Actually it didn't, it had to be handled differently specifically for stunt. Theres no money in mtavc deathmatch remember.

The replay method was looked at briefly quite a while ago, but obviously isn't a priority. Wait and See

They may not see the flamethrower, if you hadnt changed weapons close to them in the server then to them you may be firing a pistol, or even punching. Then there is lag to take into account, latency can cause your flames to fan out slightly behind them in thier point of view, therefore never actually hitting them. Then theres PC speed, if thiers is slow they may get 'bigger gaps' between each flame- for want of a better description - or even miss some shots altogether if you were jumping/moving and firing in short bursts rather than standing in one place flaming constantly.Again, these are things you will get to appreciate and account for in your day to day play as you get more experienced. Again this is primarily caused by lag, either latency or CPU speed casung what you see, hitting them with the car, to be different to what they see, you narrowly missing as they jump or run to one side. It is even possible for you to go thru them without touching them in some cases, if you or they have a nasty spike at that second, causing the car to warp past them. Thats happened to me once or twice and saved my life in gta3

As said before we don't promote the use of cracked vc and gta3 exes, but we also don't go out of our way to prevent it.

It's the above that leads me to think it's just his inexperience with MTA, he's not saying theres one of two cheaters he seems to think everyone on every server is.

Id say its almost guaranteed that these people you think are cheating aren't. Most new players immidiately presume the server is full of hackers when thier Quake3 or CS shooting techniques dont work, or when they see blood splatter on thier target yet no loss of health, or a car 'spawned from nowhere' These and more are issues with the way MTA itself works meaning what you see locally isnt necessarily what is seen in other peoples games. (Also posts such as yours can reinforce the idea that it is in fact cheating, not glitches and the 'incompleteness' of mta) As you gain more in-game experience you will realise that cheaters are in fact pretty rare all things considered.

It isnt supposed to find it automatically, that message was included so people would be aware that it is set to 1.0 by default to prompt them to alter it if neeb be.

VCA is no different to when you were at our heels asking to join. As i type theres VCA on both officials. Competition wise we are concentrating on turfwars (GTA3) but as you never turned up in either the VCA channel, the Turfwar channel or the turfwar forum I guess your one of the inactive 'dead' ones.

Your missing the point, your suggestions still boil down to either peds on rails with no syncing and the lack of realism inherant with that. Or interactive peds that will need syncing regularly. 32 players, with only a bare 2 peds close to each is a massive amount of extra syncing needed should all those players do something to make the peds react. Bearing in mind sounding your horn, driving on the pavement, firing a weapon, attacking a ped, crashing into another vehicle and more ALL promote a random reaction from a ped. As for breaking the model limits thats not as likely as you may think, so far the only way discovered involved changing the original game executable (something GTAWO did) which understandably attracted the attention of take2's legal department pretty sharpish. Finally, sure there are 'hacky' ways to give the ilusion of peds, pseudo-peds if you will, but that is highly unlikely to be considered for the new core. Blue is moving away from mta's previous 'we can hack it to make this happen in a rather messy way' and towards 'we can do this in the manner of 'proper' multiplayer gaming'. Shooting for instance. Whilst previously syncing the position and rotation of the playeractor relatively regularly, and simply syncing the fact hes shooting. (old core), Blue syncs each bullet, its speed, its direction, its location.

Changing its attributes to read only was an old preventative measure when colour coding was discovered by some players, the use of which would often overwrite the contents of other players configs entirely. There should be no need to do so now.

Not quite as simple as you would presume. What happens if you park in front of one for instance? they walk/drive through your car as if it isnt there? they stop there and do nothing? What happens when u hit one with a bat? Do they respond and defend themselves (as they do in single player), if so that would need to be syncd, thier attack thier health etc. If these basic reactions are to be ignored and peds basically 'on rails' with no reaction to the outside world then I think that would be infinately worse, and less realistic, than no peds on the streets at all. Then there are the limits inherant in gta, specifically the model limits. Throwing 32+- players, a possible 32 to 80 (or more, depending on methods used) vehicles AND a bunch of peds unfortunately isnt feasable without a stable and legal way to break those limits. I also feel peds would be far more suitable in a cooperative mod, allowing only 2 or 3 players but full or almost full synchronisation of all aspects of single player. Missions, kill frenzies, peds, traffic etc. Something I suggested to smithers a long time ago as a direction for his mod, and one I believe they are taking. (Although I'm not up to date by any means on thier progress or plans now)

Something along these lines was discussed but has a few problems, the server has to be provided for instance. Bandwidth is going to be prohibitive if it is relied upon to host everythign required for all mods. Also what happens years down the line if/when mta:blue is history and people wish to play it, its unlikely that server would still be active. It's far more likely that a simple URL redirect or notice could be included. i.e. you connect and get a message saying what you need on that server, and where to get it. -

Yes it does, some people having files that others dont promotes instability. Yes they do, for the reasons above. And who would that be? I suspect he is pulling your leg as we aren't looking for any further members currently.

I'd be interested to see that, as in a magazine interview the CEO spoke of GTA4 as being the first of the series outside the bounds of the contract with Sony at the same occasion he spoke of possible multiplayer 'in the future'. Do you have a link?

Quig you dont need us to, like you said its by gangs for gangs. A major advantage to you is you can do what you liek when you like there, and can give each gang a little bit of control. The major advantage for us is it moves the less savoury aspects of certain peoples behaviour away from our forums (i hope), something the restructured rules where put in place to do. Us becoming nvolved in any way other than saying great idea and good luck (which I already have, and meant it) would defeat the object for both groups. Anyway, for fear of this becoming 'chatty' and MrBill banning us both I'll let the thread return to peoples 'I'm in' posts
