Cudda Kine Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 Well, mta should make a checker for the mta client. It will check to see if the handline.cfg is the default size (26,082bytes). and if it doesnt match the size, mta wont run. MTA should make this. (And checks the gta3.img to see if its the default size)
me Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 it is possible to make edited files the same size as the originals though... you'd have to run a check at the very end, in the middle, and at the start (at least) to be sure it is a real file...
Evil Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 yes its possible thats why i sayd on the last post it could be done but i guess someone didnt like that and deleted it hey im just trying to help before the release. deleting post about it is not gona help once it comes out and if there is a possible way im sure someone will google it and figure it out
philoboy Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 my solution to this is: create or provide the proper handling.cfg create a svf file with it and put it in ur installer and make mta check if the crc is the same using the svf file what do u think about this ?
MasterEvilAce Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 philoboy knows what he's talking about CRC check it
tjaisv Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 Do what u gotta do, because I don't want to be crashing everytime some dipshit comes on with a trainer.
Cudda Kine Posted September 6, 2003 Author Posted September 6, 2003 yeah. it would be better to make a CRC Checker instead of file size checker.
EagleEye812 Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 But I want to use my new models! You can! Just use VCMM or something, and UNINSTALL the mods when you want to play MTA! otherwise the game will crash
Posty Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 He means he wants to use new models on MTA> I want to do this also, cuz me and my bro had texture problems with mods on our LAN game . And no, i dont use mods on other servers, only for LAN.
me Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 ya... using new models messes stuff up... well, actually, what messes it up are the collision files... You think you're a bus, and everyone else thinks you're a car = crash.
GreyRabbit Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 People need to find another way to show off their models. I just want the game to be as stable as possible. Fewer crashes would be the way to go.
Cudda Kine Posted September 8, 2003 Author Posted September 8, 2003 Just make 2 Grand theft auto installation folders. "Grand Theft Auto Vice City Online" and "Grand Theft Auto Vice City".
