orappa
How come MTA can't automatically detect the version? Surely it's a matter of filesize or date? Link to comment
SM xenex
the raeson moslty it wont detect the version is if a person is using a no cd crack. Link to comment

Si|ent
I think you missed xenexs point johnchappel, mta doesnt encourage the use of cracks but we don't go out of our way to prevent it either. getting the client to set version dependant on a crc of your client would prevent use of cracks altogether, as none will have standard vc.exes CRC or filesize, and some, tho VERY few have what they see as valid legal reasons for using one Link to comment
orappa
Well... I have a genuine version and I take good care of my CDs, so I see no reason, legal or not, to use one. Possible arguments: 1. "It's annoying swapping CDs" - It takes less than 10 secs to insert the CD. 2. "There's a problem with my drive" - Get a new one. Simple. 3. "My CD was scratched when I bought it and I'm not buying a new one" - You should have checked it before you bought it, and / or get a refund. 4. "I use a laptop and don't like lugging loads of CDs around" - Travel lighter. My laptop's battery won't last long enough for me to play a great number of games. Link to comment

It's called organisation 2) Don't play the game until you have enough money to buy a new drive then. DERP?? 3) No, it's possible. It just needs to be really deep though, or lots of them concentrated in one area. 5) By that logic, you can't tell me that I can't tell people what to do Link to comment
