The 'hidden' text saying April fools was an April fools joke in itself. We threw it in at the last minute as a token attempt at a joke due to our inability to do an obvious and funny one such as the MultiTaire we did last year because we could finally announce DownTown. Our apologies for this and be assured that next year the DownTown Team will take part fully on April 1st

OH, well once Blue is around I see little need fo mtama anymore, but I told Aeron that some time back. Perhaps this is why he's beginning to think of moving to something else.

I voted mIRC as half the usefulness of mtama is the ability to echo in both directions and administrate externally without need of the admin connection details themselves (trustees not admins)

You dont need the game at all to run a server, you just need the *nix server to suit your distro. You do of course need a windows2k/xp system and the game itself to PLAY however.

One wonders why a referrer to your site would be incest sites and ritalin sites, or why you would be a referrer to them (not sure which you are stating)

If that was the only issue that needed attention then of course we would have done that. It isn't though.

Unfortunately it isnt simple preventing knockdown either, and certainly not distance dependant knockdown. If it was we would have experimented with it already.

Remember we dont promise release dates, getting Blue out before SA would have its pros and cons, besides all copies of GTAVC don't self destruct on that day. Remember the popularity of gta3mta0.4 and 0.5 and just how old gta3 is.

There's no such thing as a quick fix. Some things have had to be totally redesigned to put rest to a number of problems. All changes are bugfix driven however rather than 'lets add this, this and this it'd be really cool'.

Yes please do. Go to the other side and see how dissapointingly green the grass really is, then perhaps the newer players will appreciate how far MTA has come since, and the older players will get that retro glow and think about the many positives rather than the two negatives in 0.5 (VCC and Stubby). Do remember to have Star Trek the original series on your TV and Jive Bunny on your radio.

See, three totally different wants in the space of a short time there ^ We cannnot satisfy everyone unfortunately, you'll just have to take it as it comes until such times that you too can create your ownm game design within MTA (providing you have the skills to do so of course, or the persuasive powers if not) KungFu, this is the new testing regime, everything that we the team need tested is tested by a dedicated team of testers, not just the 'prospective release versions' a day or so before release. (far too many 'test' in that sentence but oh well)

A lot harder than you'd think unfortunately. I'm afraid things liek that are highly unlikely to appear until Blue is available, as that is built ground upwards with such a system in mind. Besides, I actually agree with you in some respects and feel the weapons damages and rates of fire, ranges etc are fine as is, just not for the same 'make it single player' reasons as yourself, and the availability of them via either position of pickup or cost of purchase is the way to balance them. - the only exception to this being small changes to try and prevent the worst of the glitches, those that involve vastly increased rate of fire, or warping so bad that combat becomes a game of 'guess where he will be next second'.- but not all the team agree therefore 0.5's weapons were very altered (I wasn't around) and 0.5.x remains to be decided either way. One of the reasons for rounds of weapon testing mentioned.

The single player game yes. If people want everything as close to single player as possible then we would of course have to give you, the player, similar hitpoints to an NPC to reflect this, meaning 2 colt 45 shots would kill you. MTA Instagib anyone?

Usually at least two hours a day in the evening before bed to relax a little, sometimes for much longer. Thats not including playtesting of newer builds.

this has come up several times before, the problem is reliably detecting that the player is paused.

The Beta Team began testing a new vehicle handling method for 0.5.x VC last night. If it works out it should streamline the process considerably resulting in a cleaner scm with more room for 'extras' along with increased stability. The test brought to light a few problems with it but we are hopeful that these can be ironed out over the next few days. The test also involved a few weapon changes which are designed to reduce glitching and improve the overall balance, these are still very much a work in progress however.

Thanks Mike, PC is all sorted now after a second format and a very careful structured re-install. Around 4x the power I had before, long overdue and very welcome. The only dissapointing thing is the new hardware modem that wont connect over 36.6k yet! At least it is much more stable and I no longer time out of MTA servers.
