Crash when typing

Okay, this is starting to get really annoying. I can run MTA fine, but when I try to type in-game, it crashes my computer (Makes the screen freeze and none of the buttons work and I'm forced to restart by cutting the power to my computer) Alt+tab does nothing, ctrl+alt+delete does nothing, no buttons work. Ive tried reinstalling MTA, switching to version 1.1, and reinstalling vice city. Nothing works. I dunno whats causing this to happen. Can anyone help?

Yeah but they all worked before - The only new things are Outpost Firewall Pro, steam, and trillian.

Topic bump*

This is why I despise forums, someone else posts a topic and yours gets cast into shadow and no on replies after that. Why cant you just let us ask on IRC, god, its so much easier and you get a way faster reply

  • MTA Team

no idea tbh :/ I still think it has somto do

Try updating video drivers (and any drivers that can be updated), any possible Windows fixes...

If that won't fix the problem, try checking if it will run without ANY background app.

Oh.. and one note, MTA0.5 doesn't work properly (crashes/other issues) with xfire on :)

Make sure you fully remove all earlier versions of mta before installing the latest, this includes deleting any directories left behind, and files you may have set to read only. The only time I've come across the problem you describe was during dev testing when older .dll's were accidentally left in place. Also make sure you have nothing else running that creates a DirectX overlay (Displaying characters or graphics over the top of the games normal visuals). Screen-grabbing software or communications applications for example.
