Gamefreek
Well the reasont here is already a cheat server up is that the trainers that worked with 0.3 still work with 0.4 with out a hacked client. There were cheaters not even an hour after it was released. Link to comment
orappa
Is there nothing we can do about cheat servers? It seems to me that someone could easily join it and find out where to download cracks / hacks to use in public servers? Do we just have to put up with it? Also, I noticed that the team's been quiet about the new anti-cheat measures in 0.4. Do you think we could have a few details (nothing too detailed though, obviously)? Link to comment
Guest
Basic things were done to make it much more difficult for someone that has no idea what they are doing to crack their game. The filepaths of the CRC checked GTA files are now encrypted. The client now sends the CRC of the client with your nickname on connecting, and then continually sends the CRC of the client while you are connected. I applaud the MTA team on finally taking some basic steps to ensuring the game is somewhat more secure. Although recalculating the CRC from the executable multiple times is somewhat of a waste after it is loaded into memory. Link to comment
orappa
One question: how do you know this without breaking the EULA? Link to comment
Guest
2. You are not allowed to alter any binaries or libraries that came with the software. This includes, but is not limited to reverse engineering, decompiling, disassembling and hex editing. An exception can be made for educational purposes although this requires a new license which has to be requested to and approved by the MTA team or when such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation Link to comment
Guardians Proper
Question for Jon: What do you do about it?! Link to comment

Question for Vendetta: What should I be doing? Link to comment
