  1. gtasa does have winsock, but not for multiplayer.
  2. As soon as we can... don't ask for release dates.
  3. Well tbh, maybe High, Very High and Medium look a little prettier, but its the game play that matters. Real-time shadows on cars are nice, but hardly essential On the other hand, 32 bit color does make quite a difference sometimes...
  4. For me even with a pretty good graphics card and a fairly good processor, Low is the only setting where its really playable, the other settings seem to periodically lag...

    SA Stats

MTAs built on Blue will provide access to stats from the game, just as you see in-game, such as how much you spend on weapons, wheelie times, best times in bmx races etc. Obviously mods can get and set these statistics as they want.
  6. Sometime soon we'll probably release a document detailing how blue works and how much control you're going to have over it. It'll be very substantial, and we'll be working hard to add features that are missing from the intial release.
  7. It isn't slow for me, if you don't touch the mouse it seems to behave almost exactly like VC's vehicle camera.
  8. The max vehicles has actually been reduced in SA from 130 to 110, while the max peds has been increased from 80 to 140. It'd obviously be possible to fake things with blue and increase the number of vehicles and peds ad-infinitum if you wished. You could make an MMO with blue, just as you could make almost any other type of mod, though it'd clearly be harder.
  9. We're making online San Andreas - if San Andreas doesn't have a cross hair in certain circumstances, then neither will we. Mods of course could add one if they wanted...
  10. As the others have said, we'd love to be more "open", but we can't really be more open until we've released a release based on blue, as its very hard for the community to understand what we're talking about when they haven't seen anything like blue before. Once we have a release, we'll try to explain what we're changing based on older releases in a blog-like format. We're never going to satsify everyone, but as Bump says, Blue is a turning point in the entire way MTA works and is run, we'll have more information on this in the future.
  11. In the longer term, anything should be possible with blue. In the short term our intentions are to keep it simple and work from there.
  12. Please search, thats been brought up at least 2000 times.
  13. We haven't actually decided how we're going to go about admin control in blue. However we decide to do it, it'll certainly offer a load more flexibility and potential than the existing admin system. It will be controlled by individual mods though. This whole concept will be clearer to the community when we actually release
  14. I agree with Cray and Ransom. Even if you don't play for that long, its a great game! Just as people still play GTA3 now, you'll probably find a moment in 2 years time when you think "I'd like some 80's!"
  15. Perhaps you should have clicked the big "Click here to download it now!" on http://www.mtavc.com.
  16. Thats a good point, I think unless you do a full install you won't get the radio... But, if it says theres a audio hardware error, there is, and you need to resolve that.
  17. You can't have the "legit" version if you don't have the CD. You must be using the NO-CD patch (which is illegal in your case) and anyway, the patch doesn't fix any audio issues. Check your sound drivers and try deleting gta-vc.set in My Documents\GTA Vice City User Files.
  18. Well, its a problem with your hardware setup, as it says. I've had that many years ago, I think. I can't remember what the solution was, but I'd try updating or reinstalling your sound card drivers.
  19. When you download anything off the internet, be it a piece of software, a game demo or a modification for a game like half-life(2) - you risk downloading a virus with it. The best way to ensure you aren't downloading a virus is to get a virus scanner, but of course you can use common sense - are other people playing the mod? Big mods like CS etc aren't exactly going to have viruses with them - they're propper mods. The same applies to MTA mods - if the mod is popular, its very unlikely to have anything that would damage your computer.
  20. I'm afraid that won't happen. Of course, a mod author could replace the files - if they want to.
  21. As has been said before (search) its up to the author to make it compatible with 0.5, as far as I know this hasn't been done.
  22. It'd be up to the mod author if they downloaded the handling or anything else they wanted from the server.
