Crashing when I spawn

After I am killed, when I re-spawn the game crashes and I have to hit Escape to quit, then restart game. This is very annoying. What could be the problem?

hi,

no error-msg box whatsoever for me. Usually the game just freezes. About 85% of each respawn for me.

I have a PC w/ 384MB ram, Windows XP, Service Pack1 with latest updates (but no service pack 2) and a radeon 9800 Pro graphicscard with the latest drivers. I use original gtavc 1.1 and the no-cd patch.

In game i have frame limiter off, draw distance at highest.

I usually have the latest Winamp runnig in the background while i am playing.

Anyway next time i will see *if* there is some message, but iam quite sure there is no message box, just he freezes and quit to desktop.

try ur chipset if thats not updated it causes crashes sometimes

If you switch on sounds for message boxes, you should be able to hear the box pop up in the background (that's assuming it does).

he doesn get the error msg becuz he presses escape. Try Alt+tabbing out and then see what the box says.

i cant alt-tab since the game is totally frozen. the only way to exit/restart the game is pressing escape.
