  2. I think people just found out how to fake death messages (and no, not using /me either) They can put any item they want... IE: Death killed with a rubber mallet I THINK maybe they used the color codes at the beginning of their name, so their color is the same as death messages, then used /me, maybe? Either that, or they just found out a way to send packets to the server
  3. I noticed this in MTA .3, also. The game would ALWAYS crash unless I waited for the items above the player's heads to appear (weapons, heart, armor, whatever) It seems you still have to wait in MTA .4, too... I don't exactly know how long.. but I let it render the inside walls to the spawn point and such, before i select my character I also noticed whenever I crash, I exit VC, and the client has DISCONNECTED ME... Can someone from the MTA team acknowledge whether MTA detects the crash, and disconnects you, or if MTA disconnects you (bug?), and causes the crash?
  4. The main reason I'm disappointed is that .4 was in Dev. for 6 months... Likes: Shooting system is improved greatly More cars Secret service is cool, although it doesn't make sense, because they're practically the same as Police Dislikes: Framerate very very low, Draw distance in .3 was max, now it's set to minimum, and still framelag. Not UNPLAYABLE, but I'm suffering from HUGE disadvantages.. All cars are GREATLY slower, especially compared to other players.. Not only in the car, but running on foot. It makes me a very easy target, I just have no chance to get away. more freq. crashes than .3 MPH needs to be set to an F# key. it turns off everytime i get in a new car, so i have to constantly left click. Also weird if Driveby's ever get sync'd, then MPH will flash constantly on screen. Just leave it Always on (as long as you're in a car), and have an F# key toggle it. Weather changes too frequently... and it changes INSTANTLY. Rain is insanely loud, and even lowering the Sound FX volume, rain is still the same volume... I don't think this was a problem in single player. Fog is EVIL. It's laggy and seems to crash a lot of people.. Fog needs to be rare. It should be sunny 60-70% of the time, while playing. With night/rain/fog in close second.. Fog being rarest with new shooting system, Mexicans are really deadly.. their gun can rip through a car faster than you can get away Jagged movement while passenger is not fixed SUGGESTION: You should be able to select a class to view info about by hitting the number keys... For example: 1- Mexican 2- Police 3- Robbers For an example.. and that'll show their SPAWN point.. and you hit F to select. Right now, it's sort of slow to constantly switch through multiple spawns to find the one you want. I am on CABLE, with 300KB download and 50KB upload limit.. about 20 players on the server, and I had a reasonably low ping on the servers i played on

  7. The whole thing about the "THE GAME LETS YOU DO IT!" response, is that VC was never ment to be multiplayer. I've witnessed this, and I've ALWAYS called people cheaters when I see this in action. Now, I guess someone discovered taking off the frame limiter helps them in-game... What i'm talking about is, If I start running away from someguy, I can run forever, and they run forward AFTER i'm already away from them, and they can EASILY catch me EVERYTIME. They run 2x as fast as I do. Some other people have discovered that people can SHOOT faster than you, also. I'm now suspecting that having the frame limiter disabled can also allow people to jack your car extremely quick. If me and someone else are next to each other, and he gets in the car, and immediately hits the gas, if I hit my F key right after he gets in, I can NEVER jack his car. even if it's something slow like the WASHINGTON. But in the same situation, if I get in, and start moving, this guy can practically just hit F at any time and jack my car within 2 seconds... not cool at all. And each of us would never have a ping above 80. So, it DOES give you an advantage over another player. It simply wasn't BLOCKED by the developers because this game is purely single-player. Being able to run faster in singleplayer doesn't really give you an advantage, because the AI is stupid. So using the "It's in the game" excuse isn't valid. It's a "feature" that was over-looked by the developers, and it's being mis-used online. Thus, it's an EXPLOIT. This is the SAME principle as editing your configs. Sure, you can say "IT'S NOT CHEATING BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE CAN DO IT, TOO!".... Yeah, everyone reading this right now probably agrees that editing the configs IS cheating, too. So why isn't frame-limiting considered cheating, also? Because those people who use it, love having the advantage over the others. This is exactly like BUNNY-HOPPING in Half-Life games. BHopping is gone now, because the dev's considered it an exploit. People bitched and complained because it was a "skill".. this is even less than a "Skill", to turn your frame-limiter off. So it wouldn't surprise me if the dev's locked this variable on.
  8. That is the coolest thing, ever, in VC. Damn, maybe someone should take hte time to make Vice city COMPLETELY cel-shaded? that would look awesome... first cel-shaded driving game, i believe
  9. well, I don't think anyone can say if that is true, except for the MTA team...or whoever has beta'd... Not sure how well spectator works, i'm just throwing this idea out there
  10. I seriously suggest all ban logs be cleared when .4 hits.. Mainly because a lot of people are getting banned for cheating, and I've witnessed this (and had this happen to me, too).... a good majority of people weren't cheating, but because someone else "can't kill them!" (High ping, crappy aiming, or just now having the damage bar updating)... If you even mention someone is cheating, just, randomly, there's a high possibility of that person getting banned. Since .4 has a SPECTATOR option, it'll be easier to determine cheaters... thus,i think the banlogs should be cleared for .4, and before anyone gets banned, the admins should spectate that person
  11. - Is there any way to SYNC cars once someone jumps out of them? IE: If you jump out of a moving car, it still moves on your screen, but on everyone else's, it does something different, and the car becomes unsync'd. Also, boats floating on water would be messed up, unless this is fixed. A boat could float randomly some place, once you get out of the driver seat.... thus it would probably look like you were floating on the water, to some people...? - Disable nick colors. Make people's names the color they are on the radar. IE: all cops are blue, all sailors green, etc. - anytime the person's name is used, it should be that color. So it would say SAILOR killed COP - how about an actual "TEAM PLAY" mode? -- Deathmatch will be left how it is. But in TEAMPLAY mode, friendly fire is OFF, and cars will change colors (PAINT) depending on the class that is driving them. A sailor gets into a black (or some other random color)JEEP... the jeep turns GREEN. the sailor gets out, the jeep can either stay green or turn a default "unused" color (black, grey, whatever, or random color) doesn't matter which choice is picked...
  12. PS2 exclusive just means it "won't" appear on Xbox/GC It DOESn'T mean it won't come out on PC. Because it WILL come out for PC. Just about half a year / a year after the PS2 version comes out... this is simply because it takes time to port the game over. The previous two games came out for XBOX semi-recently because they found a loophole in the contract with Sony.. thus they managed to release the XBOX version.

  16. ... well this one guy kept killing everyone with 1 direct hit he could run with guns as fast as i ran with fists... he called me an idiot when i accused him.. ugh. so it's really not that strong, eh?
  17. yeah, the racers are never used. Crusaders are used occasionally, but not as much as the others. The thing about the mexicans that really has annoyed me are the players that have perfected their movements.. such as you get in a car, and think you're home free.. yet somehow they've mastered molotovs, and catch your car on fire, immediately.. you get out, and already, they've run up to you, and cut you with the chainsaw, killing you. And the gatling gun (what is the real name of that gun?) can effectively kill you in about 3 shots, it seems. Pretty damn strong, so it's an effective long-distance gun, while the chainsaw is the most effective melee, and the molotovs are the most deadly form of explosive (grenade can be evaded, easier... ) and they're all given to the same character. so I believe that needs fixed. All of them could use some tweaking. I think all of them should have some sort of sub-machine gun, and switching around the melee/ long-range weapons so the same class doesn't have the best of both

I think the weapons in VC should be balanced a bit more.. the Mexican is ultimately the strongest person.. the chainsaw kills in practically one hit, they also have the gatling gun type gun, which is VERY powerful, and is especially powerful against vehicles.. but they also have molotovs.. They have the best of everything, except the pistol, since it's pretty slow at firing. While, the robber, has a bat, a pistol, and a shotgun pistols are pretty weak, and, along with a bat, should be used as a last resort.. the shotgun has a slow rate of fire, and a short range where the damage can actually be felt. So ultimately, a good mexican versus a good robber, the mexican will probably win, in most cases. So I propose the weapon selections be looked upon, again, to get them a bit more even

I made a suggestion (before i saw this post) It incorporates what you're wanting http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=6111 The radar thing, though.. cops ARE always blue.. sailors always green, etc. Sometimes though, something happends and people appear the wrong color/skin. nothing you can really do
  20. I suggest that the client uses the player's class to change their name color to whatever the color on the radar is.. IE: WHERE-EVER their name appears, their name will always be colored correctly. Disable color codes in user's names so they can't screw with the colors. So.. it'll be like this Timmy killed Jimmy So we can tell that a SAILOR killed a COP. Likewise, we can tell when someone is TKing.. because it'll show like Timmy killed Jimmy Sailor killing a sailor. This would be a great thing to add, as it takes NO more bandwith, because the client already knows what class the people are.. Lastly, the scoreboard should act hte SAME way. Timmy Kills: 5 Ping: 100 Jimmy Kills: 10 Ping: 85 in-game, though, the names shouldn't be colored (Under the player, where the health-bar is) because it would make their name harder to see... but of course, you can look at their skin, anyways, so, everybody wins!

  22. for smaller servers, good idea.. but VC is hardly small playing on the 20 + player servers... it's a pretty damn good size
  23. adding a few more -- TAXIs -- Boats? -- get rid of some of the same-old same-old cars.. there's a lot more cars in VC than is shown.. things like.. there are two of the "ZIP" trucks.. one (spawns by sailor) is always used.. then there's another one somewhere else, that is never really touched.. could we replace it with a different vehicle? to give more variety.. same goes with some of the bikes, and stingers
  24. most definitely, in my opinion GTA3 lags when it starts drizzling VC can rain all it wants, and i still have a great framerate not limited to rain, though. fog is horrible on my GTA3.. lags like a mother.
