Are you a noob just tryign to claim a place so you can call it your own ? first you say you want the malls[/s] , then you just drop it and ask if the hotel is free , which hotel noob? there are about 50 hotels in vice city......, and do you even have a clan/gang? in order to ask for a base you have to be listed in the official gangs thread , i dont think i see your clan there.....think about what you want as a base before you ask for it. How about a set of standards for what is a recognized gan? - minimum of six members who are not in any other recognized gang - Beat a recognized gang at least once in an organized gangwar That should minimize "vanity" gangs

Cheating? If it's available for everyone to download from the official site then by definition it's not cheating. Especially it it's just a pre-release for a feature likely to be included in the next version.

Awesome! The Z value is in meters, can it be displayed in feet when the speed is displayed in Mph?

What makes a game hard is what makes it worth playing.

Also, Here's a tip: When someone won't get out of their car and is repeatedly trying to run you over, shoot at them with the handgun. For some reason the Colt45 sets occupied cars on fire faster than any other gun. It will still take 15-20 shots for a new car but it doesn't take long

This is exactly why I prefer to play GTA3:MTA over VC. There is much more excitement in the gameplay. Gun battles are longer and more interesting, you have to always watch your back, and even car chases are much more exciting.
-
I personally don't have a problem with car kills because I usually watch my back and jump right over their car. I can see how less experienced players could be turned off by it so it's probably best to outlaw it. I'll update the MOTDs tonight.

Part of the draw is the difficulty in learning to fly it. It really can be beautiful and fun to fly once you master it. It always lends itself to new challenges too:)

It's real obvious when someon respawns, expecially if they show up with a kill or death after they die. I agree however that spawn points shoul d not be bases (at least in vc).

I'm beginning to think you're right. With the difficulty in getting weapons for the kind of wars we are used to, perhaps a 10 minute ffa would be best for now. One point for each kill of the other team, minus one point for each teamkill. The only points of contention would be location and if car kills are allowed. How about near one of the ammunations so good players can restock their weapons. This would make for a very interesting dynamic requireing coordination between teammates of who has appropriate weapons and health for the situation. How does this sound: - 2 or 3 five minute matches - ffa on the ship (which has an ammunation and interesting obstructions and a rather well defined boundary) - before starting each team is on opposite sides of the boat, on the deck of the boat, with only the weapons you spawn with. - you may not leave the boat during the round. The boat ramp is not a part of the boat for this rule. You may not be on the boat ramp unless you are a returning player. Once you board the boat you may not leave during the round unless you die. - if you die you must go directly to the boat without picking up weapons OR cash. You must not fire any shots while not on the boat. The boat ramp is a part of the boat for this rule. This is to help returning players protect against ramp campers. - you must quit and restart game before starting a round to reset weapons health and cash. You must not quit and restart during a round (unless you crash, then you must call crash in the chat). - If there is a health pickup on the boat you may use it (I havent check if this is the case) - you may buy weapons from the boat store at any time during the match but not before a match. You may not pick up weapons OR cash before a round starts. - scoring is determined by adding all of the non-team kills minus all of the team kills for players on each team. The team with the highest score wins the round. - The first team to win two rounds wins the match and the match is over.

I use http://www.maj.com which seems to have no bandwidth or file size limits. It only works for pictures though.

There were some f-words I think. I pixelated them so they are family safe. I have to remember to hit f9 when doing screenshots because even without profanity they are distracting.

Rare glimpse of three dodos together on Staunton Island: I couldn't see the other players planes because there is an unpredictable desyncing problem that occurrs on the other islands. I could only see the other players. PI however could see everyones planes.

Another possibility for pre-round gathering if you got cash for flying in the dodo. $10 for every game minute of flight for the pilot and any passengers would mean $600 each per real minute of flight. This would make a 5 minute pre-round gathering session practical. It would also encourage more people to fly and to do fly-taxi role playing when not in gangwars.

i can, what you need to do is, have a (insert minutes here) minute melee period where the better players get money and get ready for the Attack and Defend, when everyone is reay, then it happens, and GTA3 has some good bases (kind of, i would like to see the other islands ) so...whatever You can pick up 15 shotgun shells from pickups and at least 10 from cop cars without killing anyone. If each person gets to kill one person they can buy the AK. Maybe there should be an extra player won't be int the round that everyone gets to kill once before the round for the cash. Any other killing including team killing before a round would be forbidden. At the end of a round you must quit and restart (how do you verify this?) and go through the pre-round process fresh. One way to help this would be to have an "ammo bot" that repeatedly spawns in the same spot with the desired weapons. Unfortunately that would require a modded scm.

Alienate? They're tools that you can choose to use or not. The Dodo is the only thing that flies in gta3 mta. Adding some basic instruments not only make it easier to pilot in certain conditions, it also helps us learn more about the Dodo physics itself. The better we fly the Dodo the more possibilities for gameplay open up. How about a gangwar round where one team is in a location only accessable by dodo? Or a 'Dodo Turismo' mode? As more people get to be good pilots I expect to see "dodo taxi" service as well. I'm still working on smooth controlled landings and low altitude flight. The speedometer has helped immensely with this but an altimiter would help even more. The artificial horizon would only be useful in fog, but that would enable dodo-friendly servers to run all weather modes instead of sun only. Just to be clear, when I say altimiter I mean a simple z-axis readout, noting more.
-
The Speedometer has turned out to be very useful for flying the Dodo. Another basic flight instrument that would be just as useful if not more is an altimiter. Nothing fancy like height above terrain, just a simple dump of the current Z axis position. This should be trivial to add to the speedo function. The altimiter would be fun for cars too, especially for stunting. Another flight instrument that would be useful is an artificial horizon. I'm not sure how difficult that would be but it would make flying through fog much safer.

Pi and I got our Dodos to fly together for awhile. Here are the screenshots: http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=694 Note the speed of 114 is not by chance. That happens to be the speed that the Dodo can settle into at max altitude. In this special condidion we call "autopilot" you can completely take your hands off of the controls, even the thrrottle. Input commands are only needed for turns, though the boundary bumpers will helpfully u-turn you back and forth indefinately if you plan your course right Once Dodo flying in Autopilot mode results in a stable flight path below the max usable speed. Another Dodo can approach the stable one by flying at a faster, unstable speed. Once on station you can fly in formation or do other manuvers.

As long as you don't try to play on a server with more than 22 players you should be ok. 500kb/sec is not enough to play on a 26 player 0.4 (currently). Another issue is all the extra CPU required to process the incoming traffic. Surely the client does something with all that data. I suspect this is the main reason people with slow computers are complaining about low fps. I think getting the downlink back to reasonable levels will solve most if not all of the "it's laggy" complaints.

That sounds like it will be close to the bandwidth usage of 0.3 which is a huge relief.

MTA 0.4, MTAmA, Admin+ and a revolution in gang warfare.
Nutz replied to Si|ent's topic in General MTA discussion
Doea Admin+ have the ability to warp a player to a specific spot? If so then you could have a cop role play script where anyone in a cop uniform can say !jail and anyone not in a cop or SS skin within a preset radius and not in a vehicle gets warped to jail (or another specified location). Another use would be to a script based WMD. An authorized player types !nuke and everyone within a specified radius dies. Perhaps the nuke could only work at certain times or certain locations/vehicles or some other limitation. This could lead to a whole terrorist/anti-terror role play mode Capture the [vehicle] scripts could be more complete with Admin+ -
You can have a temmate killing fest or smash some cars up.
-
That depends on the boundaries but in general I would expect the attacking team to use dodos not the defending team. Just to be clear only the defending team has to stay within the play area, the attacking team can go anywhere. In FFA mode the play area could be very large.
