darkdreamingdan
Whats most worrying is the fact that it could potentially COMPLETLY fuck up the modding scene. you'll have the community have a major split with some people not being able to play mods and others being able to. And about the downloadable patch...laugh....im going to download that for sure! Link to comment
njr1489
Could this mean there won't be a point in sa mods using blue because half of the community won't be able to play with mods? Link to comment
darkdreamingdan
well i guess only time will tell. i think ill download the patch and patch a backup copy of SA and see what how bad it becomes. I don't know whether the team will support protection cracks or not. I sincerely hope someone does hack the protection Link to comment
njr1489
There is no such thing as a perfect unhackable game. Someone will later hack this, and all I hope R* will do is leave it the way it is since they changed the rating. Link to comment
darkdreamingdan
yeah rockstar arent being dicks on purpose, they were forced into this, and are going to try and avoid causing further trouble to the commmunity. if it is hacked, i doubt rockstar will be forced to do anything again Link to comment
Iggy
It's all bullshit, they shouldn't have been bothered about it in the first place, they took it out of reach of anyone who doesn't hack the game, that should be all that matters. Link to comment
darkdreamingdan
we might be looking at this wrong on the other hand - they may just be taking out the hot coffee code and leave the rest of the modding be. Rockstar Games will be making available shortly a downloadable software patch to render Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for PC impervious to the "hot coffee" modification. this could mean that they just simply take out any of the animations of hot coffee that exist, and leave the ability for vehicle mods etc, since this is a loophole of their statement Link to comment
Zircon
They won't do anything other than remove everything referenced to the Hot Coffee Mod to make ESRB happy. No matter what they do, they can't stop people from modding the game at all. Link to comment
Luigi
I dont think they will stop selling it here in hungary http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php?date=2005-07-20 <- Link to comment

Brophy
makes u laugh man, all this over a computer game, ppl are at war and everything and they are worried of a fcking game Link to comment
orappa
So they're raising it from 17+ to 18+? Is there much difference? It's 18 over here anyway so it'll probably stay the same. Under-17's can get hold of the game already so what difference will the 18 rating make? Link to comment
Zircon
Most retail distributors won't sell any titles with the AO rating. Just like films try to make "R" instead of "X." Only 18 other games have ever made AO (and most were related to pornography)... Link to comment
{FKU}Warfire
well, we can always hope that good ol' fashioned greed will keep most retailers selling it. . so when is the sims gonna be AO?? or leisure suit larry?? lmfao Link to comment

Under-17's can get hold of the game already so what difference will the 18 rating make? thats not the point. im worried about the new protection that'll be implemented to prevent modding - which will happen worldwide. this could cause a community split, half with a modable version and half with protected versions Link to comment
njr1489
Someone will eventually make a crack that allows mods (hopefully). It would be the only way people could install MTA. Link to comment
silenthill21
I read a statement from Rockstar and what I gather is the game will be unavailable to buy until this fall, except for stores willing to sell it with the AO sticker, and they are only going to remove the Hot Coffee material from the game then get it rerated as Mature and put back in the major retail stores again. So people will be able to buy it again and play MTA still. Link to comment
orappa
Talidan, I doubt they can put significant checks in place that will prevent modding. Remember that GTA3 came with no tools or support at all and the community built up tools from scratch. Determined people get results. I agree that they'll most likely just remove the Hot Coffee code. It's easier than creating some sort of complicated anti-modding protection. Link to comment
Moderators HAZJ Posted July 24, 2005 Moderators Share Posted July 24, 2005 makes u laugh man, all this over a computer game, ppl are at war and everything and they are worried of a fcking game Tottaly agreed, they worry about a game and not about Irak and their problems. Rockstar Games will be making available shortly a downloadable software patch to render Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for PC impervious to the "hot coffee" modification. They really think we'll download it? No Thanks. And the fact is, this come since that Janet Jackson accidental breast nude...... Link to comment

orappa
Update: GTA SA has now been banned in Australia (no great surprise as they have strong censorship). Hopefully the ban will be lifted when the new version comes out without Hot Coffee. Link to comment
Leviathan
In europe the rating allready was 18+, and besides that, people under 18 can easily buy the game without problems. And I really don't care about the coffee crap. I like the game how it is and that coffee crap doesn't change that. I hope no one makes the coffee mod a multiplayer MTA gamemode... Link to comment

Hopefully the ban will be lifted when the new version comes out without Hot Coffee. It will be re-released eventually. The Film and Literature board here in Australia banned GTA3 and re-released it.
