Could the 10047 run-time error be caused by this?

Hello! I was excited to learn about the new release of GTA3MTA, because multiplayer in GTA3 would have been very interesting.

However, I was disappointed that 0.3b didn't work out for me, I was really looking forward to it.

The biggest problem I have encountered is the "Run-time error 10047 : Address family not supported".

This happens every time I click "Send game request" on the server computer (Strangely, this once worked correctly on the WinME computer, and this computer was the server).

My theory as to the cause of the problem is that your program doesn't support U.S. IP addresses. When I first booted MTA up, there was an IP address already filled in, but it started with 195.xxx instead of 169.254. To my knowledge, 169.254 is the standard IP family, but that may not be true in Europe. If MTA is a European program, then it might not work on other continents.

There is another thing I would like to know: how do I determine my port number? I already know the WINIPCFG can tell me my IP, but the port number is a mystery to me.

Unfortunately, even though I can install computer hardware and set up programs and get computers running on a LAN, I don't know much about IP programs, and my theory may be a load of crap. Oh well!

HELP!

I'm afraid it is a load of crap Mosin-Nagant (did you get your name from 'Mafia' btw?). :P

I believe IP adresses are first allocated by region, then split down several levels of organisation before your ISP gets its range, one of which it gives to each person connecting to their service. i.e you, or anyone running an MTA server.

If you take a look at the GGM serverlist you'll see how they vary around the world. The only way a program would be selective about what addresses it can work with/connect to is if was specifically written that way, which MTA obviousely isn't. :)

Hope that helps.
