HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... man, that one even got the Apprentice laughing... and hes dumb as a post. there is a group of really smart people working at Microsoft.... The Advertising / Marketing Department. To be able to sell Such Buggy and Inferior software for so long. that is just pure skill. ----------------------- and here we are with your "Most people" Crap again. remember this, "Most people" lets see, globally, over 70% of people are UNDER the average IQ level. the other that are Higher than the Average, are the Minority, yes. but these people actually think, and learn. which is something you could do. you could crawl out of your tiny box and see the bigger picture, I'm not saying that "Linux" is the best, it all depends on the Distro. yes, there are a bunch of crap distro's, but there are also very good ones.

Lets see, iil think of one right now. WEBSERVER. i am yest to see a Windows server that is less recourse intensive than Fedora Core.

Another wrong assumption.... i love reading your posts man, they are all so misinformed... Actually, I'm not a fan boy, i work in a computer store, Building & Selling custom build computers. and here's the deal, i have used so many different operating systems, all for well over 6 months each, (except for Vista, its at the 1 month mark) and i have not found another operating system that is as stable and secure as Linux. That is all really. its just when some monkey like yourself comes along and says something so retarded like "Vista is faster than Linux" we all get a good laugh, and since I'm the only guy here with an MTA forum login, everyone here's thoughts come through my account, so far you have been talking to about 9 different people. (Yes, its a small store) Oh yes there are SOME distros of Linux that do run slower than Vista, but they are usually the really crap ones that nobody likes. and as Paul527 said before, You've never used anything other than Windows products, so you won't be able to correctly compare Windows to any other operating systems Or as James just yelled out, "Since you have said yourself that you have not used Linux before, then you have no right to say anything good, bad or otherwise about it because YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT!" or lets see, about this post here.... Lets see, firstly, "Very Boring" an Operating System isn't supposed to be flashy, its supposed to be a useful platform for running other applications from. Secondly, all "Flashy" is, it's a way to sell stuff to people who are more interested in looks than anything else. Need i go on?
-
Ah ha, another wrong assumption..... No, they don't, Most people use windows because it either came with their computer, or they just don't know that there are other alternatives... or they are just fan boys, like yourself. And seriously, if i have to explain that to you, then you are as dumb as you look, and really need to do some RESEARCH for yourself.

Hrmmm, lets deconstruct that comment..... Most People..... lets see, Most people use the internet, Most people play games, Most people use Email, Most people play Media (Audio, Videos, Images) Most people use some kind of Chat application.... ALL of those things can be done on Linux, and hell, with WINE it can now run 99% of all Windows applications. Most people need a Stable & Secure operating System, that is one thing that Linux does BETTER than Windows. "Why would you NOT switch"
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Lets see, reasons to have linux, Stability, Performance, Security... the 3 things that microsoft don't understand. ------------------------------------------- Well, if you are that stupid to even think that vista runs faster than linux, then you arent worth talking to, and you dont belong near a computer. i am now not going to reply to you again, because its not worth talking to you.

All i can say, it looks better than XP, and Vista. Follow this link to do your own research and stop being so Box-Minded... http://www.ramsinks.com/linux/ at that link there is information that EVERYONE who dosent already know should read. and another thing, the simpler the better, the less visual crap, the faster and more stable the PC will run. Just go, be a smart person and read. http://www.ramsinks.com/linux/

I was replying to SamB And anyway, that's its STOCK setting, you are almost UNLIMATED in what you can change, and how you can make it look, Don't like the plainness? then Spruce it up... This image is NOTHING compared to what you CAN do to the GUI. (also its the Gnome GUI (i think) Highly Modified) http://dzeni.linux.org.ba/screenshots/Screenshot.png (its a link to keep the thread Dial-up Friendly.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... it Mainly is console based, but you can run Various different GUI's on it... Lets see..... heres a Screenie of Mandriva Linux running the KDE Graphical User Interface ZOMG! i thinks you need to doo a little research on the subject yourself.

ok, its all working, altho theres a slight little odd thing it seems to be doing.... heres the script at the moment: on *:SIGNAL:mta.finish: { if ($mta.rank($1,$2) <5> 1) { var %score = $replacex($mta.rank($1,$2),1,5,2,4,3,3,4,2,5,1) var %position = $replace($mta.rank($1,$2),1,first,2,second,3,third,4,fourth,5,fifth) mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,$2) came %position and earned %score points! !writeini " $+ $scriptdir $+ points.ini" POINTS $mta.nick($1,$2) $iif($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,$2)),$calc($v1 + %score),%score) } elseif ($mta.server($1).players == 1) { mta.text $1 Playing alone earned you 2 points! !writeini " $+ $scriptdir $+ points.ini" POINTS $mta.nick($1,$2) $iif($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,$2)),$calc($v1 + 2),2) } } on *:SIGNAL:mta.command: { var %a = $iif($4,$iif($mta.nick($1,$4) != $null,$4,$gus.getid($1,$4)),$2) if (($3 == !points) || ($3 == !score)) { if (%a != -1) mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,%a) $+ 's Points: $calc($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,%a))) elseif ($mta.nick($1,$4)) mta.text $1 $4 $+ 's Points: $calc($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$4)) else mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,$2) $+ 's Points: $calc($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,$2))) } elseif ($3 == !resetpoints) && ($gus.level($1,$2) > = 7) { if (!$4) mta.pm $1 $2 Type !resetpoints else { mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,$2) Has Reset $4 $+ 's Points. !writeini " $+ $scriptdir $+ points.ini" POINTS $4 0 } } } and here's a screenie of the "Oddness" :::EDIT::: Hrmm, after some testing, i have found somthing odd. if i type !points it will reply with [PHS]Dan[AU]'s Points: [PHS]Dan[AU]'s Points: 13 but if i type !points Ben[uK] it replys with Ben[uK]'s Points: 4 (thats if hes in the server, if the person isnt in the server it replys like this: !points Ben[uK] [PHS]Dan[AU]'s Points: 13 So its only Doubble responding when you type just !points i have a feeling that the problem is Here.... $calc($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,%a))) elseif ($mta.nick($1,$4)) mta.text $1 $4 $+ 's Points: $calc($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$4)) else mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,$2) $+ 's Points: $calc($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,$2))) Noticing that the First line, and the Last line are EXACTLY the same Except, one ends in ($1,%a))) while the other ends in ($1,$2)))

Quick Question Toady, i noticed that your code has "If" instead of "Elseif" so does it go in the gus script? or can i add it to the bottom of the points script? If so, im guessing that i have to do this? :::EDIT::: and one more thing, im guessing that this line designates what position wins how many points... var %score = $replacex($mta.rank($1,$2),1,5,2,4,3,3,4,2,5,1) if my guess is correct, if i changed it to var %score = $replacex($mta.rank($1,$2),1,25,2,20,3,15,4,10,5,1) would that set it to be First place 25 Points, second place 20 points, third 15 points, fourth 10 points, fifth 1 point. and one more thing, if i knock a few number out of there, like so: var %score = $replacex($mta.rank($1,$2),1,5,2,4,3,3) would that result in only the first 3 places reciving points? (yes im a total noob, but i pick up on some things fairly fast)
-
well, i put it in, and its still doing the same thing.... but its clearly saving the points in the file...... [POINTS] ~PHS~Dan~AU~=8 ~PHS~Grim_Reeper=2 Alexx=5 -~SPHiNX~-Sn0b=2 whitey=4 Gooshy=2

Technically my copy of XP is legit.... well, it came with my crappy compaq laptop, that died 3 days after i got it, and after lots of stuffing around with that POS that kept breaking down, i built myself a PC, and used that disc, then installed it on Mum's PC, then now its on my new PC..... so, its a Legit copy, running on a few to many PC's.
-
Ok, i moved all the code around, put the command code in the Gus file, and it works...... kinda.... theres some little tiny problem in it tho i race, i win.. ive got 6 points now, but when i type !points or !score it just says [PHS]Dan[AU]'s Points: thats it, no number.... any ideas on why?. im guessing itl be somthing that i screwed up... any ideas?
-
Ok... it looks like i am some kind of gaigantic retarded monkey.... i gaurentee i know what ive done wrong..... well, heres the deal, typing !points or !score didnt work, im guessing that ive put that part in either the wrong file, or the wrong place.... basically, because im like Uber nub, i put it in the same file as the rest of the script kinda like this..... on *:SIGNAL:mta.finish: { if ($mta.rank($1,$2) <5> 1) { var %score = $replacex($mta.rank($1,$2),1,5,2,4,3,3,4,2,5,1) var %position = $replace($mta.rank($1,$2),1,first,2,second,3,third,4,fourth,5,fifth) mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,$2) came %position and earned %score points! !writeini " $+ $scriptdir $+ points.ini" POINTS $mta.nick($1,$2) $iif($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,$2)),$calc($v1 + %score),%score) } elseif ($mta.server($1).players == 1) { mta.text $1 Playing alone earned you 2 points! !writeini " $+ $scriptdir $+ points.ini" POINTS $mta.nick($1,$2) $iif($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,$2)),$calc($v1 + 2),2) } } on *:SIGNAL:mta.command: { elseif ($3 == !points) || ($3 == !score) { if (!$4) mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,$2) $+ 's Points: $readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,$2)) elseif (%a != -1) mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,%a) $+ 's Points: $readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.nick($1,%a)) else mta.text $1 $4 $+ 's Points: $iif($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$4) == $null,0,$v1) } elseif ($3 == !resetpoints) && ($gus.level($1,$2) > = 7) { if (!$4) mta.pm $1 $2 Type !resetpoints else { mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,$2) Has Reset $4 $+ 's Points. !writeini " $+ $scriptdir $+ points.ini" POINTS $4 0 } } if my guess is correct, i have put this in the wrong place, but im totally buggered on where the correct place is.[/code]

Thanks for that, im about to test it out, but from what ive seen so far, it seems to work ok, and i havent seen any scripts that are just a plain and simple score system, so from the style of script that i am looking for, this is the best one i have found. So at the moment, its just Tommis's General Use Scripts Finall + this points script, and it does the job, and theres bugger all stuffing around. i wil make another reply if i have any problems, but it looks like it sould be good, Thanks man.

id even go as far as saying that theres an 85% chance that THIS WEBSITE is hosted on a Linux server.

well, i seen the topic "Scripting" so i thaught it was the logical place to put the thread. Anyway, can anyone help out on this?

Hello all, just wondering if some smart person can add a command to this script, first of all, i have no idea who the creator of this script is, i just found it while googleing about one day.. the basic command i want is !points &/or !score wich i want to show up the points the user has, i would also like the ability to have a command !points to be able to check other peoples score. if anyone can help out on that it would be greatly apprecieated. Heres a copy of the script that i found..... on *:SIGNAL:mta.finish: { if (($mta.rank($1,$2) <5>= 2)) { var %score = $replacex($mta.rank($1,$2),1,5,2,4,3,3,4,2,5,1) var %position = $replace($mta.rank($1,$2),1,first,2,second,3,third,4,fourth,5,fifth) mta.text $1 $mta.nick($1,$2) came %position and earned %score points! !writeini " $+ $scriptdir $+ points.ini" POINTS $mta.ip($1,$2) $iif($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.ip($1,$2)),$calc($v1 + %score),%score) } elseif ($mta.server($1).players == 1) { mta.text $1 Playing alone earned you 2 points! !writeini " $+ $scriptdir $+ points.ini" POINTS $mta.ip($1,$2) $iif($readini($scriptdir $+ points.ini,POINTS,$mta.ip($1,$2)),$calc($v1 + 2),2) } } it also makes a file called points.ini where it saves the points.... it looks like this.... (i have removed the second octet from each ip addy for security reasons) [POINTS] 203.***.249.116=59 84.***.36.196=12 86.***.18.240=34 84.***.152.102=4 87.***.51.145=25 86.***.142.47=10 212.***.245.50=1 76.***.27.190=22 87.***.51.147=4 Would it be possible to save the points by username instead of IP? cos ive got a lot of "Dynamic mates" :::EDIT::: A mate just asked me to ask about a !resetpoints command for admins level 7 and higher to use.

Fav: Mandriva Linux 2007 Current: XP SP1 (Only because Mandriva 07 dosent have support for my Motherboards brand new SATA2 Controller.) i have seen a more buggy operating system than XP with the SP2 update..... Its called Vista. I have used... Win 3.1 win 3.11 Win 95 Win 98 Win Me XP XP sp1 XP sp2 Vista Mac OS X Mandriva Linux 03 Mandriva Linux 04 Mandriva Linux 05 Mandriva Linux 06 Mandriva Linux 07 Every operating system has its own problems, but the three most unstable of them are (from most stable to least) 1.Win XP, 2.Win ME, 3.Vista.

Question 1, where do i get these files... or if i have to create them, what original image do i use for the creation? Awnser for Courage's last post. That happens when the MTAMA does not recive the full racelist. make sure it says "Racelist Updated" before attempting to bust records.
-
We fixed ours. We wiped the VPS, reinstalled Fedora instead of CentOS, and all the other software we required, and not a problem.
-
Another server has just shown up with the exact same issue, Our server has been working for around 3 days, the server was shut off for maintenance, and when it came back up, its just showing a blank server window when attempting to load MTA Server, we have re uploaded all fresh files to the server, rebooted it many times, with no luck. any ideas?
-
just a side note, i did some command flood testing on my server, and i discovered that it doesnt just affect the mirc server.... i tested it with !info programmed into my G15 keyboard, so i could mash the button.... it doesnt take much to completely crash mirc, but whats worse is, when its done in rapid succession, it can completely lock up the game on other peoples computers, such as my mates who was helping me test. so i believe that all tho there is a problem with mIRC trying to reply to command spamming, there is also a problem with MTA itself that doesnt like it. --------------------- also, does that script mute or kick said player for spamming? cos im looking for something like that to help protect against that kind of thing.
