JacoB
I installed MTA 0.5. Did not restart. Opened up MTACLIENT. Could not connect, suspected trainer usage. Um ok.. closed all programs. Same message. Restarted computer. Tried to open mta client, got this message: Uninstalled. Restarted. Reinstalled. Restarted. Double-clicked it in ASE and it worked. I don't want to have to open this from ASE. WTF went wrong? Link to comment

JacoB
No.. I was trying to manually open MTAClient.exe via C:\Program Files\Multi Theft Auto\ I was getting that error when I tried to open it from there. But then I tried opening a server on ASE and it loaded the client with no error. Link to comment
Dgtadude
Hum.. ye i guess openning from the source file and shortcut dosent make a difference.. Still doing some research with my own to see if i can cause the problem and troubleshoot it Link to comment
Bloodymess13
I had some problems with something similar myself, turned out i had the version set wrong in the MTA client under the "options tab". Try changing the version, see if that helps Link to comment
l2ebel
you sure youre using the original client mr. "crazy modding crew"? Link to comment
MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted February 1, 2005 MTA Team Share Posted February 1, 2005 I had the same problem myself on the laptop today. Installed MTA, didn't work. rebooted and still refused. So i turned my laptop off and put it away. Now i just booted it again cause i wanted to troubleshoot the problem and it is gone ... Link to comment
Bloodymess13
crazy, i tryed restarting when i had the problem, completely reinstalled Vice (which the install to begin with was only a few hours old, with nothing added) and it still didn't work. I was about to give up when i messed with the version, and then it worked. Go figure. Link to comment

Slothman
i had the same erorr when i wasnt connected to the internet. possible cause for this is a firewall. Link to comment
eAi
Its possible this is caused by being unable to download the welcome message - if thats the case. If someone wants to try this out for us, it'd be helpful. Update: I've added this to the known issues thread with two possible fixes. I'd be interested to know if either work. Update 2: We've replicated and fixed this bug. Whenever we release an update, this will be fixed. In the meantime, follow the instructions on the "known issues" thread to disable updates or allow mtaclient.exe access to the internet through your firewall. Link to comment
MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted February 1, 2005 MTA Team Share Posted February 1, 2005 We have identified the bug. As suspected this bug haapends when the client can not find the motd on our website. To prevent this from happening open up mta.ini that is located in the same folder in a text editor and set DontGetLatest to 1 DontGetLatest=1 Link to comment
