JUST CONNECT YOURSELF TO YOUR OWN SERVER. duhhh Steam ID: Linkage CSS/HL2DM XBL TAG: Linkage155 (please identify yourself) -=- Member of the GTA Hoodz Team -=- Member of TmM -=- Member of the U.C.F Team -=- (last updated like 2 years ago, links don''t work anymore, but I''ll keep it original)
me Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 I'd just like to clarify something for you xhispage There are 2 types of servers: dedicated servers, and normal servers. When you run a dedicated server, other people can join it, but you don't automatically join it. When you run a "normal" server, you automatically join it, and other people join it. MTA uses the dedicated server. Just run the dedicated server thing, get a server going (NOTE: if you're playing over a lan, don't use ASE reporting) Start MTA. In the IP box, type 'localhost' (without quotes). hit connect, and you should be playing on your server Official B.L.A.S.T.Addict I love the intelligent conversations we have in #nsmapping wait, did I say conversation? I meant :~flinging
i_g0d_yes Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 Just connect to 127.0.0.1 after starting the server.
