VC Crashing at startup

I installed Vice City;

Language is English (But my version is multilanguage);

I started at least one single player game (I saved the game);

(I haven't got a cracked version. I own the cds)

I installed mta 0.5;

Here is the error that occurs (with v1.0 and v1.1) when I launch a multiplayer deathmatch:

Is this the following error ? or did I made something wrong ?

Crash when Vice City Deathmatch is loading

We're not sure what causes this, but we know that about 60% of these crashes can be fixed by upgrading to vice city 1.1 instead of 1.0. If you're already using 1.1, wait - we're working on it. (also see next)

if thats windows 98, than you are out of luck.

EDIT: so you can run the client, but not VC (if its win98 im suprized)

Yeah, that looks like Windows 98 or Me. MTA only works on XP and 2000. They said that Blue (the next core) may work on older operating systems but they haven't tested that yet.

That problem is caused by Xfire. Turn off Xfire and you will not have that problem.

I use windows XP but with the old skin (it uses a little less gpu)

and I don't use Xfire !

chronos, copy all the gxt files from the gtavc\TEXT folder except the american.gxt and put them in the gtavc\MTA folder

I don't understand, why putting the language files into the MTA folder resolves the problem (maybe it's becuse I have the multilanguage version, is it true ?) but it works.

When I use this original one, the game crashes during the Rockstar-Intro. The "Windows-Error-Reporting-Window" appears, but the Trailer of Rockstar goes to the end. Then the screen keeps black => Game crashed. I've looked into the "Known-Issues" and found something, that the german exe won't work. So I've searched the Net for an english-Exe, but I've only found a cracked one. With this one I get into the Main-Menu and can select "Start Game => Start MTA Game". After loading the Server kicks me with the reason "Suspected Trainer Usage". This probably belongs to the cracked exe!

Ah yeah: And I've selected "English" as default Language (Like it has written in the "Known Issues"!)!

So does anyone have an English-Original-Exe for me?? You can mail it to me, give me a link or you can upload it to my ftp! If you want to upload it to my FTP, please send me a PM, so I can give you the connection-data!

hi, you can try this patch:

however, this requires you to have an original german gta-vc.exe (i think). so get the original off of your install disc, then patch it. If your still having problems, PM me and i can make the the patcher support it
