Samurai_Ohk
The GTA series, also referred as a "murder simulator" is getting alot of negative attention in an Alabama slaying of cops by someone who played lots of GTA day and night. Yet another sad and controversial issue among the gaming industry. This special will be on Sunday 19 on 60 mins. Here's a link to a preview. http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video ... lecampaign Link to comment
Guardians Proper
Since when is this a new concept? It's been this way since Grand Theft Auto 1. Always blame movies, games, and rap. Link to comment
Iggy
May want to look here, Blokker had a lot to say about this subject. http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?p=122771 Link to comment
Samurai_Ohk
Yeah, i know, old concept. well, this one just seemed to have more substance. Supposedly the suspect played GTA all day and night for months still............its ridiculous. So the guy never answered. Interesting Link to comment
Iggy
You shouldn't be playing these games if you are going to copy the games and do things like these anyways. Link to comment
Ransom
Whats to blame is the person who let the damn kid play GTA day/night and have no other life. Ya know he really woulda liked MTA /sick joke btw he doesnt look like a day and night play-for-months gaming nerd. He probably just shot those people like a gangster Link to comment
orappa
I put the blame solely on the press. They want to stir up people's passions even if that means lying or being selective about the truth *cough* Daily Mail *cough* I've heard reports by psychology experts saying that there's no link between videogames and real-life violence (in normal people anyway) and that videogames can actually improve problem-solving skills. I didn't see the press printing that I think Hollywood must be glad that videogames came along because they used to get the brunt of the lawsuits. I went to see Sin City a couple of weeks back and one guy gets his head literally pounded into mush, not to mention "manual" castration (if you catch my drift). I've never seen anything like that in GTA. Link to comment
MAD_BOY
didn't we all kill someone when we were erm..kids? *waits for reaction* ah well, another thing where the games industry gets blamed for doing nothing wrong Link to comment
Samurai_Ohk
Yup, games are just a good scapegoat i suppose. Who's not to say a Flight simulator is a "plane crashing simulator". Same here JonChappel, i've read dozens of reports and have written a few research papers on it for some of my courses, and there is no concrete data that links games to cause violent behaviour. On a related note, some kid is being charged with Animal cruelty for jumping on turtles because he thought they were evil. Mario is to blame. (Not real) Link to comment
VCES>baby-g
think how many thousands of people play GTA and games like it, then think how many people have gone mad and killed people, supposedly because of them, 2 or 3 i think, yes, games must make everyone go bad Link to comment
