Compare: SA-MP & MTA

Hello,

I currently play on a SA-MP roleplay server that is planning to switch to MTA in the future. I was wondering about how MTA compares to SA-MP. I've noticed that SA-MP is extremely de-synched, which is extremely annoying. For instance, your friend may see a vehicle blow up, and you might see it just sitting there, perfectly fine, or maybe you don't even see it at all. Does that happen in MTA, or are things more synched? Also, I was wondering, if I make a fire with a flame thrower and someone logs in 1 minute later, will they see the fire?

Overall the synch is better, like robhol said. If you blow a car here, everyone sees that. Instead of one person seeing a car, another a wreck and another absolutely nothing... And about the flames, no not everything is synched... (unfortunately :( )

Also, MTA has a lot of extra options. Ofcourse, it has some that SA:MP does have! But MTA has more to offer than you'd loose! ;)

I do have to admit that RP feels a bit worse on MTA... Dunno why... But RPG on the other hand is a lot better here! :P

I'd suggest you try it out. For most you can install SA:MP and MTA together without any problems, so you can play SA:MP and MTA whenever you like! (what I did while considering switching! :D)

ive never had that for someone blew a vehicle which didnt do the same for me, in general mtas sync is much better than sa:mps but its still not perfect, fire, movable objects and destructible objects are not perfect yet, and melee combats should also be improved.

nearly perfect synced are bullets, even with an average to high ping. if you have any trouble there its mostly because your opponent has very low FPS. the position of vehicles is also awesome. i've never seen someone walk/drive though a car because of desync

and btw here you can destruct cars with no driver lol

I see it all the time. What is even more annoying when someone actually makes your car burst into flames until it explodes, gets into the vehicle and drives away, like wtf?! Or when you chase some noob runner to the end of the world and he escapes by getting in a vehicle that isn't on your screen. That really pisses me off.

What version of SA do you need for mtasa ?

can you use second edition ? I have both

But I want my son to play also.

You need version 1.0, but if you have another you can probably downgrade it without any trouble. What you could do is copy the 1.0 EXE over the other one. If that doesn't work, google "GTA San Andreas Downgrader" :P

It's actually something good to compare SA-MP and MTA. They both just have different pros and cons. (/me is thinking of ANY SA-MP pros... :P) And comparing them is the way to knowing what's the best one to you. Eventually, MTA will be much better anyway I guess, but it's always your own opinion.

SA-MP pro, easy: Player COUNT. Not even base, but COUNT. Other than that I couldn't find another pro for my life. :P

Dp2 is in my opinion still better than SA-MP, but when DP3 comes there's no room for doubt: the only thing holding people to SA-MP will be ignorance and stubbornness. (Which is, I guess, to some degree, true now also)
