  1. I would definitely say that is a matter of preference. VC:MP is a competing mod to MTA:VC, however the stances between the two have become highly relaxed over the years, and have even shared some developers over time. Other mods have also come and gone that have shared some of the same people among them because of the love for these games. The participants of the 3D-era GTA multiplayer modding community are not at odds with each other as much as they once were many years ago. Also, I would like to point out for historical purposes that VC:MP is not made from MTA:VC's source code at all. While Kye may have been involved in VC:MP's early development after a personal dispute with the original MTA team over MTA 0.x/MTA:VC Blue, MTA:VC's source code was not used elsewhere, and was actually part of why he decided to go his own route.
  2. I would definitely make sure you have the right version of MTA:mA for 0.5/0.5r2. There are newer versions made also for earlier builds of MTA:SA, however are not compatible with 0.5/0.5r2 at all. Unfortunately I don't mIRC Scripting myself, so beyond that I'm not sure because those are all third-party tools made by community members, however there are some people on this forum that may be able to help with that.
  3. Are you getting any error messages? If you are playing on 0.5/0.5r2, this is unfortunately a common problem because the original code contained a vast amount of memory leaks and buffer overflows, which have been fixed in future development builds.
  4. This! ^ It is still planned. Unfortunately all of the current developers have become extremely lazy
  5. Just a heads up, that download link is for 0.5r2, not 0.5.1r2, which does not exist. (There was a development build not released to the public called 0.5.1, but that is separate and is now outdated too. 0.5r2 is still the latest official release version). Glad to see servers still up!!!
  6. MTA:SA is currently open-source. MTA 0.x is not yet. While I cannot speak on behalf of MTA:SA, [TTH]BiZkiT is correct about the CRC checks, (as well as other features), in the currently-released official versions of MTA 0.x. Development builds have lesser requirements due to testing purposes and building upon other newer security features, as well as removing outdated ones. That being said, I suspect this topic was meant for the MTA:SA section of the forum based on the initial question's wording.
  7. I'm not sure how I missed this, but this should have been in the main parent board for 0.x. 0.6 Nightly 1 is an experimental build that will likely have crashes or error messages arise. Also, I believe your issue is related to the executable you have being the European one. As of right now, to my knowledge only the retail US versions of the executables are supported, (however I would like to fix this in the future). For MTA:VC specifically, you'll need either a US 1.0 or US 1.1 GTA:VC executable for it to work. (Same as most previous versions of MTA 0.x). (I do see that the issue is now resolved, but the information is important for others to reference in the future).
  8. The MTA Archive website located at files.mtasa.com appears to not be set up correctly anymore, and the archive of files is inaccessible because of this. Attempting to access the website through the alternative domain names, (files.mtavc.com and files.multitheftauto.com), also leads to other error pages. (Specifically files.mtavc.com not being set up, and files.multitheftauto.com displaying a security error page).
  9. Attention users! You can now add legacy servers, (versions 0.5/0.5r2 and earlier), to the Project Redivivus Server Listing! Once manually added, they will show up in the main server listing alongside 0.6+ servers, and will grab updated data from your server every minute. (This includes if you change maps or other displayed details, and it will update it accordingly). Please note: If your server is offline for at least 10 minutes or more, it will be automatically removed from the server listing, just like 0.6+ servers. You may want to also check this list regularly, as anything requiring the webserver to be restarted will result in the legacy servers being de-listed, and needing to be added manually again. This is an unfortunate side-effect due to ASE, (All-Seeing Eye), no longer existing, and us not having access to forward data to us directly. For anyone who wishes to use the feature, please visit the 0.x Server List page at: https://servers.projectredivivus.com/ Note: This new feature is only for 0.5 and earlier. 0.6 Nightly 2 and onward already automatically adds itself to the server listing, so no action needs to be taken if you are running these versions. 0.6 Nightly 1 may also utilize the legacy system, as it was created before the code for the new server listing existed, and still relies on the old ASE method. The "Version" columns also are a little strange in appearance for many versions prior to 0.6 Nightly 2 due to a limitation with ASE's protocol preventing us from grabbing the correct version numbers or builds in some cases. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this, as we don't have a time machine to travel back to before these versions were made to correct their code internally. That all being said, if you find any bugs or discover any issues with the Server Listing, or the manual legacy server system, please advise me right away so I can look into it. Also, ignore all of the "Project Redivivus Test Server" entries on there. They are servers hosted for testing purposes, and are not currently accessible to the general public for the most part. (They may be taken offline later once users begin submitting their own servers to the listing). The versions are accurate, though, and those are real MTA 0.x legacy-versioned servers. They are not fake. As far as progress on 0.6 goes, (as well as with 0.6 Nightly 2 specifically), we are still hard at work trying to bring this to you. Currently the development is still stalled due to a lack of active developers. (Everyone is off doing real life things still). I'm doing what I can to fix little things here and there, however I am not knowledgeable in C++. If you are a trusted member of the community and are interested in helping, please let us know! While we cannot guarantee anything, we are happy to vet new potential candidates to assist us in producing the meatballs necessary to get our spaghetti code ready for release! (At this time, the code is not yet ready for the open-source switch, however this is still planned for 0.6 once the final release version is completed). If you are interested in tracking any progress, a majority of our discussions can be found on our Discord server here: https://discord.projectredivivus.com/ (Currently with everyone else busy, I tend to speak the most, so feel free to chime in! ) Thanks for taking your time to read my book of an "update", and as always, please...stop playing with yourself!
  10. Glad you think so! Which one are you referring to though?
  11. The Map Editor only currently applies to Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas. This forum section is for Grand Theft Auto III: Multi Theft Auto and Multi Theft Auto: Vice City.
  12. That is an issue regarding Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas. This forum section is for Grand Theft Auto III: Multi Theft Auto and Multi Theft Auto: Vice City. Edit: Thank you to whoever moved the topic!
  13. Hopefully this helps explain that: I would absolutely love to get things rolling again, as I do miss the days when everyone was online and having a great time in MTA 0.x. GTA III and VC are still great games for multiplayer environments too.
  14. You sure have made a lot of topics about this! I do appreciate the love for the games! I'm right there with you on it. As for the topic, your latest one has my reply about the game. I don't have much of a say as far as the MTA website though. I only manage the Project Redivivus one. Happy gaming!
