  1. Thanks for all nice response . That really cheers me up for today .
  2. It's been very quiet here since the VC-MP beta test, and I can sort of understand that. MTA is no longer the only multiplayer mod for GTA, and I have to admit that even though VC-MP is buggy, it does have some neat additions the current MTA 0.5 doesn't have (and the non-Blue MTA probably never will have). About all flaming that has been going on lately since VC-MP, I'm very sorry a large part of the community has chosen to behave like this (believe me, you don't want to see the deleted posts), and I can't see any reason for that. VC-MP beats the current MTA, so what? We got a new Blue platform opening new doors around the corner which we are working hard on to complete, and it's kinda heartbreaking when people are so very disrespectful about something they haven't got a faintest idea about. I know you've been waited 1 1/2 year for Blue, but Blue hasn't been simple walk from start to finish. Blue has been reworked two times before, and now we're actually working on what's internally called Blue v3 (3rd rewrite). Believe me, we are very happy with the current write, and we will stick with it. We've stated earlier (I think) that we'll release a Blue without an SDK with a racemode included first. Reason I explain the above this is that I can understand lots of you have the thoughts "they've worked 1 1/2 year, and now they just make a racemode?". No no no, we have lots of stuff "more than racing" ready, and we already have a great platform with lots of things we could've developed onto (even though lots relevant features are missing for a full release). But.. instead of completing Blue 100%, which is quite a while from now, including deathmatch and tons of mods, we want to do the racemode for demonstration purposes to show the community what we currently have. We don't really announce release dates until we're really close and almost ready because we don't want to announce delays if something really unexpected should happen a few days before. But, I can say that the core's bodywork needed for the racemode and the racemode using it is comming along very nicely and is not so neccessarily far into the future as you may think. We still have some stuff to do though, but the team and I is working very hard on this every day (up to 8 hours a day). Basically, the point of this thread was to give some of you something to think of before you insult us with your crap. Remember we're doing this in our own spare time, we do not get paid and disrespect will not make us work any faster (actually vice-versa). Please stop with this "SA-MP vs MTA: Blue" crap as none of you know any details about any of them. That's what I wanted to say, have a nice day!
  3. You're making your judgement based on your experiences with 0.x. Blue is *nothing* like 0.x. Blue isn't just a multiplayer mod, but an entire SDK for GTA. You have to see it to understand it's power it actually has proven to me numerous amounts of times while working on it.
  4. We don't like 0.5 either, and it's shit working with as it's old and origins from very "unexperienced" days. Basically, that's why we make Blue.

    Lag

Mum's computer has 256MB RAM, an ATI Radeon 9200 card and 1.1 GHz CPU. It can't play GTA3 or GTA: SA any good, but GTA: VC runs smooth as silk at 800x600x16 with full draw distanse. Actually it surprised me that that videocard in my computer (before I got a new card) could almost run VC on full graphics and full resolution. I think your problem is somewhere else unless you have a worse videocard than mum, so please be more specific. Internet lag or graphics lag? Only in MTA or singleplayer? Video card? It's pretty obvious that that should be mentioned..
  6. Great ideas, but I have to agree to JonChappell. I think they are a little bit too complicated. In my opinion, a gamemodes should have easy rules (Unreal Tournament 2004 is a great example). Maybe you get someone to make them if you're lucky
  7. I know this thread is a little bit old, but I just saw this video. Awesome man, you did a great job! Great footage

    movies

Start by reducing the resolution from whatever you use to 640x480x16, turn off antialiasing, make sure the framelimiter is on on SA (to get a smooth cap) and make sure FRAPS writes "Half-Size" videos, and choose a reasonable FPS to capture in FRAPS (25 with the framelimiter on.. no need to go higher as the game only runs at 25 FPS then). If that doesn't help (it should), defrag your harddrive.. often SA's dynamic loading (that uses the harddrive all time) combined with FRAPS intensive writing can cause lag. FRAPS is the fastest capper you can get.. if it's not fast enough, your computer is slow or your graphics are too high.
  9. Hahaha , didn't notice that myself! You're very observant
  10. Sounds cool, but unless we make the server need GTA files, we can't, due to the game being client-side add bots for the moment because the server doesn't know the map, unless the mod does the Jedi Knight approach where each player can add a finite number of bots to the server which the client game controls.

    A few ideas

CTF is easy to make with Blue

    Monopoly

Hahaha, yep, I thought of that too. Wonder how ie. Galaxies manages that... there are often tousands of players in one server.. if everyone meets at one place no video card could really maintain the FPS at a reasonable rate.

    car models

It would only screw up for you and everyone else on the server. Especially because the sizes of the cars are different (so you can imagine what happens during collisions with other vehicles when the other games thinks your vehicle is smaller / bigger than it actually is). It will fuck up for other players, so don't do it! You can create this as a Blue-mod when blue comes (yeah, I know what your face expression is each time you read that, but progress is being made even though there's lot left).
  14. Haha, I usually leave MSVC++ .NET, mIRC, 3DS Max and all other applications up (except internet apps) I eventually have up when I go play MTA Got 2GB RAM, so it doesn't really matter

    Monopoly

I guess some of you have played Star Wars Galaxies or World of Warcraft. I think SA is a big enough world to actually be able to make something similar with the Blue SDK with tons of online missions (coop and not), tons of different roles etc... Since the mods are DLL's and can basically do whatever any windows program can do, it will be easy to make the mod extendable (thus creating a new API for the mission developers) with new missions available to the players of a server each week if someone's up for some real mission-making, and even new islands outside (with missions) SA if someone dares. A Blue mod can basically control the networking down to the smallest details, so lots of optimalizations + making the player not know where the other players are until you are in a specific radius from him can actually make it support a huge number of players. Well, I don't know why I'm saying all this, it's just a great thought I had, which actually will be possible to make
  16. Ehrm, what exactly are you asking? Well, MTA, like any multiplayer game, doesn't care how big the world is... it's just a coordinate (a number). All loading, rendering etc.. is obviously done by the client, GTA.
  17. I like PunkRaper best, seriously . A quick search on google shows it isn't already taken.
  18. Closing my downloads usually bring me from 500 ping down to 150 - 200. Can get it down about 100 more if I close MSN aswell (assuming the distanse between you and the server is small): 1. Shut down all internet activity, and make sure no-one else on the same connection consumes bandwidth 2. Make sure the distanse between you and the server is short 3. Toss your 56k ... jack some car ... export it at Easter Bay ... and get broadband I'm norwegian, and I play at norwegian / swedish servers only..
  19. I'm just try to answer, "how it is better looking in MTA:SA" 1) Higher. From start game it must be on highest level, because people (i don't know word ) umm... know that he has a CJ with a max parametres. 2)No! What?! Ambush in cafe?! It sucks. 3) ... PS: sorry for my bad english... I think he asked for facts, not wishes! The two first questions will all be up to the server admins. For the last question ... well, a chatbox is a small neat chatbox... like in any other MP game. Commands goes to the console. This may change before release though.
  20. I suggest you all install all the Windows Updates before you blame antivirus software and firewalls. I'm assuming you all know that without them, antivirus software work very innefficiently because they have to remove another virus every 5 minutes, and already installed viruses can also cause problems with firewalls. Why continiously repair problems when you can prevent them?
  21. I don't know how if this is already implemented, but if not, take this as a suggestion: A lot of bandwidth can be saved from the server (and clients) by letting the server limit the synchronization (like not sending so many position update packets as usual, and avoid syncing the less important animations like crouching in blue) between players longer than X distance from eachother. Two players on each side of the map does not need a perfect sync, just a position approximation and obviously packets for updating environmental changes. This would allow for more players, and a more smooth gameplay if not already implemented, and thus more players (even though it will have no effect if all of them are located in the same place). Ofcourse the last statement assumes VC can handle more models.
  22. There is no need to speculate on this. The MTA team will do what's best for stability and userfriendlyness.
  23. Agree , but paying a few people to join you to help you kill someone would not. Anyway, this is a good idea for a mod, if anyone wants to make it.
