Guest Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 AVG Network Edition 7.5 updated today (It updates everyday) and then scanned. It came back screaming that MTAServerAdmin.exe is Worm/Generic.CXV I downloaded this program straight from mta's website. I am an advanced user so I know that this file was downloaded from a safe source. I also know that this machine is not infected in any other way. Why in the heck is this file being reported as a worm? The only thing I can think of is that Grisoft changed their heriousitics and being a serveradmin tool it thinks it is a bad guy. WTF is going on? Has anyone else run into this? I was not using mtaserveradmin at the time, i actually havent touched gta or mta in 6 months, it has just been installed sitting there.

Like the dev's said before, MTA hacks into GTA's memory addresses, so its bound to have anti-virus scanners make false positives about it. Although I believe they were talking about the client, not the server... O_o

Oli Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 all it does it connect to a server and report things when it gets packets telling it whats going on etc.. no dodgy code in it at all, god knows what this anti-virus thinks it is

Guest Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 but it is not a virus, what's the prob with ignoring it i cant just listen to u random people and believe it. i didnt install it, but if u have it installed, go to http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and scan the serveradmin file there and see if any of the antiviruses detect it. i had a similar problem with WoW. i had a faulty virus. can somebody send this to avg so they can get it fixed? p.s.: is it safe to install Dameon Tools (even though i dont liek the fact that it always runs in the task bar.) if i click Exit, then it will no longer be running,right?

Same with daemon tools, you can't even imagine what it's doing when being in tray!!! Scary things. And huh, Exit turning it off? never. Are you scared of your keyboard too? ever noticed those lights at the top right corner they are watching us

If they were going to do something like this I am sure they would have done it a long time ago. And Virus programs don't usually help anyway. . . and if you are so paranoid, do not do transactions over the internet. Or the phone. Or anything but in person. Oh know my phone is tapped the US government is stealing my credit card info!! AHH!
