  1. Irrelevant to MTA, if players want this they can use Ventrilo or another VoIP.
  2. You can safely use setAccountData, just check if user is logged in Oh sh1t, lil Toady posted in the forum! So what you're saying is, it only freaks out and wipes all account data if the user's not logged in? And it's XML-based, isn't it?
  3. The Game-Monitor based server browser that's been plaguing DP2.* is hopeless, IMO. IIRC (and I f*cking hope so! ) it is to be completely replaced in DP3. You can try this server: IP 85.17.6.48 Port 3333 If it doesn't work, try again 2min later. If it still doesn't work, you're f*cked. At that point, check routers and firewalls for port blocks. If you're not admin on your router/system, talk to them.
  4. Then you should watch game-monitor more often. Heheh, poor you, Simbad, did Ace hurt your feelings? Anyways, servers are NEVER full (as in 128 players) and thus there is no reason to change it. Just wasted time. IF more players come over to the light side from Sa-MP though, it might be another matter... but people are stubborn. There are system resources both server and client side to take into consideration also... Syncing 128 players would be a bitch, let alone even more of them.
  5. My server runs remotely on linux (APM) and I don't have access to the console.
  6. If you can't take a single crash I recommend hosting an other game! MTA is really stable but crashes will always happen. I can take a crash now and then, but they happen several times a day, and it's phucking annoying. Not sure about the specs, nothing odd in the logs before the crash.

  11. My server San Fierro Deathmatch has a little problem: it crashes some times. It's not too frequent, (1-2/24h) but one crash is one too many, and it disrupts gameplay (duh) and scripts. (duh again) It runs on Linux (Ubuntu or debian, not sure) There are no dumps to be found, no "pipe" log files, nothing weird in server.log, prior to the crashes. Since the server is public and has a lot of resources, disabling and re-enabling individual resources is not an option, it would take too long and make the server unusable in the meantime.
  12. Wrong section. Also, the problem appears to be that you have written the arguments to the function the wrong way. it's Source, Command, Argument 1, Arg. 2, etc, not Command, source.
  13. I already thought of that, but what if the user deletes his whole resource cache? ZAP! Protection gone. (Oh, and gold medal for actually sticking to the topic here )
  14. Can we PLEASE stay on topic? I seem to remember the topic being "Ideas for permban system", not "What the MTA team should do", "Someone had a cookie system or something", "This is a bad idea" or for that matter, "what I had for lunch today".
  15. First off, the methods I am looking for, will only be used manually, when the judgement of trusted administrators dictates they should. Second, I didn't ask people (that is mainly to say, you, Gamesnert) about how to use it, when to use it, whether to use it or pretty much anything except for what I did ask in the first post.
  16. Gamesnert, I didn't ask for methods that don't work... Also, you can't effectively prevent cheating in any other way than kicking/banning.
  17. So.. I thought we could brainstorm for a bit here. Due to DP2's regrettable lack of a reliable way to ban someone (IP bans take, what, like 15 seconds to evade? ) I started making my own system, I use various methods, none of which I will describe here, for obvious reasons, but the more methods, the more security, helping keeping cheaters, as well as other assorted pests, away. Any way that might help the server identify a certain person without risk of confusing said person with another one, server side or client side, is of interest.

    SA-MP pro, easy: Player COUNT. Not even base, but COUNT. Other than that I couldn't find another pro for my life. Dp2 is in my opinion still better than SA-MP, but when DP3 comes there's no room for doubt: the only thing holding people to SA-MP will be ignorance and stubbornness. (Which is, I guess, to some degree, true now also)

  20. Contest ! Lousy idea, and you're only likely to receive crap too, seeing as no scripter is likely to do this much work for so little, when it's not even sure they'll get paid. I suggest either less work or more money, and dropping the competition: this is work for several WEEKS and nobody wanna waste that.
  21. X and Y = 0.. I think X is sideways rotation and Y is forwards and backwards - at any rate, the equivalent for SA-MP's angle parameter is rotZ. And I think SA-MP's rotations are clockwise while MTA's are counter-clockwise, or vice versa.

    As you're blatantly admitting to using cheats on a multiplayer game, anyone who helps you AND yourself, deserve flogging.
  23. Yeah, big nasty MTA crept into the DVD and corrupted the files. Probably a read error from the DVD, ever tried to listen to music on a scratched CD? Get a new (mind you, no illegal downloads or anything like that ) copy and it'll probably work.
