  1. I noticed, although it is afterall a fault of there own and not of mta. Personally, I believe as long as a server is properly managed to accomodate such problems theres nothing stopping it from becoming a success. Yes however I believe there are two different types of players. (in general) There are the types that stick to a certain server, kind of a player base dedicated to the one server. And there are those (like me) affectionately refferred to as "NOOB RANDOM, LAWL KICK AND BAN TEH HACKER" who just join a server because there are others playing in it. In my opinion it is often the first group that sparks the second group to join, thus an official server I suppose would have a strong chance of getting the player base which would join that server, simply because its linked with the official forums, and this would spark the second group to join too. There is a chance it would be a flop too ;P Also as a sidenote, running the server might take a bit of time from their developing MTADM and so slow their progress. (but I Don't know the level of work a server requires) I'm talking crap aren't I? Oh well, I suppose that's what you get for playing too much counter-strike, I feel smarter already, err, dumber. Dust plez, nub campfer.
  2. There are plenty of other servers, they just aren't popular, theres no telling whether an official server would generate any more interest than the current ones. Of course, thats in my insane opinion.
  3. I'm just wondering, but why do you want this?
  4. How about this one... MTADM will DEFINATELY be released before Windows is bug free. (LOL)
  5. Why do you think there would be lag and glitches? People positioning blocks on top of cars. Cars lagging into the blocks newly positioned by the spectator (I'm talking of the lag where the car is actually behind or in front of where you see it is, so it may "slip" into the prop and get stuck). Those are the ones which I'm pretty sure would definately be a problem. As for lag, I'm thinking that rotating roads, and jumps above your head being positioned would lag big-time, I dont know about your comp, but mine only lags (graphical lag) when props are moving, with 16 people, that makes 8 spectators, 8 new roads being built I would think would lag me. Of course a way to combat that is to only see those props once they are in place, this would certainly lead to a bit of confusion if a rival spectator put an explosive barrel right in front of you, or a random jump over the barrier of a road. On that idea, wouldnt it be fun to delete a prop from under a racer's wheels? All these "problems" said, Im thinking of this idea from a "real time" perspective, I have no idea what the blue engine is like or whether this is possible with it, but a turn based kinda thing may work. Spec mode - 1 minute to build to as many checkpoints as possible. Then Race mode - get as far as possible in 30 seconds after 30 seconds.... Spec mode again, another minute to build a path to as many checkpoints as possible then... Race mode - Same deal Repeat that until you get a certain number of checkpoints, you win the race, or a certain number of rounds are completed.
  6. I'm surprised someone with a lemming as a Display Picture didn't have a more positive response to this idea It would be a good idea, except the lag would be unbearable, and the glitches unavoidable. Good in concept, irredeemably flawed in practice.
  7. With you assuming that "we are not sure" means that it will be in the holidays, if a dev comes in here and says "we really dont know" you then take your assumption that it will be released in the holidays, spread the word to other people, it becomes a rumour which most believe, and then it ISNT released in the holidays, people get annoyed at devs. You get the drift? You can kinda see why the devs dont want to give a concrete-release date, or even a period of time, people misquote a guesstimate as fact.
  8. We have a blog for that. There is a large feature we haven't revealed yet, and when we reveal it, you will understand why it seems to be taking a long time. Ooh.. I actually sat straighter in my chair when I read that
  9. My computer runs San andreas at 2400x1800 resolution, with everything to HYPER-ULTRA-MAX, and its NOT EVEN PLUGGED IN! I used to have 4gb of RAM, but I put it back to 256mb of RAM because the computer needed a work out. My computer is so good that I finish maps on MTASA before the other competitors Load the map!

    Beta

Record IP's, Hack into their computer and change their welcome OS splash screen to "YOU'VE BEEN CHOSEN! MTASA.COM!". Simple.
  11. I didnt get a screeny of it.. But two funny moments come to mind... Firstly, Cops and robbers server, somehow or another... 4.. thats right 4 whole cop cars somehow piled up on top of one robber in a perfect stack (some of them a bit rotated and one of them flipped over, Also they WERE against a wall and a light post). I was driving over a jump at the time and I crashed the whole lot of them. That was more of a "I cant believe that just happened" moment then a funny one. The other moment for me was on the same server, I was a cop, robber was simply driving around me at high speed because it was 1 on 1 with 30 seconds left. I had a terrible ping, must of been lagging so much that one moment this guy was driving around me and I was trying to swerve into him, the next he was flying off and landed in the water, and died. Fun times.
  12. All you had to do was post the first line of your signature. Thread over, you win
  13. You also said the SA-MP team dont "care" about their own mod. Which truly doesnt make sense from the start. *shrug* If they didnt care about their own mod, why did they make it?
  14. Bananaphone was a crap song, and its annoying. Ooh, the Flame is on now.
  15. SA-MP is the most played Deathmatch mod for san andreas at the moment. However it is quite buggy, only in beta version 0.1 and has poor (if any) anti-cheat. (there is a lot of cheaters, and accusations of cheaters, and it is often difficult to tell who is cheating because of the bugs and sometimes poor sync) That said, it IS a lot of fun, however It is plainly obvious on inspection that Multi Theft Auto San-Andreas Deathmatch will be vastly superior to San-Andreas Multiplayer as it doesn't have the polish which MTA will have, and not nearly as many features. There is no reason why not to get both mods however.
  16. I Think some people are misinterpreting what the OP is saying. CHEATS are the things you type in to spawn a tank, or change all the ped's in single player to clowns, or to give car's the ability to fly. This is NOT people who hack, or exploit bugs in the game, he is talking about enabling cheats which Rockstar put into the singleplayer game on purpose. Rockstar obviously wanted people to use cheats sometimes as a bit of fun when normal mode got boring, therefore, it IS how it is supposed to be played. Sometimes. If it isnt supposed to be played that way (obviously not the entire time, I mean "supposed" in that it is meant to be used to spice things up after you have finished the game and want to muck around, or you are getting bored and wish to make things more difficult by turning on ped riot's etc.), why did rockstar put it in the game?
  17. I wouldnt know myself, but I would guess that they aren't developing this game to "pull in the crowds", I would say they are making this for the challenge and the Honour of releasing a complete, Smooth, Relatively Bug Free game. I don't believe that bringing it out to "draw the crowds" would be the best idea, it is a let down to those who have waited so long for an amazing mod, and it would be embarassing to develop a game broken and buggy. I'm Happy to wait another Year until this comes out, If need be. Its not like they havent already released a MTASA game already, Play that until Deathmatch is out. If you dont like racing, then play SA-MP. Unless of course, you dont want to play SA-MP. Because it is a "infeferror, a total piece of :~", and in that case it proves that DM shouldnt be released yet at all.
  18. Sounds like you downloaded MTA v 1.0 instead of the current v 1.10. My Friend had this problem, he simply uninstalled and installed again and it worked.
  19. Just wondering if its been tested on a not so amazing connection. I live in Australia, and although i have the best connection I can get, I still get Ping's of 200+ (usually around 220) in the current Race Mode as I am so far away from America. Has this kind of a connection been tested yet in MTA:DM Alpha? If so, how good does this translate in terms of where you see the bullets going, and where they are actually going? (and yes I know there will be Australian servers )
  20. It's not difficult to enable trainers ingame via hotkey, that isnt an issue.
