Sounds like reinstalling windows would be useful here.... eAi

I think this comes under the modding ideas, which won't be supported afaik for some time. In the future, I think this kind of "mod" will be supported. eAi

what engine... the GTA: Vice City game engine, or the MTA server/client engine? uh, actually its entirely possible. the player actor skins are stored as txd's (texture dictionaries for those of you who dont mod) the extra skins that you downloaded and and want to use could be stored in a different folder, and mta could just look in that folder instead of the gta3.img (holds the main models and textures), for certain skins. they already use a similar method for loading their "mta.scm" and "mtas.scm", so it COULD work. the trouble would be in managing the skins (who has what skin) through the mta client, but i dbout it would be beyond their (mta team) capabilities. Ok, let me explain. I know it entirely possible to change the skins in txd files, but for mta to do it while the game is running (you'd surely have to do that otherwise you'd be waiting for quite a long time before you could start playing wouldn't work. You can't edit the files while in game. SO i supose you could wait. Thats 200KB x 25 (4.88MB). Thats a lot to download. For a modem user that a good 10 minutes, and probably about a minute for dsl+ users. Also, if it was possible to edit txds while gta is running, you'd have to reduce the download rate for skins a lot. Because otherwise it would lag you, and other players. That would mean it would take a long time for textures to download. eAi

Not really possible with the engine. Sorry. Downloading wouldn't pratical, but allowing users all with the same mod(s) to play on servers would be good, and possible, though potentially unstable.eAi -discuss-

gta3 mta was seriously buggy.. I think thats why no-one plays it... though watch that bar... eAi

The /msg function was implemented quite late in the development, I think, concequently it isn't very well thought out. eAi

Thats what i meant too... Sorry I missread your post (once every 5 seconds!) eAi
-
Don't type all in caps its difficult to read and makes you look stupid. eAi
-
Hm... 5 times a second. That would mean each player would only move once every 5 seconds. No, I don't think so. There is already compression, and data minimal data is sent for players a long way away from you. eAi

Its a normal game server model. No P2P is involved. eAi
-
No there isn't.... Servers don't have access to files for obvious privacy reasons... eAi

My anti-cheat is able to do that... Though its not released yet... http://mtaac.opencoding.net/ eAi

I'm currently writing an anti-cheat system that should be much more effective than the mta one... See the website http://mtaac.opencoding.net for details... and i'll post info. Its main advantage is it's flexibility. If a new cheat is released, an update can be released, very quickly, and it will be automatically loaded by the clients. Also, the global banning, based on hardware id is very useful... people banned on one server are banned on all servers running anti-cheat. eAi

Nice idea, but I making a stable core if the first priority, then ideas like this could come. eAi
-
um... what? Why do you think theres all these topics on the forum to do with cheating... Why do you think this topic exists? Unless your joking of course... eAi

Read the manual plz? (thats what RTFM means) Home key btw (i think haven't played for ages)... eAi

As we all know, a sound core needs to be built before the little bits are added on to the sides... The 0.4 core will be more stable... once thats out of the door, the game modes etc can begin propperly... eAi

Ive finally played Multi theft auto (with disasterous cons.)
eAi replied to a topic in General MTA discussion
Thats very weird. Never heard of that happening under any circumstance (or there'd be a virus out there that did it)... Check that its really a fuse and not somthing else... Did the computer actually turn on at all? I doubt very much that its MTA's or Vice City's fault, or any piece of software. eAi -
customizable skins aren't really possible... they're too large to transfer to every client..., though with new game modes, perhaps telling gangs appart won't be a problem. Names on the map, again isn't really possible. Bigger names though might be, or perhaps with different colours.eAi

Doubt it... Its a lot of work to find out how those things work.eAi

The browser can't access the php files they're just html files as far as it is concerned, the only difference is for the server. eAi
-
Not true... you can only by at spawn and for a certain ammount of time.eAi
-
Spectator mode may or may not be included in the final version. The version of spectator you see in the video is running alongside mta (not part of the client). eAi

Syncing the ball would be easy, if it could be found... eAi
