  1. Congrats to the Devs, the server operators and the community as a whole. Great to see MTA getting the recognition it deserves in receiving the No.1 Mod of the Year Award.
  2. That object has no native collision, so "There's yer problem". Simple fix within MTA, using the engineReplace functions and a new collision file - not sure about SAMP.
  3. The results of the Mod of the Year vote haven't been released yet, only the 'Editor's Choice Awards' have been published thus far.
  4. Yes, I read your post. You said you followed the instructions. The instructions (in the zip file for that mod) said add the files in your gta3.img. If you did that then you've most likely corrupted your gta3.img. If you didn't do that (and thus, didn't follow the instructions, but posted here asking for advice instead) then the problem is something else.

    SA-MP To MTA-SA

General rule of thumb is anything SA-MP can do, MTASA can do better. More importantly, there are a vast number of things that can be done in MTASA which aren't possible at all in SA-MP. The potential here for you to be creative is far greater than it is there, so you'd definitely be making the right choice to make the switch.
  6. https://mtasa.com/moddb/ It says in huge big numbers there, as of posting this, it's 5 days 16 hours 15 minutes 45 seconds remaining
  7. If you tried following the 'instructions' in the zip file before coming here to ask about scripting (that is, tried inserting the models into your GTA SA game files), you may have already corrupted your gta3.img archive. That would most certainly result in the instant-crash, if that's the case.
  8. You're missing the point son. The problem lies in the lack of creativity in simply copying a game concept that others (in this case, us) have taken the time to develop and refine. Considering Qaisjp is involved in this, I think the chances of this HnS ending up like ours is extremely high. DKR has been the most popular server in MTA averaged over a period of 3-4 years, I understand it's difficult for other servers not to be tainted by that, but again, considering Qaisjp is involved, this is a pretty blatant copycat effort. Additionally, I didn't say 'stealing', I said 'stealing ideas' (I more frequently referred to it simply as 'copying'). One is illegal, one is low conduct, as I've mentioned twice already. How hard can it be to correctly quote what I've said? Copying is a dishonest and unfortunate practice, considering the flexibility the MTA Devs have worked so hard to provide for us. My belief is copying/cloning should be strongly discouraged, while creativity and originality should be encouraged. It's really very simple, and a pretty reasonable position. It seems this thread is heading south at an incredible rate. Who'd have thought suggesting people make use of what is provided for us by creating something truly new instead of copying would be so contentious...
  9. Your exaggeration isn't necessary, I was referring to a very specific minigame which exists only on one server. But you almost sound like you support the practice of cloning servers and resources. MTA is a platform for creativity, for people to come up with ideas and use MTA's functionality to make it happen. I don't understand why it's necessary for such blatant theft of ideas when there is so much potential in the tools we have been given - it is, as I said, very low conduct. MTA would be fantastic if everyone could be original, and respect the originality of others. People like Qaisjp (and you?) who seem to condone the practice of copying in place of creativity just ruin it for those of us who actually make an effort to keep MTA fresh. Actually he did make it, it was the only HnS gamemode in existence when it was made and there were no documented cases of anything of that nature existing at the time or previously. Given your clear bias, I wouldn't be willing to believe your claim to the contrary. Your 'unknown author' doesn't really support your claim either.
  10. No, not in Map Editor. There is a scripting function to allow you to adjust an object's scale in an MTA server (or at least, there was a function for that, if the note on the Wiki page regarding compatibility with 1.0.x only is true). You could only scale in the XYZ directions, not X or Y or Z separately (i.e. you couldn't 'stretch' it). It also did not scale the collision, as noted on the Wiki page. However, since it sounds like you'll be converting to SA-MP, that function will not be applicable for you, and I doubt SA-MP has an equivalent function. Your only other option would be to import the object into a modeller and scale it there, then export and use object replacement, but again, possible with MTA but perhaps not with SA-MP.

    Server list spam

Another one attempting to imitate DKR: This server also features a selection of poorly cloned DKR resources, it seems they have a chip on their shoulder. Server IP is 190.205.134.2:22003. I'd appreciate its removal from the server browser list.

    Own Animation..

According to the roadmap, custom animations currently have no target version. That's good in the sense that it can be implemented 'easily' in an update if someone is successful in getting it to work, but bad in the sense that there is no way to know when that might be, nor is there necessarily going to be any motivation for development work on it as it isn't on the 'to-do' list for any upcoming versions of MTA. tl;dr - your guess is as good as mine (or anyone else's, most likely).

    New animation

I should qualify my earlier post in saying that ccw has since put a great deal of time and effort into improving custom object support (LODs, released a few days after I posted that), and my sincere thanks go out to him for that. That is a major feature which, like custom animations, had been postponed for an extended period of time, but has now received the attention it deserves. Hopefully custom animations will be revisited at some point too, there's a lot of potential in that as well. The comment regarding the roadmap is probably still valid, I think Talidan agreed that in recent times it hasn't been fully utilised the way it should have been, in keeping the community up to date on version progress. But that also seems to have been rectified, which is great to see. But thanks for your kind words LooooP

    Some questions.

Sounds like it might be worth for you to read up on the Wiki, it's a great source of information for someone starting out: https://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Resources https://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Scr ... troduction https://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/ACL ...may be relevant to your needs. There are plenty of other topics on the Wiki worth reading up on though. Once you've read through the ACL page and made necessary additions as mentioned by Zango, typing "/start resourcename" (without quotations) on the server will start a resource. If your resource is called "Helloworld", you'd type "/start Helloworld". There's also /stop resourcename and /restart resourcename. Definitely consult the Wiki before you begin.

    SA-MP used MTA source.

Ah well, I guess that may very well be the case in the end. Hopefully any further discussions here can be kept civil by all participants. I'm just glad that lil_Toady is satisfied that no license violation has occurred due to the points mentioned in my edit above.

    SA-MP used MTA source.

Besides the fact that this 'SPAWN_METAL' guy has presumably pinched code straight out of MTA and injected it into SA-MP, to give those shmucks some of the functionality we've had for years, I find it pretty concerning that out of 14 pages of posts only one person questioned whether the practice of redistributing code without permission is allowed/morally sound (and they received no response, funny that). To me, that pretty much sums up SA-MP in a nutshell. Anyway, @diegofkda, this isn't the SA-MP community, where almost anything related to 'MTA' is instantly deleted. I don't see why topics such as this can't be discussed, so long as things are kept fair and reasonable, without unnecessary flaming. Perhaps there's someone out there who can shed more light on the matter. EDIT: Apparently this is acceptable if it remains a plugin, with sources open and due credit given to the MTA team, which seems to be the case thus far.
  17. Spyder bug? Most people call it Alien CJ When you say 'custom CJ script', if you're referring to replacing the CJ ped's model, it is more troublesome than the other peds. This is due to the ability to customise CJ's clothes and body type; he comes in pieces, rather than a single mesh. So you might be shot down, I'm not sure if there's a way of accomplishing what you want to do. I've never really looked into it though, perhaps someone else out there has experimented with this. When the Alien CJ bug does occur, you can only fix it by restarting MTA, as Solidsnake14 said. You can also usually change skins to an unaffected one, but that doesn't help you if you're only interested in CJ.
  18. Zarkolix, as alluded to in my above posts, he repeatedly violated intellectual property rights by stealing content off others and redistributing it as his own. This is illegal, it ruins the MTA experience of others whose work is stolen or cloned, who put time and effort into their creations. This isn't a case of other people telling him what to do, it's simply highlighting the difference between right and wrong. He made mistakes but he did not learn from them. We're not discouraging him from doing things he likes, we're encouraging him to stop his stealing and copying ways, to go out and enjoy his childhood, not sit at home behind a computer playing a game which was intended for adults, not children. Most especially encouraging him to do something more productive with his life than undermining the creativity of others.

    any one help me

'Soon'. MTA is an open-source project, the developers effectively volunteer their time to fix problems such as this, so it'd be hard to say with certainty when a fix will be ready, especially if it's only affecting a small number of servers. Perhaps if the Full Theft Auto team uploaded their client download files to their website or something, you could download from there and avoid whatever problem is caused from downloading it through MTA (maybe they've already done this).
  20. I really do think it's for the best, this has become an unhealthy environment of your own creation. I wouldn't condone children your age playing GTA/MTA at the best of times, certainly not without parental supervision, and most certainly not ones who've accrued the level of disdain from others that you have. You'll regret it later if your memories of your younger years consist of you sitting behind a computer, stealing/ripping-off the work of others, and copping abuse for it. You should be outside playing or something, enjoy your childhood while it lasts. I'll be impressed if you honestly follow through.
  21. In response to my question in... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37503
  22. Also worth keeping in mind that the export from SketchUp to 3DSMax will truncate any material names you use to 8 characters or less. You should always keep your material names 8 characters or less, or the name will be automatically truncated and will no longer match your texture filename and/or the name you define in the TXD, resulting in the same no-texture problem you experienced in MTA.

    simple help

You're wasting your time with that mate, it's just a collection of poorly copied scripts made by Qaisjp and friends in a feeble attempt to clone DKR and other servers. Don't even bother.

    New animation

Hard to say, it seems like some important planned features such as custom animations and improved custom object support are postponed in favour of easier but less crucial ones, like SWAT ropes or whatever. If I recall correctly, custom animations was originally intended to appear in MTA1.1 (perhaps even 1.0?), it was then postponed and re-listed for release in MTA1.2, and has apparently been postponed again since an incomplete MTA1.2 is going to be released soon. So I guess you're probably looking at somewhere between MTA1.3 and never. The roadmap isn't as good an indication of development progress as it used to be.
  25. Is anyone able to explain why 1.2's released is considered to be 'drawing closer', when according to the roadmap it is only 11% complete? Even 1.1.2's completion is just 51%, far from complete, assuming the roadmap is accurate. Why is this being pushed through so quickly? There are plenty of important features intended for 1.2 which are still incomplete (some of which were originally intended for 1.0 and 1.1), and some issues for 1.1.x which are unresolved, according to the roadmap. This seems a bit rushed, and really doesn't appear to contain the same quantity & quality of additions as previous MTA releases did. Why not give it the development time it deserves?
