  1. If you would like to see the work I have done towards a new GUI look, please send a message (MSN, ICQ, PM) and let me know. I will send it out for you to look at. Currently, I believe it takes the .NET Framework to run, but I dont have a computer without this to test on. I will post a somewhat basic (vanilla) screenshot for you. I made it a more compact design, assuming that everything will eventually be integrated into a single, smaller program with all functionality built in. http://jeebus.no-ip.com/
  2. Ok first of all, let me go on a rant. -Learn networking..please. -Buy a switch. Ok, with that done, make sure that one computer is running DHCP, and that all other computers connected to the hub are configured to automatically acquire an address through DHCP. Make sure you end up on the same network, ie the first 3 numbers of the IP address are the same, 192.168.0.* or however it is setup. Only the server should connect to himself (127.0.0.1), or if possible host on a completely separate machine. Make sure TCP/IP is enabled as well.
  3. I will immediately get to work designing a new layout. *Fires up Visual Studio*

    Bug

LAN Play: Excellent, much improved! I love it! Few bugs.. Internet: Yet to find a working server. All kind of funky problems/errors
  5. I hosted a LAN game with 2 players. Seemed to work fine with 1 on each side. However, if in a car, and other player is on foot, it doesn't sync correctly. Otherwise, pretty smooth. I have yet to get an online (over internet) game working properly though.
  6. I have managed to connect to the server, send the game request, and get to choose the player, but when I spawn all the blips on radar show in the same spot, and no one shows up driving any cars. Whats the deal?
  7. In my frantic scramble to rush to a server, I get the same problem. I have used ASE to launch mta.exe. It launches and connects, and when I load gta3.exe and do start Multitheft Auto, all I see is a intro movie.
  8. I have quad DS3 and a Cray in my spare computer room, if you need that.
  9. No, they aren't corporate slaves out to make a quick buck. The dedicated server will be hosted by the community. Besides, I think it is illegal for them to profit from their modification of the GTA3 game, (at least with my understanding of the law)

    Hu ... ok !

Hey quick question. While getting my GTA3 fix today, I thought of something interesting. If I go to 8Ball and get a bomb put in my car, drive over to the 'spawn point', activate the bomb and hop out, will it definately blow up if someone that just spawned hops in?

Not to incourage warez, but "trying before buying" games by downloading them is very helpful. I am a proud owner of GTA3 (PC), GTA VC (PS2), and GTA VC (PC). I did download both PC versions before I bought them, just to make sure my money would be well spent. I dont see any harm in that (as long as you only try the game so long, or choose to buy it)
  12. So what you are saying is, you are this poor kid here? http://www.teamabuse.com/toxic/stuff/swk.htm

I disagree. Gun-running In Beta 3 was so much more fun.
  14. Some threads have numerous pages, some of which do not show. To correct this manually, inrement the number and the end of the corresponding thread url by 15. This will manually take it to the next page. If you get errors, you've gone too far (duh). With this nice fix, I've been on a thread's page 6 of 3, something quite impossible, but it lets you see the pages that dont get shown (because of some erroneous bug).
  15. My patience has been pressed...for months. Even a 'later tomorrow' will do...anything.
  16. I am a self taught (for the most part) programmer. I have begun taking many classes to further my abilities. I have been doing Visual Basic applications for close to 6 years now, mainly under Visual Studio 6. I have recently upgraded to Visual Studio .NET, and still under a slight learning curve of its new features. I have some experience with C++, enough to understand what is going on, but more so with Visual Basic. If you are doing code conversion, I believe I could help. I have done enough C++ (MFC) programs to know whats going on. It has been a while since I've done any network related code, but I am sure I could refresh myself.
  17. A description of my skills: 0101 0011 1001
  18. That deadline is closing fast. Any news?
  19. Screw assembly, I'll do it in binary.
  20. Will be more than happy to assist.
  21. Why not keep everything default GTA3 1.1 install and let server admins worry about further customization. (Packs, skins, models, mods, etc that they want to run)
  22. Why mess my GTA3 install all up with a bunch of custom crap? I think their should be a way to set a server as custom or not. (Pure server) The ability to auto download content should be saved for a new version.
