You can still drive but suddenly your vehicle is gone. Or when you are a passenger in a helicopter the driver presses ESCAPE while above the ocean so you drown and he still lifes. If the MTA-team makes a new screen for the ESCAPE-button with which you actualy stay ingame then this problem will be solved.

They've got a new escape menu (shown in the screenshots). Presumably this allows for that.
