GTA3/VC/SA automatically execute asi (and a few other file types) on runtime, which is how CLEO hooks into GTA. CLEO, as said above, uses SCM + new opcodes as its scripting language and uses a special kind of compiled SCM file (filename.cs) in the \CLEO\ folder in the GTA directory. Of course, MTA:SA won't support CLEO or other asi files for reasons stated by eAi.

Game-Monitor is currently experiencing issues, apparently. Please wait a while for them to fix their services.
-
Game-Monitor has been up and down all day and part of yesterday, so if you get a "Failed to parse List" error when trying to use the server browser, don't be discouraged, just try again later. Awful timing showcasing Game-Monitor's unreliability.
-
Ignore it, it's a feature that doesn't work currently. It was previously for the old community center to track statistics.
-
I thought the same, but one of the comments says it also includes CLEO. If it were a CLEO mod you could decompile it with Sanny Builder and find out what memory addresses it uses.

Vice Changelog: Fixed death upon exiting a helicopter as a passenger. Implemented a check for players being dead inside vehicles. GTA continues to execute in the pause menu, no more lame pausers during deathmatch! Replay is disabled to prevent desync. Inter-island loading time shortened. Game now loads automatically after pressing "Start Game" in MTAClient. Widescreen aiming fixed. screenshot 1 | screenshot 2 Draw distance doubled from default. screenshot Frame limiter forced on to avoid certain unwanted behaviors and prevent side effects of some new memory patches. All Pay’n’Sprays functioning. Color changing is disabled since it’s not synced. Do note that other players and passengers may not see the car “repaired” after spraying (even though you do), but it will have full health. Any vehicle, including emergency vehicles, is sprayable. All interiors implemented: Print Works, Rifle Range, Lawyer's Office, Apartment 3C, VROCK Recording Studio, Love Fist "Temple of Rock", Biker Bar, Auntie Poulet's house, and Café Robina. Lifts implemented: Hyman Condos, Gonzalez' house (directly behind the Malibu; Gonzalez was the guy you had to kill in the single-player mission "Treacherous Swine"), the VCN building, and the Bank Vault lift. Added all of the missing objects from Cortez's boat: furniture on the deck, door textures, the getaway boat, and the gangplank. No more drowning! Players no longer receive a golf club when entering a Caddy. Players no longer receive 5 shotgun shells when entering a Police car. Players no longer receive 20 health when entering an Ambulance. Players no longer receive armor when entering an Enforcer. Pausing on alt-tab is now disabled. GTA3:MTA’s altimeter implemented. screenshot Opened the Vercetti Mansion doors. Fixed many door and lift Z-angles to stop infinite loops if you hold down the "forward" key. All garages opened. They just open and close, no function at all otherwise. Help text for commands added to the Spectator screen. screenshot Weapon pickup message box moved out of the way of the chatbox for readability. screenshot MTA 0.4 help marker removed. Enabled second newspaper type. screenshot Player no longer receives $12 upon entering a Taxi/Cabbie. Radar is no longer visible in the “wasted” screen (the player’s blip would change direction 180º every few seconds; it looked annoying). Hospital treatment is now free (i.e., no more -$100 upon death). Wanted stars moved off-screen. screenshot Time advance disabled after you die to prevent a minor visual bug. Fixed an exploit where you could control Tommy from the spawn roof with the spawn menu still active. Optimized a massive amount of code and removed unused/debug code. VC DM Changelog: Vice City Crusader having 200 armor after respawning. The skin is now usable. Stubby and nade/molotov jumping re-enabled. Disabled drive-by in vehicles since it’s unsynced. The Machete is not synced. Changed VCC's melee weapon to the Hammer. Yellow Rancher at North Point Mall now respawns properly. Silenced Ingram (Tec10) at Leaf Links fixed (it gave you negative ammo, thus rendering the weapon unusable in most cases). Stunting and unique jumps implemented. Works just as in the Stunt gamemode, except your money (score) does not show up in the scoreboard, and money has no purpose at this time. Yellow Cheetah moved into "Sir, Yes Sir!" garage (in other words, into the garage it was in front of in stock 0.5). Moved Maverick and PCJ600 (yellow) spawns. The Maverick spawns on the Helipad of the building near its former spawn, and the PCJ nearby the small pier next to the bridge. Looks more realistic. The said PCJ600 also had random colors sometimes, and colors are not synced, so this bike has been given a permanent color of its typical yellow (thanks lil_Toady for pointing that out!). Ambulance replaced the red BF Injection downtown. It can be found at Vice Point Hospital. Fire Truck moved to the Fire Department downtown. Again, looks more realistic. Removed the Cleaver from the tool shops as it isn’t synced, and added the Hammer at the North Point Mall and Downtown tool shops. Golf Club spawns near the Caddy at Leaf Links. Secret Service striped suit skin spawn moved to the bottom of the stairs. “Known Rivals” text in spawn menu removed. screenshot Tweaked some spawn points’ z-angles. Corrected some pickups that had incorrect Z coordinates. VC Stunt Changelog: Fixed an exploit where a player would spawn in a vehicle if they pressed action/enter key during environment loading. Removed an unsynced Bloodring Banger from the Bloodring. Unique jumps implemented. If you have the time and are bored enough to do all 36 unique jumps in one game session (and your game doesn’t crash!), then you get the money/score bonus as you would in single player. GTA3:MTA Changes: Turismo/Shoreside Scramble race gamemodes fixed. GTA continues to execute in the pause menu, no more lame pausers during deathmatch! Implemented a check for players being dead inside vehicles. All islands now check if you left your current island and deal with you properly. Replay disabled to prevent desync. Players no longer earn money upon hitting other vehicles or entering a taxi. Trains disabled to prevent crashes. Drive-by disabled since it's unsynced, no point in wasting ammo. Pay'n'Spray blips added to car scanner, and removed all non-Pay'n'Spray garages. Vehicle 49 (the teal Esperanto on Portland, some Kuruma on Staunton [sorry for not being specific], and the Taxi near the Police Station on SSV) is not synced on any island. It has been moved to an inaccessible location. Made carscanner faster. If a player killed themselves while in the Ammunation screen, the player is teleported out of the Ammunation screen and the menu is deactivated so the player can be respawned properly. Previously, if a player did this and tried to buy a Race or some weapon, the game would crash. Fixed minor text fade-in issue in the Ammunation menu. Wanted stars moved off-screen. screenshot Weapon pickup message box moved out of the way of the chatbox for readability. Fixed many vehicle placements so vehicles aren't parked on the wrong side of the road. Time advance disabled after you die to prevent a minor visual bug. Massive code optimizations. Portland: Closed off various mission-related doors (for example, Luigi's club's back door). Shoreside Vale: "Color bug" that has been plaguing this island for several versions is now massively reduced. This is also dependent on a server setting (server operators please read mtaserver.conf at RandomWeather). Player can no longer "superjump" if the player is not controllable (i.e. player is drowning, knocked down, or jumped already). Blips added for your current gang's Ammunation as well as the universal Ammunation near the Pay'n'Spray, and added the gamemode selection location on the radar as a green telephone. All these blips appear only when using the car scanner (right mouse button or Del by default). Fixed glitch where if you are in the gamemode selection screen and another player begins a gamemode, you are trapped in the gamemode selection screen and must restart GTA3:MTA. Fixed glitch where players could spawn without a weapon of their choosing if they tried to spawn too quickly. Your $50 is refunded if you back out of the gamemode selection screen after buying a Taxi from Ammunation. Fixed many crashes and bugs in Van Heist and Ransack gamemodes. Closed off front airport building doors and added Hoods safehouse door as it appears in SP (open at an angle). Staunton: Pay'n'Spray enabled. Closed safehouse doors. american.gxt (text table used by MTA & GTA): Fixed a lot of wording to improve clarity and fix several typos. Added text that strongly suggests to not use the "start game" option after already beginning a game (i.e. restart game) as this usually crashes the game, and instead suggests to quit and start the game again if you really need to restart. Added text that dissuades people trying to load a save game in MTA. Other minor tweaks. You may read development history for MTA:VC and GTA3:MTA if you wish. To celebrate MTA 0.5's 6th birthday, MTA 0.5r2 for GTA3 and VC is available to play! This release includes: A new external server browser application to replace the nonfunctional server browser in the client For MTA:VC DM: Fixed weapon crosshair for widescreen resolutions Stubby jumping and grenade/Molotov sprinting & jumping re-enabled Pay'n'Sprays which repair your vehicle Interiors, stunting, and unique jumps For GTA3:MTA: Shoreside Vale's "color bug" significantly reduced or eliminated Turismo/Shoreside Scramble race gamemode now functional for all islands And many other fixes and tweaks; read the full changelogs in the next post for more detail. Please note that this release is an unofficial update which will have limited support by myself only, and is not endorsed by the MTA team. Aside from the server browser, all changes are rather minor and gameplay related. Do not expect improvements of synchronization as I do not have access to the source code. These changes were all I could do with SCM and memory hacks. I hope you enjoy playing MTA 0.5r2. Download: Full installer (includes client and server) Windows server installer Windows server .zip archive Linux server .tar.gz archive Feel free to join #mta3vc on irc.gtanet.com to gather with other players and for support if you need some help! You can click here to join immediately using the Mibbit Java IRC client. Please read this thread to read about the future of MTA 0.x.

Client issues: Australian and German EXEs (and possibly others) may produce an "invalid executable" error when you try to start a game. As Australian and German EXEs don't work reliably with MTA, this shouldn't be a huge problem. Try to obtain a standard EXE. You can try Talidan's invalid executable patcher. Crash when MTA:VC DM is loading. Make sure you run GTA3 or Vice City at least once in single player without MTA before actually running it with MTA. If that doesn't work, try the Vice 1.1 patch. If that still doesn't work, post in the support forum. Freeze when the client tries to display dialog asking for game path. There have been a couple of occurrence of this, and we'd be interested to see why this is. You can avoid it by manually setting the path in the mta.ini in the Multi Theft Auto directory. For Vice City, your mta.ini should contain (replace the path if necessary): [Game-VC] Version=0 Location=C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\gta-vc.exe For GTA3:MTA, your mta.ini should contain (replace the path if necessary): [Game-GTA3] Version=1 Location=C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTAIII\gta3.exe XFire crashes game during loading. Both XFire and MTA use similar methods for integrating themselves into the game. We've contacted XFire to offer our support for them in implementing support for MTA, but they haven't responded. If you wish to use XFire in MTA, contact XFire. In the meantime, disable XFire before you play. MTA claims "Suspected Trainer Usage." Try closing every other open window first, then if that doesn't work restart MTA. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling MTA 0.5r2. You join a server and are told you are banned, even though you aren't in the ban list. The cause of this is unknown. You may be banned by a over-general ban in the server's ban list. Client crashes when you join a server. This crash may be caused by the client trying to download the rich text MOTD specified by the server and failing (e.g. the site its trying to get it from is down, or the URL is invalid). If this happens, the client will crash. You have quite a few files on your computer called mtachat.txt. mtachat.txt, as you probably guessed, stores a chat log. This feature was added at the last moment and not properly tested. Consequently, this problem has occurred. This is probably due to how the client has been launched (the start path determines where it saves the chat, not the install path). Feel free to delete any files you don't want. Upon clicking "Start Game" the client informs you your client is modified. Click Start Game again. When playing GTA3 you receive an "Invalid Executable" error. This is probably because you are using GTA3 version 1.0 instead of 1.1. You can get the GTA3 1.1 patch here. If this doesn't work, or you already have GTA3 1.1, make sure you have the USA/UK EXE; you can try Talidan's invalid executable patcher. Failing that, try to obtain one elsewhere. Your virus scanner informs you that the Multi Theft Auto 0.5r2 executable is a virus or malware. MTA does not contain any viruses, malware, adware or spyware. It is flagged as a false positive because of the way the executable is packed. Ensure you only download the client from our site. This link is hosted by our webhost. Use this if you doubt the validity of your copy of MTA. You get a crash at the address 652F30 when starting the game. Ensure your game language is set to English. Gameplay issues: MTA:VC (either map) crashes when you try to get on a motorcycle as passenger when it has no driver, as well as a couple other crashes in certain circumstances with motorcycles Sorry, I was unable to fix this for 0.5r2. This may be fixed in a future release. MTA:VC DM: You are unable to jump or sprint when a Molotov is your active weapon, but you are able to jump and sprint with Grenades This will be fixed in a future release if there is one. MTA:VC (either map): after exiting spectator mode, you may see a brief glimpse of Tommy falling and potentially receiving fall damage; once you spawn with a skin, you have less than 100 health This will be fixed in a future release if there is one. GTA3:MTA, Turismo/Shoreside Scramble gamemode: During a race, if another racer dies, every living racer crashes. I was also unable to fix this issue for 0.5r2. This may be fixed in a future release. GTA3:SSV, Van Heist gamemode: The home base marker flickers, and if the Securicar explodes, then the damage meter shows negative Live with it, neither were worth my time to fix for 0.5r2. This may be fixed in a future release. Server issues: You receive the error "ERROR: The ServerName, ServerPort, GameMap, GameHour, GameMins, Weather and BannedFile MUST be specified in the configuration file" when you run your server, and all fields are filled in. Only affects Server Patch 1 Hotfix Ensure that your server name is 49 characters or less. This is a misleading error. Your client times out as soon as you connect to a server. Players all time out when they connect to your server. This has been an unknown problem for quite some time now, but it seems it is caused not by MTA or the MTAServer but by MTA:mA, or more specifically scripts running on it. If the scripts send multiple messages to the player when they join it is highly likely to time them out. This results in nobody being able to play. For now a fix is available for MTA:mA here (hopefully GRS will also be updated soon). Please follow Aeron's instructions regarding its use. A big thank-you to Mike for discovering the cause of this problem and Aeron for getting a fix out so quickly.

The gta_sa.set file contains all of the settings (video/audio/controls/language) for the game.

Try installing the latest patch of MTA:SA.

MTA every 5 seconds a little gamefreeze // GTA SA NOT!
Towncivilian replied to Daribusch's question in Client
See whether the following setting makes any difference: Settings -> Advanced tab -> Asynchronous Loading Does this issue happen on every server? Could you also provide a dxdiag report? Press the Windows key + R, type dxdiag, press Enter, click Save all information... and post the contents of the saved log here within Code tags. -
Fixed a couple crashes in the Van Heist gamemode which occurred when the player died. Also, it has a few bugs: the "damage" meter is not accurate (nothing I can do about that) and also displays negative after the car explodes. The other bug is that the "home base" marker flickers. None of those bugs are worth my effort to try to fix any longer; I've already tried for several hours. The gamemode works, and that's all that matters at this point. I might fix them for a future release if I feel like it, but chances are slim. Turismo's code gives me a headache just looking at it; even the source GSR is not helpful. I don't think I'll be able to trace the crash I mentioned earlier, unfortunately. Also, the kill credits being crappy is apparently how it was in the first place. Nothing I can do about it regardless.

If your MTA crashes on startup or during the game, then first of all you should visit the list of known crash types (link) and search for a match with the crash offset from your crash dialog (example: "Offset = 0x003F0BF7" > copy and search for 0x003F0BF7). Incase your particular crash is listed in the table, the reason for said crash and resolution info is provided on that page, right behind the crash offset. Note: most people will think "oh, nah, probably not relevant to me", but crashes with known reasons that are listed, together make up 85% of all MTA crashes globally, and most support is requested for clarified crashes. So for the sake of getting a faster fix, we recommend really taking this step. If your crash isn't listed, then download and run MTADiag and follow the instructions. If MTADiag will not run for you, download & install Visual C++ 2017 runtimes (using this link, download automatically starts) Then create a topic in this section (Client support) and post any Pastebin URL MTADiag gives you in there. If for some reason MTADiag does not function, do the following before creating a new topic: Install the latest patch of MTA:SA Install the latest DirectX runtime by keeping this option to automatically install it, enabled in the MTA installer selection. If installing those does not fix the problem, try: Delete the gta_sa.set file located in the GTA San Andreas User Files in your Documents folder/library (Windows Vista and 7 users) or My Documents directory (Windows XP users) Check in your GTA San Andreas installation directory for a D3D9.dll. If one is present, delete it. Ensure that your GTA San Andreas installation is not modded in any way. If it is - please uninstall, then reinstall GTA San Andreas first before installing MTA: San Andreas. While MTA can cope well with most mods, this will exclude the chance some funky mod is causing problems without a long troubleshooting process to determine which specific mod the culprit is. Please note that the more (type of) SA mods you have, the higher the risk for stability issues; MTA has a high tolerance for things it's not designed to be compatible with, but it has its limits. We cannot guarantee support if you're using a modded installation while running into problems. Also include any error messages that may appear when your MTA:SA crashes; either copy and paste of the crash log or a screenshot is fine. Thank you! Note: If you want to read more about MTADiag or report issues while using this tool, go here: https://forum.multitheftauto.com/topic/32071-mtadiag-diagnostic-tool-for-mtasa/

Oh, duh, forgot to mention. Try deleting gta_sa.set in the GTA San Andreas User Files folder of your Documents library.

Okay. Could you also provide a dxdiag report? Press the Windows key + R, type dxdiag, press Enter, click Save all information... and post the contents of the saved log here within Code tags.

You can try an unstable build of 1.1 here if that's what you mean. I would also suggest you try starting clean by uninstalling MTASA and GTASA, removing the entire D:\Games\GTA SanAndreas directory and installing to default directories instead.
-
I don't know whether it's specifically an issue with the new driver because I very rarely play MTA:SA, but you can try reverting to the previous WHQL 260.99 driver to see if it fixes the issue. If it does, then you're obviously nailed the new driver as the cause.

Testing went well, only around 5 players showed up but we still found some bugs and had a fun time. Bugs: Race gamemodes: if a racer's vehicle explodes, every other racer crashes Van Heist: Players can deliver the Securicar to other gangs, failing the mission in the process GTA3 SSV: Kill credits are significantly desynced vs. stock 0.5 Also, all static blips on the map have been moved to the car scanner for easier reading of the radar.

Fixed: Race gamemode on every island A crash in the Ransack gamemode, as well as a couple visual glitches Fixed several issues in the Van Heist gamemode, namely the gang markers flickering when you're on foot or in a car other than the Securicar There are probably some more minor issues I could fix, but I believe by fixing the above that takes care of most of the bugs and oddities in GTA3:MTA gameplay.
