OpiuM. Posted August 25, 2004 Author Posted August 25, 2004 then why in the hell are you telling me to format roflmao. you dont know, anyone?
OpiuM. Posted August 25, 2004 Author Posted August 25, 2004 basiclly when i select "Windows XP" it gives me a blinking underscore on the upper right of my screen.
Slothman Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 blinking cursor = fubars boot.ini or other system files. i would try doing a repair install of xp if ithe boot.ini isnt the problem. note: xp really doesnt like not being on the primary partition
vass69 Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 mine is on the primary partition and its very happy btw dont need to format i think, reinstall xp withour format
OpiuM. Posted August 26, 2004 Author Posted August 26, 2004 ya, i cant just format, my ppl are sending me a repartition CD, LOL..... somone needs to tell me how to make a linux partition laugh.
Slothman Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 first install windows on yer primary partition, then install linux. use the "auto alocate" button if it's an options. or heres a amall guide /= depends on the distrobution/how much you are installing. swap= should be slightly bigger than the amount of Ram you have /home= as big as you can get it, this is where all the user files go
OpiuM. Posted August 26, 2004 Author Posted August 26, 2004 well i should mension i have one partition already. my compaq came with a recovery partition and a deafault partition, i tryed to add a linux partition, in linux2 format (forget the full name of the format) in any case, ill format, repartition, ect later.
b0b0 Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Opium, what do you use as your boot loader? Try using fdisk.
