this might've been mentioned before.....but will you be able to "get into" ( not jacking the car) and sit inside your friend's( allie whatever)car as a passenger in V.03?

this sounds cool - especially for when you are implementing a TDM - it opens up a whole lot of possibilites for strategies, attacking and defending etc.

especially if you could shoot outta the windows :D

You're not kidding, imagine if you could have a guy in the back seat who had a full 360 degree range of shooting freedom (its a mite bit unrealistic because of interior seats and the other driver, but I think it'd be maximum fun-age).

I think that that would require hard coding a bit of the game, since its not just introducing other players into the car environment, but also screwing around with in car shooting mechanics.

I was just wondering, how much lag do pedestrians take up (you know, tracking them and all that) and could the game function with higher poly-count models? I'm not an expert with modding...hell not even a beginner, at it always seems that a mod's model and texture quality is always comparable to the original's realease. For instance, counterstrike's textures and models are all a jump down from battlefield 1942's, but its been around long enough and with enough interest that they could have been updated.

some things on the subject:

-right now, the other players car is empty, so if you jack it, i suppose you would be riding with him!

-possible way of riding in car. (beta idea) jack car as you normally would. when you get in the car.. if its already taken, then MTA disables the players controls cept for enter. this way the car drives by the original jacker, and since you cannot drive (controls are disabled) you cannot affect it, just go along with a ride. the camera and all follows the car as if you were driving it. also the drive by controls should remain enabled.

-as far as 360 shooting: heres an easy idea (it sounds easy):

instead of getting in the car, have a "ride" button, like [\|] key (above enter) when this is pressed, it syncs your corrdinates with the cars.. but you dont enter it. then it tells clients not to render you, but your still there. finally is lowers you a bit, so your in the car. this has to work, think about it. as long as your synced with the car, you coord's are where ever the car is.. since your not in it.. it acts as if your on the street. you can walk, becuz your x-y-z is taken over, but you can still rotate and shoot. this has only a few problems. if two people get in the car, then they will be shooting from the same place. and your view wil be out side the car.. unless you make it first person, which is two hard.. so leave it as is and BAM multiple people in a car, with shooting abilities

i hope that makes sense to everyone. if it doesnt ill explain clearer.

also, that leave the enter key as the jack key.. now you can choose to jack, or ride. i think that would be a cool mod anyway. imagine riding with ai, shooting at cops, using the ai as your getaway driver!

AI driving? - no thanks. id rather have the cops driving me than some usless AI =)

If the idea can be adapted for humans to drive, that would be great, even better if we can pull drivebys as well.

For now i guess standing on top and firing will work =)

I think the player's cars aren't empty anymore in 0.3 - just because of the fact we're using actors now. I don't know anything about sitting in the car with each other, as soon we can we would test it of course :D
