Gamesnert
Windowed isn't meant to make you able to minimize... -.- It's just so you can do something else in the meantime. (I don't even need windowed! I have 2 screens ^^) Link to comment
norby89
in window mode, bring up the console or the chat, that will make the cursor appear Link to comment

Whatever game you play in windowed mode, it's ALWAYS slower than when you play the same game on the same PC in fullscreen. Link to comment

And when im windowed and try to walk slowly with ALT , it starts to make weird Windows sound, really you should put ALT tab function in DP3 Link to comment

Gamesnert
Would be nice if they could. You know, for as far as I know, if you alt+tab you receive and send a lot less information through your cable, making it annoying for others. Like health not dropping, disconnecting etc. Or if you were in a car with someone else driving, you are suddently in the water and don't know how. And it's not necessary. Buy dual-screen or do it in windowed mode. Link to comment

haybail
They say the GTA engine pauses when you minimize or esc to the main menu causing most noticable invulnerable or eratic sync. But no mention of what specifically happeneds when you alt tab, although it may be said the above happeneds when you lose focus. In window mode, the built in one to mta, you can't lose focus unless you minimize but in some of the older dll's you can alt tab and overlay new windows above gta. You could check how that affects sync and if as badly as minimizing like in sa mp or the older mta's. Because you can't lose focus in the built in one ( without minimizing ) I would quess mta would of tested and known exactly. Or played it safe. Link to comment

I don't think MTA will ever modify the GTA engine if that's what you're pointing at. I wouldn't like it if that happens. It's cool how it is, still singleplayer without any harm and multiplayer that's still good too! ^^ Link to comment
DiSaMe
I think minimizing the game must be possible. Cheaters? They use windowed mode and don't care about FPS. And there are much more ways to cheat. And sometimes when you MUST go to desktop, you have to exit the game. This is much more annoying than cheaters. Link to comment

Just attach 2 monitors to your PC and you can switch between them. But cheaters aren't the biggest issue! As haybail said: They say the GTA engine pauses when you minimize or esc to the main menu causing most noticable invulnerable or eratic sync. But no mention of what specifically happeneds when you alt tab, although it may be said the above happeneds when you lose focus. So it should become possible. But only if you're DISCONNECTED. And then you can just quit. Only deconning saves almost no time anyway... Link to comment

Guest
I really wont buy a dual screen just for mta but heres an alternative, Make it so u can use window mode in-game not only on the load up screen and maybe make it so wen u press ALT + Enter it enters/exits window mode as it is quite annoying having to log out of the game and type windows mode just to check ur messages, Also if you think window mode is tooo small try this, Enter window twice in the console then it lets you stretch the screen (Cache: Not to the best graphics) Link to comment

But I noticed that in windowed mode, MTA would stay on top... Quite annoying. Luckily I don't need it! Link to comment
DiSaMe
A little question to MTA developers: don't you think that making it able to minimize the game doesn't stop cheaters? What about those noobs who are using trainers? So if player is a cheater, he will find another way to cheat if first way doesn't work. And server admins can take care of them, don't they? Alt+Tab to avoid death, then ban! Simple. Ooohh, i have an idea. Make events onClientMinimizeGame and onClientRestoreGame or something like these. That should work good because that could be controlled by script. For example, canceling onClientMinimizeGame event could do it just like it's always done now. Or just inform others about alt+tab, so it would be easy to decide if player is cheating. And of course, it should be able to Alt+Tab when player not connected to any server. Link to comment

Lordy
btw, I don't know how/why, but I can also minimise when I'm in windowed mode and just press on the MTA bar at taskbar. Just like any other windows.. I guess that must be a bug then? Link to comment
