One Question: Is it possible.

Recommended Posts

I'll try to explain it better -

Mta exactlly as it is now, except when you get in the game you stil have peds and traffic and cars and cops etc

Maybe even missions. - Although that would obviously have to be tweaked and not exactlly as singple player.

ok, let's ASSUME you're able to sync peds&traffic, what would you when you're on a mission? there are ingame cut-scenes, and you can't just make that one player sees that scenes while someone else is already playing the mission. This would be very difficult to solve, there are so many limitations in MP that it can't be done...

well, this guy krytos said in the GTA forums, that you could make each "sector" of VC a "level" i.e. every time that you change fromthe docks to the airport it would disconnect from one server and go into another (or portions of one server id assume), i dont really know what he said, as i forgot and the GTAF at this moment is down for me.....

His theory works more in a large level in games that support widespread servers (truly massively multiplayer). Theoretically anything is possible, given the right amount of time and money.

So, who wants to start paying me to work full-time on this? :)

You could always ask rockstar for a large one-off payment to help develop the mod, maybe they will because you supporting their games, and your making a mod that doesnt actually change the gameplay of the game they made, where as most mods change that, so they will be flattered by that of course.

Really all your doing is making the game they made BETTER, by putting multiplayer in it, I only purchased Vice City for PC because I heard of the mods, so obviously you are getting more money for Rockstar.

So come on whats a lousy 10 grand or so to them?

I'm talking about mod development.

As for servers thats actually quite easy, servers don't cost much, the mod will be popular (so there will be many), and it's not too hard to find someone to sponcer a server for free.

Large phone companies quite often do it. Telstra Game Arena etc.

:?:

now about Cray's payment, I also think that if you put some paypal button on the site "to support our developers" you will get money, there are always weirdo's who do such things. But IF you do that, Rockstar has any right to sue you, because you make money by editing something they made. So don't do it man :P

Yeah... but they've had the option from day 1 and they've never done it. In fact, they specifically ask not to be given donations.
