Need to know which of these VPS'es that is best
Olle Risk replied to Donald Duck's topic in Hosting solutions
Well they are very equal actually, but I do think Vultr is better for game server hosting, at least you get more for the money, more locations to choose between and working DDoS protection. DigitalOcean on the other hand may be better for development purpose thanks to it's simple control panel. Why don't you try them both free for a while using a referral code like this or this. -
@Deym sometimes it's useful to look that kind of stuff up before yelling that it doesn't work.
-
Well I wouldn't expect to much from a free host in any case, if that's how it works then fine, it's fair for a free solution. I'm still curious tho, especially after reading the terms and privacy policy to find stuff like this: So in short they could technically just send a notice (like an email for instance) then hand out your personally identifiable information to anyone. Or this: I don't really get why a free service needs my mailing address, my phone number or my Paypal.
-
@Deym, there's a simple answer to that question. GTW-RPG is GTW-RPG which is not a copy of c*t. Features are not limited to certain cities, you can do everything literally everywhere. You can arrest wanted criminals, just taze them with a silenced gun and hit them with your nightstick, then deliver them to jail, use the /wanted command to see what type of criminal you're dealing with, different types needs to be handled differently. Also there's no VIP system included, if you wrote your own then you probably implemented it wrong, on the other hand you can recover your car to make it spawn at your location for just $500, that's not a big deal. I like your suggestions tho.

Good job with the AI features, some day that'll be as good as the bots in single player in the matter of robbing and stealing their cars.

How do you finance this service? is there any sponsors or are you just paying to host for free? sorry for asking but I'm confused and I can't really trust "free" services, I mean nobody does anything for free just because they're nice. Maybe for their friends but not for random people. What do you gain from this service? I'd be happy to use your service if it's good and I'm even ready to pay for it but first I'd like to know why it's free and what you gain from it.

Try search in the community maybe, if you find anything like that then use it otherwise you have to do it yourself. It shouldn't be that hard to implement, you can probably get the images from here: https://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Radar_Blips and then show them with: guiCreateStaticImage guiCreateLabel Or if you prefer DX functions but that might be slower.
-
You should share your pictures here, otherwise people might think that you're hiding something. Also try to describe the resources you're selling, most of the viewers here doesn't even know what kind of game mode you're trying to sell nor the quality of it, there's not even a price. You gotta do better than this if you intend to sell mate.

Maybe I'm just really tired or bored but I did find this quiet funny.
-
In that case, I'd recommend Vultr. I used their services for over a month now and got nothing to complain at.

I didn't say the output was in main chat, I said that the script would have been just as simple to write as if it was in main chat. The actual announcements would appear as a fading list of DX messages in the top of your screen, I think the one you use now should provide the same functionality as well but if it fails at least you got alternatives, this is how the syntax would be: addCommandHandler("ann", function(player, cmd, ...) local accName = getAccountName ( getPlayerAccount ( player ) ) if isObjectInACLGroup ("user."..accName, aclGetGroup ( "LWS" )) then exports.resourcename:dm(message, root, 0,255,0) end end) And just as in KariiiM's code you gonna have to replace "resourcename" with the actual name of the top bar resource. Good luck and happy coding.
-
Seems like the problem is how you would display multiple messages at once and let them fade out and stuff like that, take a look here for some inspiration. Or you could just download that resource and call it with an export with the exact same syntax as outputChatBox and get a perfectly working announcement system just the way you want it.

Not mine actually but it's a mix of stolen CIT, SAUR and CSG scripts, the server was originally made by mizozaki so it's all stolen multiple times. Please don't help any of them, as I said earlier if one can make a server like that they won't need help with simple things like this.
-
I'm afraid that's impossible, all you can do is to stop people from helping him when he ask for help here which he'll probably do sooner or later and inform players in his server that the resources are leaked. As far as I know MTA can't do anything to stop that kind of thief's, that would require some kind of digital signature system for resources and even then the risk of a failure would be too big.
-
We don't give support with leaked scripts, and don't try to lie here cause if you really made a server like CIF (the one you advertise for in your signature) you should know this stuff already.
-
What I'm saying is that it's kind of pointless reporting someone here since nobody can do anything about it anyway. Also if he was your developer then isn't it him who created all the resources originally and thereby have the rights to use them? in that case why even bother reporting him? I just don't see the point in all this.
-
Why didn't you setup a separate FTP account for him? it's easy on a VPS and a good shared host should offer you this opportunity as well. Giving root FTP access to people you don't trust is like giving them your bank account details and then send a angry letter to your bank after all the money has been transferred. Don't take it personal but you did the mistake and this guy abused your credulity, and now it's too late for anyone to do anything about it.

Well actually Bilal135 is right, even if you never mentioned advertising as in joining competitors servers and spam their chat's that's what most people actually will do, giving you a bad reputation in the length as they are officially representing you. See it as a friendly advice, and remember to check those who sign-up so that they aren't known spammers. I assume you already though of that as well by for instance instruct those who sign-up about how you want them to advertise. There are plenty of good ways, especially if you pay them. I see that you're using GTW-RPG as foundation, good choice. Just don't forget to donate to them as well, both me and Bilal already donated to them even if we only use small parts of their game mode. Here's the link: www.404rq.com/donations, you'll find it on their github as well: github.com/404rq/GTW-RPG. And good luck with your server mate.

Yes, what's -t then? when I removed it it works as normal again.

Hello, I recently got this strange error on a new 32-bit Linux server I started in a screen session on Debian 8.2 Jessie 64-bit, all needed libraries installed. As you can see there's no on-line player information, FPS etc on the first line as it used to be, (this is build 7838 but same thing happens to an older version too, but only to copies of an existing server running on the same machine and all). Now what's causing this? how do I fix it? The server starts, it claims all the ports are open and that it connects to the master servers but I can't see it in the server list, not even connect to it using the mtasa://: method which works on other servers running on the same host without any issues. Any help please?

Exchange rates are the smallest problem now, if you're really serious about this idea I'd suggest you'll open a service that kind of holds the money until both persons involved in the exchange has paid and then transfer the money to them. In order to get the actual money you could release a resource communicating through secure api´s that optionally could be installed on any server willing to participate, although I highly doubt anyone would use such a resource since they might loose their rich and loyal players and instead get lots of n00bs with lots of money that get's bored quickly since they don't know how to play. Servers like cit for instance lives on donations from loyal players, if they loose them they'll die faster than anyone can say "donation". Another issue would be inflation, nothing stops administrators on these servers to create their own money just to exchange into other servers currencies. At the end only a few small servers would still be active and a whole bunch of temporary copycat servers using the leaked resources from the previous giants.

How can one steal a script that has already been stolen? here's the forum for hosting solutions, although I highly doubt you'll find anyone that host your stolen stuff, especially not for free. https://forum.multitheftauto.com/viewforum.php?f=116
-
Well money is always an issue these days and donations is hard to get, I'm starting to see what went wrong. Have you considered any free hosting solution like this for instance? I really wish you could reopen GTI again somehow.
-
That's so sad, GTI was a great server. But are you sure you couldn't afford to keep it up? I mean running a server today isn't that expensive, I even managed to get a free host, maybe you guys can get one too? Even if the scripts are great it just wouldn't be the same if they where on a server owned by someone else.
-
If this is the server you saw it in: mtasa://lon.404rq.com:22005 then you'll find the script here: https://github.com/404rq/GTW-RPG/tree/master/%5Bresources%5D/GTWturnsignals setVehicleLightState is one way of doing it but it's not perfect as all vehicles doesn't have their light ID's positioned in the same corners. The other way is to make your own lights, no idea how to do that tho.
