  1. more More MORE! jeez, there's enough bikes and cars already, there's around 80, they're just too spread out, which is why i would like to cast my vote too chop the city in half, and put all the vehicles on one side or the other. for the unhandled exceptions, and the "lower laggy stuff", the team is always working on these. longer names a must.
  2. mta isnt the only game that hackers attack, ive had similar hacking instances in other games ive played online, you just learn to live with it after awhile. you can always run your own server and be the admin, you can keep YOUR game as cheater free as you wish that way.

  4. i dont like the sailor skin. i'm playing as cops more and more foten though, i love their shotgun i guess it is more unbalanced that "unfair", but when im chasing a sailor around the map for 15 mins because the little fucker is too chickenshit to stand and finish the fight, i tend to think a bit differently, heh.
  5. am i for mapmods? yes and no, and let me explain before you bash the cheater stick into my skull. Im not for map mods in the sense that i would add jumps an shit in that game that no one else can see, as they would only benefit me, and i do consider that form of map modding lame, and lower form of cheating. The form of map modding i support is full map replacements, and total conversions, i have 2 in progress right now. ive replaced my entire vice city with my own custom map, i would like to play it with some friends of mine who are using it too. its not cheating to me and my friends because we all have the same version of my map, and we play on our own servers. but, *according to the mta EULA* ALL mods are cheating (yea whatever, thats bullshit) so i guess ALL map mods are out anyway. the sailors health regen is unfair because anyone who wants the regenerating health, HAS to play as the sailor. same for the cops, to get the armor, i HAVE to be a cop. well i dont like sailors, and im not fond of cops, so i dont play as them. this is being unfair to any of the characters i do play as, who werent special enough to recieve that extra bit of code. i wanna play as the mexicans with armor, but i cant since only cops get it. not fair.
  6. health that goes up for just one character (sailors) is unfair giving JUST the cops armor, and no one else can pick it up is unfair spawning WITH the m60 is unfair to anyone who doesnt have it according to that logic, the mta team themselves are cheaters... a faster / slower internet connection could be unfair having a better pc than some you play against is unfair playing against a verteran of the game is unfair, they have more skill (usually) are you seeing how stupid that logic is yet? if not, i have more examples.. moving along... no, but just what IS the point fo reporting a name that can be changed in 2 seconds? Report the Ip's! atleast those cant be changed with AS much ease.
  7. yea i agree, thats why i mentioned it as part of its own game mode and not the standard deathmatch. however it would also be nice to have the option of something other than that nice simple gameplay, which does tend to get a bit repetitive. well, imo...

    oo, i forgot i posted this, so... Well, that does sound encouraging, and im sure this is early to ask, but do you think that will make it to .4? i hope so. then i can stop bitching about who has regerating health or armor, or who gets what weapons, and do it myself. always the preferred method not that you guys do a bad job, but there are alot of customization options that would be nice to have, including our own maps and game modes and such. of course having a stable client and server is a pre-requisite to that and i can see why its not implemented yet. but im patient...
  9. actually, im interested in this idea, it could lend an actual use to the Ammu-nation and Tool shops around the city. kill say....10 robbers, take their cash, and go upgrade your weapon. And yes, use npc's (bullet proof, non-interactive, static objects maybe?) behind the counter in the ammu nation shops, so your not purchasing guns from the air. You could also extend this to other pickups, like armor for non-police players, cops would still get it free. health too if you want to be really ruthless. however, i would say if something like this is ever implemented, make it part of a separate game mode, and not the default deathmatch style. name it Mercenary or something...
  10. it raises a question though, why WAS the amount of ammo reduced, hmm? perhaps too many sissies complaining about how powerful it is, who knows. but im not pissed about that, im pissed cause it looks like the sailors still have regerating health... if you need regenerating (infinte really) health to play, your a pussy, plain and simple.

Ok, i have drives C: and D:, drive D contains my modded versions of GTA, i dont run mta through there. drive C has my clean install of GTA, which i just made an hour ago, for .3. when i install mta .3, i set everything up for the C drive installation, and then when i try to play, the damn looks at my d drive, like this... of course the crc failed, thats my modded game. mta will NOT look at the right installation!! Ive tried resetting the path and restarting mta, and it just keep looking at my d drive, as though the C isnt there. Ive even uninstalled all versions of mta on my pc and re-installed .3, several times, with no success. is there a file i can edit manually to ensure it look at the right install of my game? Edit: problem solved!! thanks to that chap several posts below me, who says it wouldnt find his dll file, i tried b0b0's solution of editing the mta.ini in the windows directory, works perfect. but it is curious that it was listed to drive D AT ALL, when i never chose that drive...
  12. i dont mean wheel size as defined in the default.ide, i mean the wheels.dff and wheels.txd, the model and texture files, which have no impact on online play. i have the xbox wheelmod which gives me the xbox rims instead of the ones that come with the pc, its purely visual. part of the point im trying to make, is that your blocking too much out. if the mods i have are client side only and the data for them isnt sent (player skins, any texture info, particle.txd, etc, you get the idea), why are they not allowed? for the EULA thing, which ive read all of, word-for-fucking-word... thats just wrong, and misleading. clearly it does work, with MANY mods. just add this, or something similar to your EULA, "This mod is only tested on a fresh install of Vice City, and is not guaranteed to work correctly, if at all, if any other modifications are installed. If you have other mods installed, it is recommed that you revert to a clean install before using MTA."
  13. i like that fact that you seem to be cracking down on cheaters, but i think this line needs more clarification... I have a different wheelset and some different palyer skins in my game, they're mods, but they dont affect the online part at all. "These" mods, makes it sounds like there's a spcific mod you have in mind, is there? hate to sound like a nitpicker, but there's no need to get banned on a technicality either.
  14. xhispage, by posting it here, anyone that didnt know it before, now DOES know it, and can potentially become a cheater. if you have "sensitive" information you would like to inform the mta team about, might i suggest using a pm. and why in earth you (anyone) would want a flying firetruck is beyond me. its not useful...
  15. is that not the object of this poll? so far, @ 15 to 6, they're on their way... dgtadude, they have succesfully tested a boat, its not impossible, it probably just isnt stable enough to include as a feature.
  16. erm, how would it lag more? all that needs to be transferred from the client is the boat position, rotation, damage and what actor is controlling it, this isnt anymore data than the rest of the vehicles have. i dont imagine that the actual code to make the boats run as "smooth" as the cars would need to be sent, it would be coded into the client. difficulty in shooting people in the boat isnt the MTA team's concern, thats more on a per-person skill level basis. no, personally im all for it, its more fun to travel by land, air AND sea, than just by land and air, put all the water to good use.
  17. i dont want to start a debate here, but many things arent "necessary", maybe you should rephrase that. they are however low priority. at one time they said they had successfully tested a boat ingame, i dont know how buggy it was, but i think its safe to say they will apear in A version.
  18. i think the list should be ordered differently; cars and heli blades arent weapons, they're means of transportation. they cant be omitted from mta. "illegal" weapons, dont enter the game until a cheater is ingame, and i voted based on a fair game-assumption, so i didnt factor in the minigun and such. imo, the spaz shotgun sucks.
  19. Christ, you guys wont let up, well this is my last post on the topic, ive made my point already. where to begin... "he feels the need to have to use the gun to kill" and exactly what else do/would you use the gun for? it should be noted for the record, that since mtavc has come out, ive used the minigun on one occasion, no more, using the moethods described before. its not something i rely on (and cheaters can be damn hard to kill ). Btw, its hypocritcal to call me a hypocrite when you suggest using the weapon yourself to kill the cheater. this is black and white, either you use it or you dont, there is no inbetween. The problem in question, is legality of the origin of the weapon. im of the opinion that, its ingame, and i personally didnt cheat to get it there, and in that respect, im innocent. therefore since i have done no wrong to obtain this weapon, and anyone else has the same opportunity as i, and its not my exclusive right, its "fair" at that point. cleary we have opposing views on the matter, and until mta makes an offcial declaration about this, i will continue to do so, given the opportunity. at this point i can choose to be an immature prick or not, ill choose not, as ive already made my points, and prefer not to drop to your levels, although the pics are not without humor. if you feel the need to comment on this matter further, these forums do have a PM system active, but i shall not actively participate in this conversation, in this topic, anymore.

    my ideas and suggestions, some of it has been said before, some hasnt, im not gonna weed out what has...(not in any order) 1. vehicles and weapons that arent used during mta gameplay; remove them from the scm. this should help prevent cheaters, as everyone needs the same scm to play, lest their game crash. 2. you guys said you successfully tested a boat ingame. might i suggest placing a couple in future versions. 3. limit the map. like, have EITHER the west side, or the east side available, but not both, its just too spread out for the amount of ppl you get, i spend most of my time driving to a place, just have most ppl gone by the time i get there. 4. server side crc-options, inluding turning the check on or off, and setting the crc value it checks for on certain files. useful for 3rd party maps, and TC's that want the other ppl to be using their map exclusively. 5. an option for the players to set the colors of their names, not really necessary per se, but a nice feature nonetheless. 6. wishful thinking perhaps, but maybe user (server) defined game modes, maybe in the motd file, a list of player spawn points, weapon pickups, basically anything that makes up the core of the game. ammo amounts, health, armor, car spawns, vehicle types, etc. or work with your coders and work out a system by which these can be set, via scm compiler or otherwise, pre-game start. Create-A-Mode! thats all, for now...
  21. i thought about it. thats why i had a couple friends play on my pc too. its the modem. we do great until the server starts getting full. sadly i like playing with 20+ people for true anarchy. this is not a good combo. @ ponch, yea my college has either t1 or t3's and most of my friends have cable. i know what im missing Your friends suck too maybe?! Why are you complaining, you know why you can't kill because of lag, then stop testing it on a server thats going to have 20 people, make your own server and only play with your friends or a small amount of people Don't make me call the WAmbulance! No, they dont suck. neither do i. i dont always start playing on a crowded-ass server, but its not like i can keep other ppl off (starting my own is a last resort kinda thing), i play, more ppl join, the numbers naturally get higher, and shit happens.

Oddly enough, you know how many times ive been kicked or banned, for any reason? none. obviously SOME ppl agree with me... NEWSFLASH! its not. if every person complained about everything that happened in the game thats not fair, this section would be about 1000 pages longer. Edit: i posted my first words about the minigun Nov 28. its been 2.5 weeks, and i have yet to have a moderator, admin, someone who's important, even the mta devs, tell me what im doing is wrong. mr bill has a post just a few before this one, i assume he read the topic somewhat, if im cheating so bad why didnt he say anything? kfg, you think pausing the game so you can take a piss break is cheating, i value your opinion as much as a dead hobo.

  24. I'd be a hypocrite if i told ppl not do something, while i did it myself. id be a hypocrite if i said smoking is bad, while lighting a cigar. I am not as bad as the inital cheater, as i have done no cheating, and am therefore not a hypocrite. i killed a man, and took his gun. that is not cheating. i said it before, when the gun is on the board, it is immediately available to all players on the map, and therefore, fair play. As the gun is now available, fairly, to all players present at the time, its aquisition or method therof is not in question; it was there and i took it, through perfectly fair play. summary: I killed him and got his gun. thats not cheating. you show me where in the documentation that currently comes with mta, that says i cant use the minigun, or any weapons pertaining to the situations i listed above, and i will stop immediatley. it doesnt say jack shit about it. and if they really dont approve of it, the simplest solution is to remove them (useless and unauthorized weapons) from the main.scm, since they have to be loaded before they can be used. and of course, since these guns dont work and arent allowed, there's no loss to us anyway...
