I was a little surprised about the turnout but then again, I believe it might have been due to the slight problems at the start. I came across some annoyance to begin with because of the constant “reset game path” message appearing whenever I wanted to start (usually after one restart it works fine). However besides the holdup at the beginning everything turned out fine from my view. While we didn’t have the numbers this time, I rarely crashed and when I did, it was with everyone else (server side). Maybe the others might agree or even disagree (I’d be surprised because the fighting with fun) but I thought the sync was the best yet. The shooting accuracy was more precise than ever and not once did I ever come across any lag.

Let’s hope tomorrow is another good turnout. I’m looking forward to it and considering word has spread since the previous test, hopefully more can contribute.

I never knew how low the points were for the originals (not that there important anyway) because I personally had much more fun on them than any of the others, mainly because at the time, R* didn’t have any competition and the Playstation didn’t really have many games of its kind at the time unlike today. The best mission ever was no doubt on GTA2, I can’t remember specifically the job you had to do, but it required you to have around 20-30 people following you. I think you had to explode something at a military base and then all hell breaks loose with the cops. It just ended in total chaos.

Fantastic achievement. I remember all the criticism that was thrown at the developers for the delaying of the SA release back in the day, so for the team to be recognised for their efforts and dedication is always appreciated. The community is constantly growing each day and long may it continue.

*Cough*... Wow. Hasn't time changed?

Both of these crashes occurred in VC. I personally think it was just a coincidence that they both happened when I was reversing with a passenger as I stated above.

Overall I really enjoyed the session last night and it was good to roll with some of the other vets. As I’ve mentioned TC, you deserve all the credit given. I did come across some issues, though they have already been mentioned so hopefully they will get patched up. The first few rounds in the stubby war was a little insane, not all the shots were completely synced, there were times where I should have been finished, but the bullets just went straight through me. However after the change of server, it actually eased up and it started becoming a fair contest. I say a contest but in general it wasn’t competitive, just fun, the way it should be. I thought everything else ran smooth, much more than the original version. I remember I crashed once with sugar, though it was when I was reversing. The same situation happened again when a passenger entered my vehicle, I reversed again then crashed. Maybe it was just a coincidence that it happened both at the same time. The chat was on and off really, I noticed it more ingame rather than the client that my message would appear 2-3 seconds later then it should have been.

It has to be a Samuel L Jackson. Either the stupid one he said before he got slaughtered by the sharks in that rip off movie “Deep Blue Sea” or that “Snakes on a Plane” moment.

We’ve had all these similar complaints, however in reality there is nothing anybody can do in this forum. It is a shame however because we want the community to be based on fair play and respect, though you always get the small minority who are just spoiled little brats behind the computer. The only negative and quite frustrating factor here is that some people believe that if one server is controlled by these idiots, then they view the whole community as the same. In future, as some guys have said here, try and go for the more populated servers. These generate the most players because they have earned a reputation over time as being servers where you will get the best of your game.

I’m a little late on the topic. I thought for a moment the thread would contain a few posts from the veterans of the past. I remember being a rookie in that era and wasn’t really involved in the community scene until the early release of 0.3. Any KFC or ULK guys lurking around at all?

It’s always good to see the modification get respectable notice considering the history behind this development. I mean to imagine it will have been 8 years in 2011 is saying something and we are still continuing to grow to this day.

It’s always good to see some old vets pop back every now and again. I remember one of the hardest matches I competed in was against you lot when I was a beginner. Shame we don’t really see much of you guys on the IRC anymore.

It’s always good to see people drop by and reminisce about the old days. As for anything happening in the future, I suppose there’s an old saying of never say never. This thread might be of some interest....

Ah the “stubby” wars. Great memories. Nothing would make me smile more than playing against a glitching Russian and beating him at his own game. While San Andreas will always be a great game, in my opinion, there was something about the MTAVC/3 that never really made me enjoy MTASA as much as I first thought. I suppose it was the switch between the generations of players, as not everybody I met in 0.x came over into MTASA (some I lost contact with altogether), so it wasn’t the same fighting alongside a new breed of players and learning the new techniques.

A. teh whaaaaaaaaaa.. Q. Where is my robhol?

Good to hear the progression as always. I was never much of a GTA3 player for the PC as I was always the old school console gamer back in the early 2000s. I feel eventually a few of us could perhaps organise a reunion based on both of these games, whether or not these new versions will ever be released (fingers crossed they do). We could spread word around the community. A few hours one afternoon perhaps. Though until that day comes, all the best with the development.

Ah I remember those days where the plates were left over, old soda cans were just dumped beside the keyboard and probably some old issues of PC Gamer lying around. I had a right clean up when I got my new system. It took hours to rearrange all the cabling with the phone line.

Well, this was different. Normally I’d expect the same repetition of stunts on a motorbike we have seen thousands of times before. I just love how she survives a beating and yet manages to get out of the door tbh.

Always seeing these types of threads bring back many memories and just to think I haven’t actively played VC since around 2006, shows how quickly time has changed indeed. The situation has always been a myth to the “old school” community which were around in the 0.x days. The problem is was that there was so much promise when the early screenshots of VC on the BLUE platform were published around 2005, maybe earlier, I don’t have the best of memories, people wanted the hype to eventually become a reality. The idea was that VC would be the fallback after the completion of SA, though those who have been around as the years have gone by knew that the SA task took longer then expected. Unfortunately, the demand was growing day-by-day for an SA release that in the end any hope of 0.x reconciliation started fading away. Over the years there has been a demand, various topics have been created urging a release of the classic duo of VC and GTA3 to reach full potential, though as the years have passed, the dust seems certain to stay put and won’t be blown off anytime soon it seems. Towncivilian has no doubt shown that there are people who are willing to contribute to the uprising of such history, though while I am not one to judge any of the developers, it baffles me to why no support has been shown.

A. Screw you. Q. Should we play find the robhol?

David Villa will shut you Dutch up, hopefully. No offence. Good team you guys have got.

While Kesha’s lyrics might be a piece of crap, she’d still get it. As for the metal addiction, it’s somewhat true, then again I don’t believe every gamer has the same instincts of slitting their wrists and wearing black nail vanish. Right, time to throw even more crap into this thread. Nothing beats seeing girls riding up and down 50 metre poles in Ibiza with all the hottest club anthems and pretty much everyone wasted. Oh, dont forget the music as well.
