We've just released the internal beta 17 to the QA team, which fixes 23 issues in total. Beta 16 had a number of critical issues that have been resolved in beta 17. We are nearing Release Candidate stage, though we know that beta 17 isn't quite there yet - a few outstanding issues surounding the anti-cheat and a memory leak in the map editor have yet to be resolved. Neither should take too long, thankfully.

Anyway, if you haven't yet seen our Christmas video that shows off some of the maps that we intend to release with the first version, click here.

can i be beta tester? it is so exciting the stuff you are doing

Read the rules, you cant ask to betatest.

:/ where can i ask then?

The beta testers are people that the team members know very well, considering you're a newbie who has posted like 5 times on here, and nobody knows you, you won't be picked as one.

Even I wasn't picked, so there's no chance of you being picked.

The best way to become a beta tester is to take an active part in the community. That doesn't mean make 20 posts then ask us, or even a hundred posts then ask... It means, give somthing to the community - explain things to other people who are new for example - and if we notice you and think you're doing a good "job" you may get in. Most people in the QA team have done beta testing with us for many years, and almost everyone has been part of the community for at least a year.

Incorrect, actually I was banned by MrBump from IRC and the forum countless times, he's now been kicked from the team for abusing his power on several occasions.

I'm probably the higest poster in this section, and I've also made quite a few topics on various things (how to install the Linux server etc), some of which have been stickied.

@ Black Dragon, get JonChappell to forward you the PM I sent him, it goes into great detail.

Not at all, but he was an ircop on the multitheftauto server, and used to kill/gline people all the time, eventually the rest of the team were annoyed with it so they confronted him about it, he wasn't happy about it and he "went to get something from the fridgde", signed off irc and didn't return for another 2 months or so. Now he's not an ircop, doesn't have op in the channel, and I don't think he contributes to the team anymore.

All he did was write a manual to one of the older versions, if my memory serves me correctly.

Yeah I know, I never wanted to betatest really in the first place, I quit playing MTA a long time ago because I used to get really mad at shit when I played it, like how you could shoot like some guy like 50 times and they'd get back up and kill you, and the random crashes etc, I smashed so many mouses during my MTA 0.4/0.5 days that I thought it would be cheaper (and healthier) just to buy a different game and quit MTA altogether. And with Blue just being beta, it probably crashes MORE than the current versions and I'd just get mad and start breaking things. I still try to be as helpful as I can in the MTA community though, posting a lot in the help section of the forums.

Either ways I don't really wanna play anything which is coded by Oli until I know it's been FULLY indepth checked by the rest of the team because there's that risk of it stealing my passwords/other various shit off my PC without me knowing.

If I wanted to betatest Blue, I probably would have asked when it was started.

If Blue is anything as good as they make it out to be, I'll play it when it comes out and if it doesn't satisfy me more than the current versions do, I'll scrap it and lose interest.

It doesn't. Having spoken regularly to many of the team I'm aware he did much more than putting together a manual.

And having a cheap shot at Oli in your 'private' message is out of order.

Why not start a 'bash the mta team one at a time' thread and rant in there?

Anyway, perhaps now it is time to return on-topic :)

Can I B... erm no, Great work getting the fixes out so rapidly. I look forward to playing it, as ever.

I have nothing against any of the MTA team, and I respect the work they do, considering so many of them put in so much effort to provide a fun mod for people to play on, at their own expense (server for hosting, domain) etc, and I'm not having a cheap shot at Oli, incase you didn't know, someone found a few lines of script in his GRS (which is used on a LOT of servers) which emailed the ip, port and admin password to some random gmail account. And he is a very trusted person in the community, it's not what you'd expect to come from a person as good as him. Although he supposedly didn't write the script, he should have checked it through first, since he hardly knew the person who put it in.

Also there are a number of bugs with the current version which have existed since it's release a long time ago, and there's not been a single update with the exception of the one which fixed the memory leak.

Like I said before, I never asked to be a beta tester did I? And even if I did, MrBump would have disallowed it.

Back on topic anyway, the video is cool, though the content doesn't differ much from the previous one, you're all still just racing around the map and not highlighting any changes from the previous beta's. Still looks good though.

Ps By-Stander if you haven't realised, I'm also mirroring all of the videos, so I obviously don't have anything against MTA.

The user-made maps, arena interiors, and deathmatch maps aren't enough? What more do you want from a race mod?

I'm talking about features, not maps. Maybe a video of somebody demonstrating the SDK would be good to come out next :D

Edit: the maps are impressive, considering they were made by beta testers, meaning the map editor must be VERY impressive.
