Guest Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 I put in different cars n changed tire sizes n suspensions n speeds n all that crap... will it still work????
me Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 yes. so long as it's only the cars you've modded. everyone else will see the normal cars, not the new modded ones though.
Guest Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 but if ive changed the suspensions and top speeds, will the cars handle differently for me??? what if i was racing someone? Would my car still be faster???
Mikiro Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 i thought that if you changed the handling that if would conflict with the other games and could cause crashing.
xerox Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 the MTA team suggest that you run mta with a clean install of gta3. editing config files and adding car mods may crash the game or worse.
Slothman Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 worse being that you get an unfair advantage. oops...we didn't want him knowing that
petebog Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Unfortunately this is just one of the many ways you can cheat with a bit of modding, at the moment. I'd suggest some kind of CRC check on the handling.cfg to ensure everyone playing has the original file. Anyone who doesn't, can't play! There's probably ways round it, but it will prevent a lot of casual cheating and should work for other files that could be altered to give an advantage, eg fistfite.dat and weapon.dat.
MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted June 3, 2003 MTA Team Posted June 3, 2003 the teams top priority is building a stable release which works with 99.9% of the users
petebog Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 the teams top priority is building a stable release which works with 99.9% of the users Understood, I'd suggest you make a note of any potential cheats as they arise though, so you can deal with them when you're happy with the stability and other issues.
Mikiro Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 should have it so when someone uses a cheat, they blow up!!
petebog Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 How about blowing them up, then when they rejoin you change their model to one with "CHEATER" written on their T-shirt and they can't fire any weapons or get in a car?
xerox Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 lol - they can only run around and become fodder =) - as long as they arent doing something too the equivilant of counter-strike teleport knifing or skywalking i like ya idea.
Guest Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 lol, why not explode them and set DONKEY on their T-shirt and maybe set their name automatlicy to : i-suck-i-cheat
renegade X Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Unless MTA team has something screwy in the netcodes, all of your mods will be shared by all clients if you are serveing. But (same scenario) if you are the client, your data will be incompatable, and if it is not, I told IJSVogel that I would write a patch to keep incompatible data out.
Warlord Archon Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 No. We should blow them up, flame them, and THEN ban them. I mean, who would miss a good oppotunity to flame???
Mr.Bill Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 warlord has a VERY good point, but alas I cannot agree think it'd be easier if renegade just did what he said he would.
spike Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 That would be sweet ................... Will we still have 900 health because its hard to kill sombody with that much health
petebog Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 I'm sure I saw a post where one of the devs explained that the 900 health is a work around problems with the death animation. You don't have to take 900 for the player to die, they actually die at 800, so in effect they have 100 health. Shooting people for ages and them not dying is a sure sign of disconection/bugs.
