the .scm wasnt a modded mta file. its zta which is ALOT diff the cleint loads up the zta not the mta.scm Venom, nobody is disputing that the scm and the client to use ithas a problem with respec to the eula. What I am saying is that nobody on that server was cheating because the motd explictly allowed that one scm (and no other mods I might add).
-
Since you are too stupid to read my post correctly, I'll sum it up for you: - It's not cheating if a server admin allows it - That is a separate issue to the eula since your to stupid to read the eula il sum it up for you AGAIN modding the client = DONT DO, NADA, NO, ZILCH, NO EXCEPTIONAES, COMPRENDE HOMAY? Boy you are really having trouble with this concept today. Let's try again: Modding the files is bad, against eula etc but is in itself not cheating. Using modded files on a server that prohibits them is cheating. While we may have violated the eula we were not cheating since the server allowed it. Reread this post 10 times carefully before you blow another gasket lol.

Can you translate that to English please? If you bothered to connect and read the motd, it clearly says what is allowed and not allowed. nobody on that server was breaking the server rules. caught obeying the server rules? so what? That's true but that's between the MTA team and me, you stay out of that. Regardless, I have every right to set whatever rules I want on my own servers. Even the MTA team has said it's not cheating if a server explicitly allows something.

This thread? It's a troll by DeathB to poke fun at KFC. The modding on the 0.2.2 server? see the gangwar mode thread.

whats funny is that sexyb is whining over a game taht nobody even plays. oh, so as long as theres a newer version out there it becomes ok for you guys to mod the old ones, yawn. everyone plays mta dumbass where's the victim? Let me know when your 0.2.2 server is overrun by people modding. oh wonderful, so you can mod as long as its not the current version. well jee, i guess you guys are going to have to rewrite your rules then "you can mod as long as noone outside of kfc is with you" No, you missed the point. When you have a problem with people breaking the rules on your server because of me then let me know. Otherwise, how about a nice cup of STFU? I have never had a problem with people setting up a server for mods. What I have a problem with is people breaking the rules in a server, whatever those rules are. For most servers the rule is no mods. Maybe you have a different standard but for me it has always been "DONT BREAK THE SERVERS RULES". They're usually listed in the motd, try reading them sometime. This thread really should be locked because it was a troll right from the start.

Didnt see that.. But to my knowledge, no.. look for it if you can. But the thing is, it would be false report, as we dont mod .4 Wel duh! Experienced players can spot cheats/mods almost instantly. I see it almost every day in my servers and I ban on sight. Nobody that plays as much as we do and with as many experienced players would last two seconds cheating or modding. Everyone knows that so stop pointing fingers just to be a troll.

I can't speak for others but I have NEVER modded/cheated in 0.4 or any version that was currently being played. I go to great effort to keep those that do off my servers, which are very expensive to run. There will be bad apples in any group but don't go painting a whole clan with that brush because there was some experimenting with an obsolete version.

There is some interest in a special game mode (vs deathmatch or stunt) optimized for Gangwars. Hopefully if there is enough interest we can get the developers to put a mode like this in a future release. Here are some ideas that have been proposed so far: - 3 gang spawn points, one at the airport and two downtown. The two downtown would be in front of the roxor and vaj buildings. - Each gang spawn point would spawn with 100 armor, 100 health, regenerating health (like sailor) and some basic weapons (golf club, pistol, stubby, uzi). - Each gang spawn would have pickups for the best weapons able to be synced in the game (like chainsaw, teargas, nades, mollies, python, shotgun, spaz, mp5, m4, flamethrower, m60, minigun) - Two bullet proof securicars would be placed at each gang spawn - three 4door mavericks would be placed in front of the airpot and somewhere close to the two downtown spawns. - all weapons would have virtually unlimited ammo (like 20000 rounds) - robber spawn should be just like in deathmatch mode The goal of having all good syncable weapons available is because unlike deathmatch, gang wars are run with some order and usually have weapon rules. The permitted weapons can easially be changed for each round. The goal of having ulimited ammo is because (way) too much time is spent collecting weapons before a round starts. If there is any possibility that you might run out we would be back to pre-round weapon acquisition. The reason to have two spawns downtown is to create a new "urban combat" style round. Those two locations were chosen because they are about the right distance apart for this and there are many alleyways, collumns, walls and other obstructions to make it interesting. For traditional attack/defend wars it is expected that one team will spawn in downtown and another at the airport and go from there as usual. A benefit of having multiple spawns with identical features is that each team can spawn as one skin/map color. The 6 mavericks are for basic transport or for use during round. Reducing the number of choppers from 6 to 4 has cause alot of problems in 0.4.x The bullet proof securricars is an interesting idea, they would still be vulnerable to damage, fire and explosions but it might go well with miniguns. I'd like to hear any suggestions on how this might work or be improved.

Nobody has an advantage when the entire server is using the same files.

Once you guys are done getting your rocks off on the "OMG HAX" thing, feel free to make constructive suggestions for the gangwar game mode idea.

For 0.2.2, oh the horror! Seriously, get a grip.

I wouldn't say MTA is dying, though it is definately in a slump. There seems to be a general consensus that 0.3 was far more enjoyable than 0.4.x for VC (though we do greatly appreciate gta3 support in 0.4+). These are the biggest problems I have with 0.4.x: - Stubby gameplay has been horriby altered. Put it back the way it was in 0.3! - Decreased framerates/perception of poorer syncing. Everyone who has gone back and played 0.3 again comments on how much better "synced" it is. - Black maverick and VCN are gone (WTF?!) This is especially troublesome for gangwars where ammo gathering already takes too long. - Not enough M60 ammo for mexican. - The Spaz is gone (at this rate we will only have pistols by mta 0.7) The only improvements I've noticed (besides gta3 support which is wonderful) are much improved aiming and a spawn with mp5. I set up a 0.3 and even 0.2.2 servers just to see what they were like and I was amazed at the number of people who wanted to play the earlier versions. Everyone agrees they are far more fun even with the aiming problems on certain weapons. Also, it is obvoius that the deathmatch scm is poorly suited to gangwars. I am prototyping a gangwar scm on 0.2.2. Once we get it working the way we want it, is there any chance of it being ported into a future release?

How much bandwidth does a full server take? (0.4.1 0.4.5)
Nutz replied to alexs-'s topic in General MTA:VC
It varies widely and is non linear with number of players. I have seen a full 26 player server push 5-6 Mbps at times. -
Can we have a forum section for multiplayer SA topics? I realize you can't start working on it until the pc version comes out (and even then if it will be possible) but we can start getting gameplay and other ideas together now.

I am now running [FMJ]-Oli's admin script on the Gang Warfare server (66.117.38.206:2006). It is echo'ed on irc://irc.multitheftauto.com/gangecho As before, all gangs are welcome to use this 26 player server for official or unofficial matches. The initial nickserv file was copied from the partyserver vc nickserv so if you had an account there you already have an account on the gangwar server. If not it's easy to create one. All gang leaders are welcome to pm me the account you want to use (and an alternate for when the leader can not attend) on the gangwar server so I can give you in-game admin privileges. This will enable you to kick/ban/set time and weather during your match.

My favorite GTA3 car is the FBI car. Unfortunately it's not in the current scm! The GTA3 FBI car looks cool, has great speed and handling and the cool blue light. Plus in SP they're hard to get which makes them special. My favorite GTA3 vehicle is of course the Dodo. My favorite VC car is the FBI Rancher (it would be the patriot but it's too slow). I like them becuase they look like the kind of car where badass would jump out and start shooting. My favorite VC vehicle is the VCN Maverick (which is also not in the current scm!)

This is the script I use to start mta, save logfiles and automatically restart when it dies (or is killed): #!/bin/sh log=watchdog.log dat=`date` mtavc="/home/mta/mtavc/MTAServer0.4.1" echo "${dat} watchdog script starting." >>${log} while true do if [ `ps -ax | grep -c '/home/mta/mtavc/MTAServer0.4.1'` -eq 0 ] then echo "${dat} Server exited, restarting..." >>${log} datstr=`date "+%Y-%m-%d-%H%M%S"` mv mtaserver.log ${datstr}.log ${mtavc} >/dev/null 2>&1 & fi sleep 30 done

The invisible celing appears to be around 100m. Speaking of that, I hope the altimiter will be in the next release

That twin-prop airplane in one scene looks like a DC-3. I wonder if it is flyable.

I saw this game for the first time last night. I'm not sure who came up with it but this is how it works: Players stand in the clear grassy areas of the cliff behind the Mafia house. Other players in Dodos make passes trying to dodokill the players on the ground. Players on the ground try to shoot down the Dodos. The only rules seem to be that the players on the ground can't stand too close to the edge or near solid objects (trees, picnic tables) and there should be no cars on the cliff area. It's lots of fun. I enjoy being a pilot since it really gives you a chance to work on precision manuvers. It can also be quite challenging after you hit a player or the grass ass you often loose control momentarally. When multiple dodos are making passes it is not unusual to have mid-air collisions too when you are both aiming for the same people. It is sometimes helpful to do "reset money" cheat where the players who will be on the ground sit at the ammunatino and an admin repeatedly resets money as they buy weapons.

If you were going for realism you might place them all in parking lots instead of on the sidewalk. Most of the times I see a serial car kill hop directly in a new car it's one of the ones on the street. 30 extra seconds of chasing will usually result in a dead car killer. Does the game know when someone car kills? Would it be possible to "take away the keys" for a certain ammount of time after they do it? Sort of like a suspended license for car killing That would be the ulitmate balance because it would allow car kills to be an important part of the game while discouraging serial car killing by forcing them to be the peds for awhile.

A pistol does just fine when chasing someone. It's acually easier to hit them when they are running away than when you are jumping all around each other. If you have some uzi, it's even easier. The trick to enjoying GTA3 is not to think of it a VC with a different map. While you can have fun shotty wars in GTA3, the other lesser weapons play an important and useful role. It's essential to be proficient with the pistol and uzi. Forget the other weapons are even in the game till you can reliably kill with those two. Once you do that (and jump out of the way of cars) you will have a fat wallet, heavy load of arms or both.
