mintsz Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 a good idea would be to release the dm map maker 1 week prior to the release of deathmatch, making everyone counting the days and have tons of maps available. please include maps with the game as well as we will be playing many fun maps but never play them again, unless they're official
lil Toady Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 What if they will think they're done, will release you the map editor and will be counting on releasing the DM in a week after map editor, and then bah! will find few more bugs in DM...
darkdreamingdan Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 That's an interesting idea. I think it has many advantages because the community can prepare lots of maps before release. I certainly think this would be a good idea.
erorr404 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I don't really see a point. There will surely be official maps with the release as there were in race.
Mnightmare Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I don't really see a point. People can prepare their own maps and play them on the release date.. that's the point dude...
Mr.hankeyeye Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 lol you can make deathmatch maps alreaddy atleast i started building them cuz when dm version is out just open them add spawn points and tada a deatmatch map is ready for action. but it has a down side you can't walk around unless you do some tricks wich will take you half an hour but still it's a nice idea
mintsz Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 my friend asked one of the developers and they said you probably won't be able to convert race to deathmatch. sorry bud if your talking about walking around in race... sync is horrible.
erorr404 Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Actually, foot sync in race is non-existant. You will be able to convert things like objects from race to DM.
erorr404 Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 I'm not sure what you mean by "whole maps." If you're asking whether you can convert maps and play them exactly as you would in the race mod, the answer is no. There are no racing features built in to the deathmatch mod.
Ransom Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 We have some tools to convert since it didnt begin with an editor all ready to go. Not a complete conversion however, some work is required (eg extra parameters in dm, some not used in race). I dont know how it will turn out come release time, perhaps there will be a total-conversion tool (probably by the infamous Aeron).
Mr.hankeyeye Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 so remove all race data no cp's/spawnpoints pickups only object data and else you can copy the map data from a race and put it in a dm map that should work too
erorr404 Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 No, the format is different so you will need a converter in any case.
Sodisna Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Wouldn't go to well with the "fans" anyways. They are already complain that you guys are taking forever with MTA: DM. Frankly, I don't care, I just want it before Thanksgiving=P.
mintsz Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 how wouldnt it go well with the fans?

Mnightmare Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 but u know what they say; great things come to those who wait Alternativly you wouldnt be in that category by the looks of things. lol.. what makes YOU think that I'm not in that category?.. was it "I bet it won't happen" comment?.. how could you figure that out only from that comment?.. well anyway, you're wrong.. I AM amongst those who are willing to wait for an awsome mod....soo...u just got pwnd! and I'm bettin even that won't happen What makes you think that when you have no idea what happens behind the scenes of development. just a feeling I have.. and that feeling rarely strikes wrong..

Mnightmare Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 hehe.. but yeah, honestly, I wish it'll be out soon.. but I am not expecting anything, that way I can't be dissapointed ... that's the point I was trying to make..

I only replied because of something said similar not so long ago, which was less inconveinient then what they were orginally trying to annouce. Though no worries mate, forget about it, we all hope its not so long off before everyone is playing actively again with this new modification which is waiting for us. Im alongside you on that one, just as everyone else.
