Guest
Are there any rules you should follow to make a "good" race track? Like, "Don't place checkpoints closer than 50 m" or "Don't put them through alleyways" or something like that. I'm about to try making a race track, and I'd like some advice before starting. Thanks in advance! Link to comment
erorr404
Don't place spawnpoints too close to eachother, if possible. Other than that, just use common sense and test the race for yourself to see how well it works. Link to comment
Ransom
if your map doesnt seem to provide equal opportunity to win, people wont like it. Keep that in mind. ie dont bottleneck the map or the guy in the 1st place spawn has an easy win if hes got skill, while the others are in a traffic jam. Link to comment
Guest
What if I make a race without checkpoints? For example: Players spawn on top of Mt. Chillad and the first one to Idlewood, Los Santos wins? Would that be a good or bad idea. Link to comment
SDK
it depends, some players don't know the sa map to good, so the players who know the map have an advantage Link to comment
zerb
Be creative in your design as well, try something different that no one has manage to accomplish. Explore other possibilities for example. Link to comment
major underscore
A thread on this topic was recently started by driver2. Take a look at it: http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=18464 There are many good suggestions there that you will benefit from when you make your first map. Link to comment
Dark Dragon
try making the start big enought for 32 players... nothing sucks more than a map with a small stair at the beginning where u cant go because everyone wants to go there too alwasy think of idiots who just want to piss of others... test your map before uploading, try everything, search 4 bugs and try to place the repairs at the right places dont make the map to long 2-5 min are good try making the map understandable, put the cps at the right place and everyone will instantly know what u want in your map let the players do different things, a race just on the highway, avoiding barrels can get booring very quick choose the right car for ur map bullet on an offroad track would be... eh... u can use vehicle change pickups do something new! find something whats never been here before dont use to many fog generators, some people got problems with the fog in gta (performance slows down) dont make the checkpoints to small... missing a cp makes me angry^^ ah and: put funny thinks near the track, ornaments plants trees rocks... building an own small city or forest can be funny too! i hope that will help u greez dragon Link to comment
