slush Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 This was a known problem that we unfortunately forgot to mention. It seemed as if the Catalyst 3.5 drivers had a major bug which caused a fatal system error (and hence a reboot) on systems using them because of a particular method MTA used to gain access to drawing functions in the game. ATI was quick to fix this problem. Please upgrade your drivers if you experience this behavior. -Derek aka slush
MeSsInA Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 I tried closing all programs down but no change. I don't receive an error, i just clicked start game... a few secs pass, and (i assume) vice city attempts to read the cdrom... and boom, it reboots.Like i say, loading the game normally for single play is fine. My specs are: Intel P4 2.7Ghz Asus P4T533-C 512MB PC1066 RDRAM ATi Radeon 9700 Pro Creative Audigy Platinum 6 x U2W SCSI 10K Hard Disks and CDRom, DVD, CDRW. 56k Modem P.S. i tried a cr##k also but this made no difference so i went back to the original exe. Blah... Windows XP Pro. maybe your 56k
Pip Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 Have you got hyper threading on? theres a problem with some modems and ht support on that causes you to restart, or that blue screen.
eAi Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 Anyone who has this problem is probably using an ATI card. If you are make sure you have the latest drivers from http://www.ati.com. eAi
