Hotrings, Love Fist and Spawn Locations.

What happened to them?

I go away for a while, come back hearing that 0.41 is out. Then I load up the game then find that:

- The robber's spawn has been moved to a crappy location - no more stubby fights at the robber's house. Pointless.

- You've removed the Love Fist band member character. He used to spawn at the stadium with 3 or 4 bikes right next to him. He was a great character. This leads me onto the other point:

- You've removed the hotrings from the stadium. Again, pointless.

Also, the weather system is pretty horrible. You're driving along and all of a sudden it goes from sunny to pissing with rain with a very bad transition. Totally ruins any bits of immersion you may have had. I hope this was just a server mod or something.

I don't get why you would make some of the changes that I've listed. They just seem pointless changes that don't add to the game in any way.

You can now have pointless stubby fights in Phils yard instead.

Moving the robber took into account the new police spawns, the fact VCC was entirely based on island one now and to utilise the rarely used side of island two, and it worked, lots of action around the shantytown and roads leading off it now, as well as on island one.

Nice skin but a rarely used and underpowered character designed to give stunters an option that was left over from before stunt mode existed. One that was no longer needed and gave way to the far cooler (according to posts regarding them so far) Secret Service. Also increasing the Island One action as they spawn there.

The hotrings havn't all been removed. Perhaps you refer to the bloodring bangers? This was a tough decision, one that trx and I disagreed on to some extent, but demo derby was rarely used and the vehicle slots taken were much needed elsewhere to place vehicles more evenly.

Not sure how this 'ruins any bits of immersion' we had. You preferrred eternal sun and half the server playing at night whilst the other half played during the daylight? Sure the transition is rather rapid. Blame it on the cold front and the tropical storm off the coast throwing the weather into turmoil and perhaps that will satisfy your need for immersion :)

What does this have to do wit GTA3 though?

Yeah, I was sure I was in the VC section, oops.

Thanks for replying, but I still think the Love Fist guy should still be in there, surely it's just an extra character to choose from which must be a good thing...

About the hotrings, this is what i'm talking about - http://vcpd.vicecityunleashed.com/Scree ... Racer2.jpg. Maybe they've just been moved, I haven't looked everywhere yet, but they're not in the hotring track.

I rarely used the hotrings or the destruction derby cars on the tracks, but I used to drive them them out of the stadium and use them as normal vehicles.

Just like the Secret Service guy is another character. I think they're planning to sync all skins in Blue anyway, so you'd be able to play as the Love Fist guy then.

:lol: hahahaahaa, funny to hear you say that (pointless stubby fights)

I could not agree more.

I personally liked the silly biker gang skins.. Especially the one with the butt crack showing :lol: I love roleplaying as a dooped up high school dropout with that char.

The secret service chars are ok, but thier locations do not add much action to those more boring parts of vice city, in which they spawn. IMO- the punk gang was more usefull, having their super fast bikes and crazy parties!

Taking out the blooding ring racers, and 2 bloodring bangers was the single worst thing you did to 4.1. You say you guys did this cause not many used them, WELL WHY IS THAT? Becasue you did not exploit this more!

I have shown so many people the demo pit, and they are like WHOA! Where did this come from!? They have no idea you guys put in the sweet demo pit with spawning cars! It is a wonderfull break from boring stubby fights!

I got a lot of people into some serious demo derbys in 3.0 and just loved it! You should have added more cars to the demo pit, or at least put cars IN THE ARENA in stunt mode. rather then put them outside.

Instead you took out these vehicles, to place more in that part of town, non of us bother playing in.

That part of town is really boring. I say purge it, and build san fran style hills for us to crash up and down on! :D (the part of town I am referring to is the downtown section between the lighthouse and police station with interior)

I love the new weather changings, but I HATE the frequent, and just annoying FOG! Does anyone here like fog? anyone? If we like fog, we can just turn the view distance down in the options menu  Basically that is all that is happening.

Otherwise, I am more immersed into this game when I hear crashing thunder, and rain. 8)

I sorta agree with the author of this thread, what happened to the fun stuff?

I got to admit that I was sad to see the four hotrings in the stadium being removed, red one was my favorite :)

I've spent many gaming hours racing in the track, also destruction derby was fun, but I didn't play it that much. Mainly I would go in there and take the hotring outside of the stadium to race through the city, sometimes races with up to 8 vehicles. These 4 hotrings were perfect for arranging a fast race cause you had them all in the same location, but now I would go to a stunt server were you have cars in big numbers at the same location, stunt is better for races. (btw how many hotrings are there in stunt?)

Still I was one of those players that liked to have people shooting at me when racing, then I would own them 8)

Also about the weather, just setup a server with random weather disabled. But I know that no servers use that anyways.

I liked demo derby more, (having 15 players in there, with firetrucks, ambulances, choppers, packers, you name it,,,, all these players and vehicles smashing into each other, it was just freaking fun! ) You could get almost any vehicle in the stadium if you knew the tricks.

But who can forget the ultimate getaway car (hotring racer)!! I too loved racing with other players from the docks to the ammunation.

Having people there trying to shoot out our tires as we drove by, also added to the experience and challange :lol:

Races in the hotring were ok too, but a real nascar like stadium would rock!

I say we need some kind of stunt park outside, with many spawning cars, and loops, jumps, ramps, a monster truck and a car crushing pit?

Speaking as one who does more fighting then racing or destruction derbying or anything like that I'd have to say pulling those cars out is just fine. It allowed for more cars scattered throughout the map as well as more VARIETY of cars. Though I'm still wondering where my Blista Compact is in Deathmatch. It's good to have more cars out in the map where people fight rather then 8 cars cooped up inside a stadium ring that noone ever goes to.

There are more fighters then there are racers or derbiers (Is that a word?) so they should of course cater to the majority. While I agree that the Ocean Beach side of Vice City is rarely used, I think that the relative spread of cars has vastly improved. I would love to see more people over on island one, but I can understand why people tend to stick to Island two more. .1 was all over around the Malibu, .2 was sort of spread around a bit, but island one started thinning out at that point. However, there were no good cars on that side of the map for .2. .3rc2 was a decent spread, though still island one suffered from lack of cars or at the very least, they were all packed together in clumps (Washington Beach PD, Watertower Parking Lot). I think the spread of cars is just fine, though there still seems to be a heavy proportion of people on island two instead of one. I don't know if there's a way to resolve this issue without giving Robbers a random spawn similar to the Police or VCC.

The most abused class in VC will of course draw folks to gather in those areas, so whereever the Robber is, that's where the primary fighting will be.

I'm not upset about the Racer going away, it was useless. The SS is a far better "class" to have in there then the racer, and it DOES balance out the car spread. Whereas the Racer would spawn near *11* cars, the SS only has 3 and a weapon pickup now. Spread those cars around and you've got balance. All's well with the removal of the Racer and most of the cars in that area.

Very good points indeed.

However, IMO, untill fighting can be done without such huge delay, I think the game should be built more for car\stunt things then fighting.... Fighting is further hurt by frequent crashes from spawning.. If fighting worked decently, I would fully agree with you, but it doesn't. I can sit there and shoot 3 solid shotgun shots into a char standing, before the effect is even seen. This has got to be some kind of record for the longest fire delay ever? And I have played this game on 256k cable, and 1mb\sec dsl. (no difference)

If robbers spawned in the boring part of island 1, yes it would draw more players. But as far as driving goes, it is still a boring area with few jumps, or interesting things. The SS char is ok, but if you are gona play MTA for kills, you would want robber anyways, for the stubby jump fights.

I still enjoy fighting is VC (I always play as the cops to bust some serious a$$) but I have far more fun screwing around with packers, and bikes ect.

It really sucks that player skins DO NOT show up correctly for everyone...

You can spawn as a cop, to help the cop team, and fellow cops (who are playing cops vs robs with you) will shoot you cause on thier screen your skin is not a cop. So playing as a team can be difficult. (who is what? kind of scenario)

SO untill they make a WORTHY stunt mode, I say put some more bloodring bangers back in the demo pit so I can show people what MTA is really about.:D

cause jumping laggy stubby fights is not what multiplayer theft auto was supposed to be about.....

I don't know where you get the idea that there's some kind of phenominal delay. You talk as if it's virtually impossible to hit someone, when it isn't. I've been moving away from the Robber a bit lately and working with the SS more, primarily for the reason stated above. I'm tired of the jumping glitchy stubby wars, they just get old and boring. Perhaps Blue will have those glitches taken out and it can get back to some measure of talent rather then who can glitch with the stubby.

Anyway, back on topic... The aiming is vastly improved in .4 then in previous revisions. Straight fire weapons are far more useful then they used to be. I don't know if the delay thing your talking about is those momentary pauses while firing a rapid fire weapon that seem to be in there, but that's the only delay thing I've found. As with any other online shoot-em-up, you have to lead your opponent a bit and follow their movement. When you catch them, you know it. MTA isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn good for what it is.

As for the skin problem you stated... Usually the radar is correct unless you just came back from a crash, in which case it shows them as a yellow blip. This problem is resolved after they die and respawn however. Use the radar as a quick referance to what class they are. I don't see many skin display problems these days, and since I rarely play on any team that not goverened by Nicks (Which are 100% reliable vs. skins, which are not) perhaps I just don't notice it. Common sense can prevail in the situation you mentioned (The skin going wonky when you play as a cop in cops and robbers). If that guy just came up and started blasting the same robber you are, odds are he's on your side.. Don't shoot him =)

Spawning crashes happen mostly with the robber (Which continues to strike me as ironic ;) ) and often only on servers that are packed to the gills and where there's 5 or 6 people having a lame ass spwanwar. Less players usually means less likelihood of a crash. You don't have to be a robber to fight, you just have to be a bit more strategic with the other classes. MTA GTA III taught me that, and it doesn't have classes.. Use the terrain to your advantage, be sneaky =)

lol, I play as cop almost always, and litteraly this game has a 75% chance IT WILL CRASH after I die and respawn. I just hate fighting cause I know when I die, I will have to restart the game.

The delay I speak of--- I hear a few players like you in game say it is not so bad, but more people agree with me, it takes several shots on a standing player to see any damage occure.

I have tested this delay with my brother, and it really is bad. Yes, it is easier now with .4 then in .3,,, but it is still really poor delay.... I hear many players complain about this, so it ain't just me. Leading your target does work sure, but this is not comparable to other online shooters, and tends to be random as to how much lead you need each time (unreliable)

Even with these problems, I still enjoy playing as a cop and fighting from time to time.

The skin problem is a hazard!!!! I use common sense, and know who is on my team, but when we get about 10 cops, and one idiot starts shooting another cop cause he looks like something else, they all start shooting, and just like that the cops annihilate each other into oblivion!

While funny, it makes playing heated sceenarios almost immpossible. Other players are oblivious to the fact that there is a skin problem.

Untill blue comes out, and fighting becomes awesome,,, why not tune this game more towards the stunting side? That part does work fine. The current stunting mode sucks, and needs an update... Untill then, I'll do my stunting in the DM servers.

NOTE TO MTA TEAM---- Now Hiring! 10 bloodring bangers! Please deliver to demo pit in either DM or stunt mode.... Paying 10 car wrecks an hour! :D Bonus pay for a new demo pit in middle of vc map!
