reasonable price for this hardware?

i need some new hw, basically for game cause thats what i use the pc the most

euros are about the same as us dollars and swiss franks (CHF) are about the same as australian dollars

i will probably get some discount, maybe 10 or 20%

should i get this or should i wait for something? (for example the new nvidia cards..)

my current specs: intel p4 2.4ghz, geforce 4ti 128mb, ram will stay the same as my current sticks are pretty good

im just wondering if a 2.2 ghz amd would make much difference compared to my current 2.4ghz intel, maybe i should go for a better cpu?

would i be able to run newest games on max settings?

would this setup last for a while or would i need to upgrade in no time..

My completely biased advice would be to wait for the new Intel Apple PowerMacs and run Windows on them. Seriously, those things are going to be way faster than anything else out there.

If you can wait, get Intel's Conroe for your processor. It should be out in a month and will be un-matched until AMD comes out with their next-gen chip.

As for the graphics card I'd get something a bit cheaper.. I'm not up to date on what the best value is currently but something like the 7800GT.

You wouldnt need a video card like that for the pc you are building. Go with something in the 7800 family since its cheaper and still gives great performance

why not? im getting new hw cause new games dont run anymore so how can that card be "too good"? i dont get it

and maybe http://www.ebay.com ebay will always give you a ballpark as some sell new. Also if you click advanced and checkmark "completed auctions only" you can see generally how much they go for new&used (the reasonably good buy).

Well if you are getting new hardware go with a AMD 4000 or a cpu from the dual core line up. Then if you decide to go SLI you wouldnt have to upgrade your CPU.

Also what speed are your current sticks of ram?

If you're going to take some cheaper gfx card, get 7900GT. If not, then go for 7950GX2. It should cost about the same price as 7900GTX, but will be faster.
