UnrealDecoy
Okay, mtasa won't let me use <>'s as a clan tag. When I type Sheepee as my playername in mtasa it shows as _DMC>Sheepee in the playerlist. Is there any chance of this being fixed in a future release? Link to comment
eAi
That is odd, we'll look into it. Link to comment
Aeron
That is odd, we'll look into it. This is protection against: immitators. You implent it urself, (Or Oli !@!11!11!21@#!@1!!11one!!!) Link to comment
UnrealDecoy
How about you can only use <>'s if there is text after it so that: won't work but name would (this would be a pointless attempt at an imitation) Link to comment
slush
because people would still think that is an administrator talking to them. Link to comment
UnrealDecoy
OK, so make it so that if someone has any of or or or it doesn't work (the first < shows up as an _ ) but if you have anything else ( included) it does? It's usually pretty obvious when someone is immitating an admin anyway. Isn't that hard to change it surely? Link to comment
Ransom
Obviousness is relative to the observer.. and there are some foolish people in MTA. It just can't be done because people could manipulate the tags too much. It would take alot of extra work just so you can use "<" without risk. The standard gang tag was defined with "[ ]" ages ago in mtavc for a similar reason... problems with { } brackets (pm'ing players, wasnt it?). I suggested VCP start using [ ] and other gangs eventually switched to, as they were obviously the best alternative. Link to comment
UnrealDecoy
Isn't this a little extreme to, essentially, stop 3 names being used? It's a huge removal of functionality to clans who have always used <> for their clan tag. You said yourself that "obviousness is relative to the observer" you then went on to say that "[] ...were obviously the best alternative." Well I'm sorry to say that it's not obvious to me... Let me put it another way: If I have my name as I don't look like an admin, so why shouldn't I be allowed to call myself ? Link to comment
eAi
We might look into solving it, but its hardly a "huge removal of functionality". Just prefix and suffix your tag with something else, or prefix the whole tag with another character, e.g. - or a space. I know its annoying, but to be honest we really have a lot of more important things to look at fixing right now Link to comment
J0han
Seems that there is also a problem in the gui text boxes, at least for me. Sometime i just can't write '[sPA]Johan'. When I get to write the 'a', the '[sPA]Joh' dissapears The only solution I found is to write first 'an' and then '[sPA]Joh'. (Or edit myself the ini file) [EDIT] Made a new thread for this, in the client's help area subforum: http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?p=233545#233545 Link to comment
