Dank
Is there anyway to have the motd display longer than what it currently does. Doesn't really give a player enough time to read it. spanks Link to comment
Dgtadude
There is not an away to make it longer right now but they should put one of those scroll things in it , If possible . OR maybe even something that you press like a letter on the keyboard and press the down or up arrow . Link to comment
Dank
Agreed, even a /motd command would be nice. Link to comment
b0b0
I would like the ability to scroll down and press the "I Agree" button Link to comment
Robpol86
i use underscores to force it to be the way i want it to be, kinda Link to comment
MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted November 30, 2003 MTA Team Share Posted November 30, 2003 an motd or message of the day isn't there to put ur server rules but to have, well a massega of the day like a quote of the day or something. Something small, not 15 pages of text Link to comment
Robpol86
hmm, then were can i put the rules? ppl will be confused when i ban them for a reason which they dont know Link to comment
Dank
Strange because MoTD.txt is usually used for rules and admin contact information. Don't remember seeing many quotes... But I am just goin by a few multiplayer games I've played... Quake2 Quake3 HalfLife UT UT2k3 GlobalOps RTCW BF1942 Link to comment
MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted December 1, 2003 MTA Team Share Posted December 1, 2003 come on, the name motd says it : message of the day Link to comment
Robpol86
hmm, then were can i put the rules? i expect an answer from sum1!!! Link to comment
SM xenex
Blokker is right the MOTD.txt is for message of the day ( obviously) but it has to be used as a place to set your rules and info etcetc since there isnt another place to put it ,there is no RULES.txt Edited December 2, 2003 by Guest Link to comment
Iggy
Yes its a very nice spot for the rules since everyone has to see it if the decide to play. Link to comment
Robpol86
no, not if they decide to play but upon entry of server. some little bastards like to spam their server in others, which i ban them if i catch them. and i cant say "read the motd" cuz they didnt join the game (even though its common sense) Link to comment
SM xenex
Ok if the MOTD.txt has to used for message of the day then why not make another file, like i said before RULES.txt or something but, i think it would be better if when entering a server as rob said, when you press connect a pop up window of some kind opens and there is your rules there, and people have to click a yes button in order to enter the server or they get disconnected.Would this be possible? Robpol86
i dont want a "disclaimer" on a gameserver..... just showing the rules and them knowing that staying in the server means they agree (common sense, thats how rules usually work) Link to comment
Dank
5 more seconds of display time would be enough, IMO. Disclaimer, lol. Click Agree or disagree. Link to comment
Robpol86
no, ill be damned if players in my server have to always hit "i agree". that would get hella annoing. wat other game does this? NONE (right?) Link to comment
SM xenex
Ok ok you are right but only reason i said that is that way you know atleast a bunch more people have read your rules.Well even that doesnt quarentee that they will folow.but oh well i think now you get my point. Link to comment
