Hi,

no servers are showing up when i click on browse. I am playing on a wireless network. do i need to forward a port to my router? If so what port does this new MTA use. Also when i try to type in an ip and port on quick connect it says unable to connect time out. Any help would be most appreciated!

You shouldn't need to change any port settings, inbound to play MTA. You should really allow all outgoing ports.

Thanks, any idea how i open all outgoing ports?

Your problem is most likley a software firewall, just disable any firewall when ever you play MTA, then enable it when finished...

I have already disabled my firewall, tried forwarding ports too. what port does mta use? mta 5.0 used 2003 i think, i have tried forwarding that port but still no servers in the browser. maybe its just not meant to be. i will have to try my other pc

port binding is only done on the server, the clien allocates an arbitrary port, most routers will allow this just fine, if you have a software firewall you may have to set it to specifically allow the client to connect.

As far as port forwarding goes, however, you shouldnt have to do anything for the client. we couldn't even tell you a port to forward, as the port is different every time you run the game.

As far as hosting a server, ports need to be forwarded right? I have had the biggest problem trying to host a server. I have DSL and a router. I've read every post and cannot get it to work. portforward.com tells me how to do it , but it just doesnt work. I can connect to my server using localhost but it wont show up in browser or ASE. Are there any other options for me?

This kind of contradicts what eAi said but, I have Zone Alarm Pro (software firewall) on my PC and I have to configure Zone Alarm to allow incoming connections for the "Program" GTA_SA.EXE otherwise I cannot receive the server list. All I get is a list of unknown servers with 9999 ping, although it does show the number of servers in the bottom right (which is probably obtained with an 'aoutbound' connection.

I dont have to port forward but thats because my PC has a public IP address. Hope this is of some help.
