lil Toady
im sure the MTA Team will not host any banners on their site and they won't do anything that will bring money with mta Link to comment
erorr404
You're suggesting replacing the banner that says the name of the site with an ad? Link to comment
erorr404
Anyway, this issue has been addressed before: It is a number of issues:1) We don't want people donating and think we have some obligation to help. This WILL happen, and we don't have the time to put up with it. 2) We don't want arguments within the team. 3) Currently, if we need a piece of software, there are two sources: Get it from a sponsored source (MS Visual C++ 2005 is free for a year, by the way) like a school (I get my copy from my university for free), or get it from the retailer. If it's the second option, we all pitch in to donate money to one of the team members who makes the purchase. 4) We aren't exactly sure of any legal consequences that may exist regarding receiving capital as "donation money" when we are a group which creates software based on reverse engineering another piece of software, which is explicitly forbidden in Rockstar's EULA. 5) We don't like wasting time thinking about these consequences (much like what this whole response is doing) when we could be focusing on getting something out the door. -Derek Link to comment

Fact is, they have already looked at it and decided no u could use a faster mtavc host for the forums These forums are fast enough.. Link to comment

MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted August 18, 2006 MTA Team Share Posted August 18, 2006 Yes, the server does slow down from time to time and no we do not know why. As far as we known it should not happen. We have a sponsored server and a nice, clean, adfree site. Not many people can say that. Until recently I daily visited a belgian website about gaming. Everything they have (high speed server, a lot of bandwith, ...) is sponsored by my ISP (so I am paying for it) yet the admins of the site decided that besides the big ad banners on top and on the side they now should place a big google ad in the center of the content area. We have been fortunate by the fact that our server is sponsored by game-monitor and that all ASE has requested in return is a button on our site. I do not see why we should pollute our site with ads when we have what we need. And in the end more and more people are having an adblock system anyway. And be honost, who here clicks those freaking ads? Link to comment

MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted August 18, 2006 MTA Team Share Posted August 18, 2006 what are u saying. firefox is a great program, im not surprised but its not preconfigured to refuse adds.do u want me to stop... When you look at the fact that in general about 10% of surfers uses Fx and for us it is about 50% that tells me that a lot of people that visit our site have some knowledge about how to browse the web in a decent way and are probably as annoyed as i am with all those ad infested sites these days. So saying that most of our visitors are not smart and just kids is wrong and insulting for most. Link to comment
