I believe the reason is that some people might be donating and therefore expecting to get more accepted and get more advantages in MTA, like being admin or moderator somewhere (server/forum). So I'm pretty sure that within a certain amount of time, lots of n00bs will be donating and then saying that they now have more rights/privileges and they will say things like 'I'm going to court to sue you guys for not giving me what I payed for.' Just assuming

Yeah, I also thought of it, but because I also do some memory-hacking in my sparetime I found that the adress (if it exists) to make an actor do a drive-by is very hard to find. I hope they already have it and that it will be implemented in the next core.

if you read the entire topic, u would know that this bot has spread incredibily fast, and that within one or two days hundred people had it, and I might not be talking about the official servers, but I was just sort of building on Oli's first post.

Yup, I remember the team saying that they might implement the ability to play mods with mta in the next core, but as this is still unconfirmed, we will have to keep our fingers crossed

it might be better some day, if all the features that were promised actually were implemented. Let's face it, if 96 players were actually playing, gtaT would definatly be as good as MTA (if gtaT's crashes were fixed, or at least reduced to the number MTA has). But for now it really stinks, sorry to say. And if draco wants to beat mta, he will have to be very quick, and release the 'good' version before mta completes the new core, any other MP-mod is rendered garbage compared to the things seen in the new core teaser.

why would you install the pack at all? I only use sp1 because vice mentioned it in it's specs, so I don't see why u should use it.

since this bot has started taking over servers and annoying everyone on MTA, I did a lot of research on cheat/mod-sites, and the creator of the bot stated that he also has a mIRC-script that can stop the bot, because he says there is a built-in recognition thingy in the bot that can always recognise the program. I hope he releases the script or that at least someone finds what he is talking about. It might be somewhere in the code, or just a way on how it handles certain commands, I don't know. He also said there will be no next version and no fix for the mIRC-detection. I hope this is all true and that a solution can be found quickly, in mean time I will be doing anything to get my hands on that script.

IPB has this really annoying childish look I think, I really prefer PHPBB, certainly because of the stability and all.

yeah, it stopped it for me too, but I prefer 'sweet dreams' at day better then at night anyhow, I almost never dream anymore, at least I can't remember them...

yes, that would be nice in the future, but right now we are trying to stop the use of bots for various reasons, but the most important one is: ANY MODDING OF THE CLIENT/SERVER IS FORBIDDEN. So if the MTA-team implements bots in future releases (not asking for info, just assuming) then these bots are completely legal and probably disabled in abusive situations. But that isn't happening right now is it? So please stop saying that these bots could come in use because they are a pain in the ass right now, we can start thinking about implementing these later, let's first get rid of them.

could be you are trying to connect to an offline server, but I suppose u tried multiple servers before u came here. So it might be a problem with your router/firewall, try switching off any firewall or else search these forums, I'm sure this has been posted before.

when u take a look at the forums and at the screens from the new 0.5-scm for ggm, it looks promising, it might not beat MTA but it could be competition, certainly if Kryptos implements the hdd-serial number banning option. I always followed every other MP-project for gta, and this one is the oldest and was the best at it's time. I really hope they can make 0.5 popular so there is at least an alternative for MTA (not that I have anything against mta, not at all, but in this situation it's better to have competition so u can choose, so we don't get any microsoft-like situations ) competition is always good to push limits of both teams, but MTA is doing this already in the new core
