That was too on topic! Mean ol' moderator... oh. ya. on topic... good idea, although I just realized something about the competition between the mods... it'll more likely push back release dates than move them forward. Now, since the MTA team has to prove that their mod works, they'll spend longer nitpicking small details that they would normally just patch up in a small fix the next week.

We need to get someone who knows enough about the project, to create an FAQ... I've been looking at some of the forum topics (IRC, will mods work with MTA, etc.), and think it might be a good idea, so people aren't constantly asking the same questions over and over in the forum.

Well, it'll probably be laggy with a modem on servers with more than, say... 10 people. As for a cable connection... Go with DSL!!!!!!!!!! (better yet, ADSL)!!!!

Well, the only info being sent between the two computers is where each player is. So if one person has a mod (called A from now on) that adds a stunt park, and the other person doesn't (B), and A goes to... say, the top of a hill in the stunt park, all their computer does is say that they're at co-ordinates 9998234, 2342355, 2345231 (something like that at least). Not that they're on top of a hill. If the other person doesn't have the mod, then all they'll see is A floating in the sky. You can get some pretty weird results if B drives along the ground. A will see their car driving through the stunt park, magically going through brick walls.

*sigh*... can't someone just say why it isn't changing? The progress counter isn't being changed because for even the smallest change in the code, one has to check through the rest of it, debug it, and the compile it... Which takes longer than doing all that every few days or so, rather than for every enhancement. Hope this helps

*cough*... um... the point of this topic is to say that they're avoiding release dates....

I can remember when everyone was cool with each other, and rather than "SHUT THE FUCK UP", it was "sweet... nice one" and pats on the back. which is why I would like to propose something: everyone, spend the entirety of next week, not f--king swearing, using CAPITALS, or exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!! If someone says something stupid, ignore them, ask for an admin, or simply politely correct them. The way things have been going, it almost makes me want to stop coming to these boards. One hopes that with MTA 0.3b, that the boards will become peaceful once again...

Well, if you've ever coded, you know that for even the smallest update, you have to insert a bunch of new code, then spend a day TRYING to debug it, then compile it, and combine it with all the other code...... Sometimes it's faster just to avoid constantly compiling when the slightest update is made.

I think you haven't played ggm yet, when my friends an me play, every minutes anyone's gta has an error... That's probably the main reason I avoid using GGM. I can only play for 3 mins or so...

ya, I forgot to put that in my original post... you'd use a car as the ball (maybe a cop car so it would chase you around )

Well, they did fix a problem some people were having with saved games... the game would crash when loading them. (Ironically, the majority of people who had this happening were those using the ripped version.... )

Get the GTA3 Admin Console. (Don't know where the website is...) Get into a car. Set your car's weight to 50 tons. Ram another car. The other car goes flying. ______________ There could be another mode of gameplay based off of that... Sort of like soccer or something, maybe at the airport. You have to bounce a Mr. Whoopie into the other team's goal, or something like that. Any game mode using the 50-tons setting would be sweet.
